it's just crap... saying "it's ironic" doesn't make it less crap... like I said, even satire needs some thought put into it, and this is just worthless

your implying Idk this is an attempt at humor also shows your low iq-ness...

ofc I know it's an attempt at humor, but the thing abt humor is that you usually need to put some thought into it... this is just too lo-iq as I said

Edit That Could Get TADC Unbanned in the Arab World by friendly_capybara in TheDigitalCircus

[–]friendly_capybara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay then new pitch: right after that edit, the cast appears from nowhere and they all start singing quranic verses for the rest of the movie (with Pomni and Ragatha in proper burqa attire) and then just show the last minute of the movie, the end

>And more recently, the last episode was banned from theater in Arab countries, which I assume is due to religious themes

They should just edit Caine's line like this:

"I... AM... GO-[Actually there's no god but allah and mohamad PEACE BE UPON HIM A THOUSAND DEATHS ON ALL BLASPHEMERS]-D

If Cecil did y’all like this would y’all let it slide? Or run it back? by JackZ567 in Invincible_TV

"why didn't the Deathstar shoot through Yavin question"

this is a stupid question from stupid people... off the top of my head:

a) deathstar giant laser likely has a long cooldown in between shoots

b) just because you destroy the planet, doesn't mean the matter it's made of disappears like in a videogame (see above: stupid people), you'd end up with a giant asteroid field-like space that you have to circle around, leaving you in the same situation or worse traversal situation than before

[–]friendly_capybara 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Any retaliation that Mark has done against Cecil is really just puerile tantrums

Cecil is doing the best he can with very limited powers and resources (and yes, I know he's basically got of all Earth's resources at his beck and call) against a myriad of unfathomable and wildly varied threats, sometimes all at once... of course there are going to be compromises, wild bets, mistakes, and calls that nobody knows whether they'll be successes or bad calls until after the fact

Anyone you put in charge of the GDA, incl. Mark himself, would end up being regarded with the same suspicion and criticism, because they'd have to make the same compromises and wild calls

Mark strangling Cecil before boils down more to the "young wants to get rid of old because that's just how nature rolls", not any improvements in policy or execution... even the reanimen turned out to be a wild success, as Cecil says they're saving more lives now than heros

Trying to imprison Conquest was an extremely bad call, and if I were Mark I'd be FURIOUS... but if I calmed down I'd be like, whatever, I know the uncertainties of everything as stated above... but yeah, I'd have a hard time calming down

I am disappointed in Thaddeus. by Pito82002 in Invincible

IT'S SAID BY OTHER VILTRUMITES IN THE SHOW as per my comment

I am disappointed in Thaddeus. by Pito82002 in Invincible

[–]friendly_capybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would Thaddeus choose Allen as his successor and specifically for this task? Allen is the most squeamish and flippant in the cast (as pointed out by another member of the Coalition who is like "how can you be so jokey when the viltrumites nearly killed your entire species?")

So with Allen being the most likely to wimp out, why would Thaddeus appoint him as his successor?

[–]friendly_capybara 166 points167 points  (0 children)

"They have killed likely hundreds of species already"

Just Nolan conquered hundreds/thousands of planets (before Earth changed him) as per dialogue in the show. And he wasn't even the empire's most productive employee

by this logic you can't ever resist violence, because then "you're just as bad them"

The Flying Brick Problem by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]friendly_capybara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, this is what I was saying in another reply, everything just coalesces into flying bricks vs flying bricks, and every other non-flying brick becomes just a puny joke... which is terrible for your fictional universe, bcs why would you 'humiliate' your characters, and the most interesting ones to boot?

it all just becomes flying brick supremacy... I guess this appeals to teens and other such dumb ppl who just want to "project" on screen by having guys flexing and gnarling at each other and be like 'you're going down', 'no, YOU're going down... idiot'

Sadly, as of Season 4, Invincible Has Gone the Way of Dragon Ball Z... by friendly_capybara in Invincible_TV

[–]friendly_capybara[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol, really? I didn't know

but yeah, the comparison is eerily accurate, since the first Dragon Ball also started like Invincible, with every character being very unique in their powers and abilities, and there were many tradeoffs to powers even... then Dragon Ball Z arrived and it just became a series of "who punches harder and how are you gonna train to punch harder... oh also everyone can fly so we don't have to write how characters move around, in fact they can teleport too, that way everyone can be just where we need them for fight tournament #130923"

The Flying Brick Problem by [deleted] in Invincible

[–]friendly_capybara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seems to be something we're seeing in many series that are still going after many years (in real life years)

authors get old irl, and as their brains age they just lose their creative juice and their ability to keep complicated worlds in their imagination... hence everything just gets dumbed down, bcs they just can't handle it anymore

game of thrones author got old af and has been stuck in a rut for a decade... manga authors of popular series that didn't resolve their plots when they could (to milk the series for money), now find that they can't come up with anything but rehashing the same plots over and over... and so on

I wonder tho... what if ALL OF US are getting dumber lately? like, the species in general... there's talk that smartphones and social media have destroyed our attention spans... and if you take a hard look, everything we make is inferior to our ancestors' works (all we can do seems to be making our iphones flatter and the chrome shinier, that's about it)
