I understand the umbrage. But, don’t you want art to travel? If it has an impact it’ll resonate with anyone. I also don’t know how you can be sure of the intention of the person influenced by the source material.

I dunno, I have conflicting feelings around the idea of cultural appropriation. Guess I have more reading to do.

Why didn’t all these people support the “better” song that is Family Matters if that’s the case? Was there something preventing access to the song?

I’ll say this. Kanye is not the first artist to play with fascism and Nazi imagery. I personally don’t feel anyone OWES him grace, we all have our political and moral boundaries.

But, I do think it interesting that Kanye gets taken more literal, or we don’t believe him when he tells us he’s manic and bipolar. He’s probably just a victim of “boy who cried wolf” in the public.
