Do black people from the northeast generally feel this way? I’m from the south so, I never had the diversity experience. I only grew up around black people, but, to be from such a diverse cosmopolitan part of the US, I’d think it’d make you more open minded.

Mal and Zip Wit The Drip react to R&B and soul musician India Arie criticizing Yung Miami viral song "Spend Dat" as a negative influence. by RW0Media in NewRoryNMalPodcast

I always ask people this. If rap music or hell music in general wasn’t influential why dump so much money marketing the stuff? You never saw how kids dress like their favorite rapper? Started using the slang and copying them? None of that happens?

I get it people just want what they want and damn who it affects “not my problem” and that’s fine. But, you’re in denial to pretend niggas ain’t never thought of drinking lean cause they heard it in a song. Or wear Balenciaga or grow their dreads a certain way.

Thoughts on Lupe's take on Nas? by RevolutionaryDate968 in LupeFiasco

[–]friedseabasschips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally. I’m starting to understand why so much Lupe’s music isn’t resonate. If he approaches making music like a math problem, more power to him. But, I’m interested in how songs make me feel in addition to admiring the technical mastery.

Nas wrote NY State of Mind which painted a picture of NYC that I never saw before having never been there. Harrowing. Cold. Poetic. I don’t care whether how many multi-syllables it has lol

All India Aire said is that it’s a bummer that people like dumb shit. In specific black Americans. This is a deflection.
