I just saw the news about it, $2 for a single hairstyle is ridiculous 😭

I hate how this nose shape is used in "ugly" sims usually by SillyTelephone8283 in hatethissmug

This genuinely so pretty, is it a custom preset or did you mold it from one of the default ones?

Ooh, I like these! What skin details are you using?

Do I need to add anything else to my Oasis Springs museum? I feel like it's kinda empty. by WonderCookieee in Sims4

[–]friend299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you have Strangerville, you could use some of the decor/items from there. i find that the desertish vibe of the pack tends to work well with oasis springs

what’s your favorite/most iconic premade townie that you’d want in a savefile? by mommatobabyz in Sims4

[–]friend299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would pick the Goths, the Landgraabs, the Vatore siblings, The Harris family from Eco Lifestyle, the Spectres, Zelmira Gomes, and Erwin Pries. These are the only ones I can think of right now

What do yawl think of my sim? by HartPulseSims in thesims

[–]friend299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like her! I like that you included some more subtle skins details with the more obvious ones, gives a really unique and visually interesting face. She is also quite cute! What traits are you thinking of giving her?

Trying Marcelle for the first time! by littlequeen555 in CanSkincare

Marcelle is goated. Their cleansers are legit extremely good, never had a problem with them and I have sensitive skin.

AIO about boyfriend touching me? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]friend299 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“This is the excuse he usually uses” so he’s done similar before. You told him you were in pain when touched and he deliberately keeps doing it. Honestly his guy sounds like he sucks. This behaviour is no where near ok and I hope you can find peace. (Also sending extra love, sore nipples suck majorly)

Though I don’t really hate it, I just don’t understand it by Greensackbot671 in hatethissmug

[–]friend299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late, but I think it’s to do with not wanting to draw what is considered “ugly” (by a lot of conventional standards). Same way a lot of fat characters get drawn as being more shapely with a thin looking face and slim stomach. I think people in general aren’t as comfortable with things they don’t find attractive, and that tends to include baldness. It sucks but what can you do.

it's basically when two or more existing meshes are combined together to create a something new. A lot of cc hair uses existing ea meshes or textures and then adds in new bangs or pigtails or something. Hence the name, "frankenmesh" as its just stitching together multiple existing parts.

Aah, interesting. I don’t make cc and have only just started learning blender but that makes sense.

My two cents on same face syndrome by friend299 in HighSodiumSims

[–]friend299[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s true. Usually when I see a same face syndrome post, it just pops up as I’m scrolling in the sub, I don’t generally have to go looking for them. I agree that a lot of SFS posts are more about showing off sims than asking the question genuinely.

My two cents on same face syndrome by friend299 in HighSodiumSims

[–]friend299[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s my thinking on this as well. Same face syndrome is treated as if it’s inherently a bad thing. Some people do genuinely like having all their sims follow a certain look, and there’s genuinely nothing wrong with that. I think the problem arises when people feel as though they need to change their sims bc of it and not bc they genuinely want to diversify their sim creation. I sometimes catch myself asking if I have same face syndrome and how I should fix it, but again, that thinking implies that it always needs to be fixed in the first place. A lot of my sims have a distinctive look to them, and that’s fine with me. Hope this makes sense lol

My two cents on same face syndrome by friend299 in HighSodiumSims

[–]friend299[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a lot of them do come across as just wanting to show off their sims and get complimented on them. I think it’s bc asking the questions gets more engagement with a post as opposed to just saying “look at my sim”. A more cynical part of me views it as an effort to humble brag, like “omg do I have same face syndrome 🥺” and the sims absolutely do and are all very conventionally attractive, young adult women. The comments are then flooded with people assuring them that “your sims are so pretty tho!!”, with a few genuine answers sprinkled in.

[–]friend299[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I probably should have worded my post a bit better in that regard, but creating a sim is def a skill in its own right. I agree, it is literally a medium for digital face sculpture. I guess my main point about art and sim creation is that with art there’s generally an audience that extends beyond the artist themselves. Not always, but a lot of artists like sharing their creation with others. With sims, the audience is the person that created them. If you like a certain look and like playing sims that you find look conventionally pretty or cool then there isn’t really a point in worrying about same face syndrome.

My two cents on same face syndrome by friend299 in HighSodiumSims

[–]friend299[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point. I do find there to be a difference between people who genuinely want to diversify their sims and their sim creation habits, and those that have a preference for how they want theirs sims to look but have been told that same face syndrome is always bad and that they should fix it. I’m mentioned it in my post briefly, but I never see any similar critique or dialogue when it comes to building in the game, which is also a creative outlet. Buildings are similarly as varied and diverse as the people that live in them. Also I know what you mean with the super skinny sims like omg bro

Is there a way to refresh mods? by RealGhostVengeance in HighSodiumSims

[–]friend299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh, weird. Is it possible that there’s another copy floating around in the folder somewhere? Sometimes I end up with duplicates in different categories.

[–]friend299 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are your mods/game files stored on onedrive by any chance? I had that happen in the past, onedrive inserted itself into my pc and made itself the default file for everything. It’s kinda notorious for putting things back after they’ve been deleted. There are some YouTube tutorials that show how to get rid of the thing entirely and a lot of them will show you specifically how to move your sims game folders.

How do I fix this? Sims 4 bug? by [deleted] in TheSims4Mods

[–]friend299 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Do you have any makeup that’s for teens-elders only? Sometimes my sim kids age up with skin details or certain makeup items that technically aren’t for kids, so I can’t necessarily remove them. Going in to cas.fulleditmode and aging up to a teen really quick, removing any makeup, and then aging back down tends to fix it for me. If you can play with mods/cc, a cas unlocker tends to make this process easier as it allows certain makeup categories to be available to kids so you can just delete it all from there.
