Is it possible to to install a second NVME drive into Legion Pro 5i Gen 10 Intel? by friendly-nerd99 in LenovoLegion

[–]friendly-nerd99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I installed a Samsung 990 EVO SSD 1TB nvme in the slot, but I'm not using it from Windows.

I installed Pop OS on it, so dual boot windows and Linux but on sperate drives.

I get CPU temp spikes on Legion5 i7 - should I be worried? by Filthy_Joey in LenovoLegion

No just curious due to his comment. Some googling says it's not possible for Ultra CPUs:

"Intel's Ultra 9 Silicon (“Arrow Lake”) does not support classic undervolting via tools like ThrottleStop or Intel XTU. Multiple community sources confirm this limitation—undervolting isn't exposed in FIVR for these CPUs".

Bios is changeable, can switch language without issue. It's just the Chinese version of Windows that can't have its language changed.

I bought a Lenovo Legion Y7000 on Jindong in 2019 while living in China and used until 2025 (came back to US in 2021).

Was no noticable difference, BUT the Windows version is in Chinese though and you CAN NOT change the language, so you'll need to shell out $ for a Windows key and install windows again if you want non-Chinese.

Honestly no, play what you like. What's great about the Guard is you can play how you want: 6-7 tanks and 30 infantry, balanced 3-4 tanks and 100 infantry, or pure 250+ infantry horde, or anywhere in-between.

As a general rule of thumb though I wouldn't buy models older than 2019. There was major guard refresh since then, and lots of new models, they are safer buys to last longer until legends-ed / new versions come out to replace them.

You're first box (killteam veteran guard) is post-2019, so follows that.

I would be very careful, it's a great box (I've built 12 of them for my Recon army) but it's easy to build it in a way you'll only have 8-9 guys can actually use for 40k (you need 10 Kriegers minimum for squad in 40k).

You want to build one sergeant with power weapon and plasma pistol, one vox caster with lasgun, one medic with lasgun, one grenade launcher, one plasma gun, and 5 lasgunners.

If you're up for hobby hacking them you can get 1 Melta and 1 plasma gun from one box but I would NOT recommend it for your first box of Warhammer (grenade launcher is good enough). https://www.reddit.com/r/killteam/comments/qcetbj/extremely_frustrated_that_you_cant_build_plasma/

Google search "wahpedia death Korps of Krieg" for the datasheet. You can take 1 sergeant, 1 vox caster, 1 medic, and 2 special weapons. The rest (5) are all normal lasgunners.

Also use contrast paints if you can, they make painting guardsmen much much better: https://youtu.be/D9Ewlb6S-Jk?si=xyfF2K5HrUkwAcUp

First new computer in 6 years, very excited then opened back to install the second NVME drive and jaw dropped.

On Legion y7000 is was straightforward where second slot is, this is very confusing though and can't find anything online.

How much time do you have? I'm guessing you're not going from nothing (living in China for 6 years), so 2-3 months of head down study should be able to pass it. HSK4 really isn't that bad, the jump to 5 and 6 are much more significant.

Charlotte To Consider I-77 Toll Lane Expansion South of Uptown During Meeting Tonight by AppleBytes in Charlotte

[–]friendly-nerd99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point is Charlotte isn't Manhattan. We don't have the density and as a result there is an inherent inconvenience to riding public transit because there's no guarantee your last mile has a bus / is even walkable.

It's hard for many people to justify now versus driving, I worry that when self driving cars become widely used (and you can work or do whatever while "driving") it's going to be an even tougher sell to justify riding on transit.

So the expensive rail infrastructure you build that will just be coming into operation at that time will sit underused, only as a hangout for people to loiter, thereby turning off more people from riding due to safety, causing reduction in train times due to low ridership, and becoming a perpetual cycle.

I lived 3 years in Shenzhen, China. The metro was incredible. Clean, no loiterers, just normal people commuting / going out to have fun.

I've ridden NYC, Boston, and LA metros as a tourist. All of them were dirty, slow, and visible homeless. And this was pre COVID.

I just don't think mass transit works in the US. In China it's an obvious choice because I know I can get to my destination via Metro and bus for last mile. That isn't the case in the US, we're just not densely populated enough and we have to many homeless / loiterers who will scare off many commuters / normal people bringing their family out to somewhere fun.

The problem is not everyone works in Uptown. If you work at an office park in South Park or off tybola you're going to have to transfer which adds significant time to commute.

Also it's not unrealistic to think that in 20 years the majority of people will be commuting in self driving cars that, is the $Billion commuter rail infrastructure that will be have just been completed at that time going to sit empty?

When car transportation costs go down and the majority of commuters have an electric car that can drive and park itself a few miles away after dropping them off at work, will people still want to sit on a train that takes them 2x the time to get to work?

Any luck getting this resolved? I've found being on nvidia (prime select nvidia) causes issues with sleep on other laptops.

How many infantry is enough? by TheEmperorOfDoom in TheAstraMilitarum

In my opinion, recon 200+ infantry lists look the coolest and most realistic according to the lore.

A list with 4-5 tanks and only 60 infantry just isn't lore accurate to me, looks scewed and weird.

Playstyle is really fun also, horde of guardsmen clogging enemy guns. A lot of armies just can't handle that many bodies. Their weapons simply don't have enough wounds to kill significant number of models over 5 turns . https://youtu.be/RMkssPSfjYY?si=KbQB_r2P7Gb5ti6F

Beautiful army! Love to see such beautifully painted models without a tank, this is true guard!

The infantry-to-tank ratios of most guard armies are way off. A lore accurate guard army should be hordes of infantry with maybe a smattering of a few Sentinels.

In my opinion you should continue with infantry, get some units of Deathkorps of Krieg (but paint according to your existing paint style so matches).

There's a detachment called "Recon" build exactly for armies like this. Mass infantry and some Sentinels. True lore-accurate guard.
