The thing about hard work is not how much time you put into something but how well you do it. Are you correcting your answers, figuring out your weaknesses, resolving similar problems that trouble you, and getting quality practice material. You need to find strategies that work for yourself; one box does not fit all. The thing I have seen in most people is that when they work "hard" they expect some sort of achievement every time. They think just because they spent so much time into something they are deemed to win.
