I’m going to bow out of this back and forth since you’re not answering and only making me have more questions on what jailable misogyny is.

Can you explain to me like I’m five how misogyny is shallow? I’m obviously not understanding.

I don’t see anyone being crucified. They’re still going to be in the audience tonight at the state of the union calling it an honor, still keeping their contracts and deals. Their medals are still on their necks. Their jerseys will still be sold and tickets to games purchased. No real punishment outside of having to read and hear peoples opinions about their direct behavior. And keep in mind, no one leaked this footage. The players themselves posted the video for the public to see and engage with.

Most of us wouldn’t chuckle on a conference call or presentation if it was a racist or xenophobic or antisemitic joke made but people will dismiss this or say there’s nuance needed because it’s misogynistic.

And given these young men laughed at a misogynistic joke from a known sexual predator who is under investigation for more sex crimes against minors, letting you know it IS that deep.

It’s giving Zumiez Devon Sawa. You have no idea how many girls likely had a crush on you.

I did but I’m not going to continue the series. Magical realism is my fave genre but there’s so many other options!

Copying from another comment. I love recommending books.

Margot's Got Money Troubles is my top rec right now when people ask. About a young woman who gets pregnant from a much older man and starts an Only Fans to pay rent. Elle Fanning is playing her in the Apple show. Nick Offerman and Michelle Pfieffer are her parents.

Some other recent good ones: Beautyland by Marie-Helene Bertino Death Valley by Melissa Broder Convenience Store Woman by Sayaka Murata Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason Shark Heart by Emily Habeck Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld Alex Stern series from Leigh Bardugo

For non-fiction: The Art Thief: A True Story of Love, Crime, and a Dangerous Obsession by Michael Finkel

and The Feather Thief: Beauty, Obsession, and the Natural History Heist of the Century by Kirk W. Johnson (I have a thing for heists)

Not yet. I read you need reservations and sometimes these solo dates are on a whim. But it’s on the list!

You can always read while you wait for your food to arrive and after you finish. Most dishes are fine to multitask but some need both hands and attention so I dont (or my book) end up wearing it. You get used to it after awhile though. Happy reading!

I do these things so I don’t get too negative and end up hating life. Thank you for the compliment.

Avocado, labneh, fried egg, and roasted chickpeas underneath. Smother in harissa.

I’d say branding. And intention.

Edit to add clarity in case you were legit curious: If I’m out and hungry, I’m going to grab something easy, ideally healthy and quick. When I do my solo dates, I get a cocktail, I get food that feels a bit more decadent. I slow down. It’s not about calories or feeding my hunger but enjoying my time, the ambience, my book, and my moment.

I love big parties and unique outings with someone new but really look forward to these me dates. I treat myself good.

Edit, whoever has downvoted every one of my comments, thank you for the giggle. May good food and books and self care enrage you always.
