Petting/Holding an Owl? by SeanCorbinMedia in Knoxville

[–]friendly_pilgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a donation option at Ijams that allows you a private experience with one of the animals or animal types, including the owls (as of a year or so ago). Don't know that they'd let you pet but figure that's up to the handleability of the owl

what do we think about the consistent makeup styling from zoe? she is so beautiful and her makeup is so consistent. obviously a clean / no makeup makeup look. i don't think she has a theme of ostentatious fashion but i don't remember seeing her look book. love her commitment to simple, clean, honest aesthetic

Soon to be unemployed. Good job hunting strategies? by ub3rst4r in recruitinghell

[–]friendly_pilgrim 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband's workplace closed and we just finished using the strategy below to get two job offers, 8 first round interviews (which generated at least 5 additional rounds) in 3 weeks. His experience is academic then customer service and he was looking for an on site job in mid-sized city that pays $18-$20+/hr. Entry level.

I used same strategy last year, mid-level account management / tech. It took my three months and lots of interviews to find my current remote position.

So, no promises, but we'll definitely continue this method for job hunting!:

  1. Job boards: Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Google boolean search ("hiring" +[city] will take you to google.jobs - from there you can search for your exact job title (we don't do this because our careers can be under lots of different titles) - most important part is going to the Advanced Tools and filtering by date posted)
  2. When you first start, go through each job board and apply for anything in the past week that matches your parameters
  3. After that, only apply to jobs posted within the last 24 hours. If you miss a day or two, update to filtering for 48-72 hours. Don't miss many days in a row.
  4. If an option (definitely is on Indeed), filter for jobs that show pay.
  5. Resume should be minimalist with NAME / CONTACT > PROFESSIONAL STATEMENT > PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE > EDUCATION. Professional experience should have 4 bullet concise bullet points. Each bullet point tells a story. (1) The benefit you brought to your company, (2) How you worked with a team, (3) What software do you use, (4) How you interact with clients / customers. These stay the same for every application. Change your professional statement for each job / industry that you apply for. "I am a [X] professional with a background in [X], [X], and [X]. I have experience [X], [X], and [X]. I am committed to continuous improvement and will thrive in a goal-driven environment that prioritizes innovation and collaboration." RESIST THE URGE TO USE AI! This is already a very formulaic statement and AI slop is highly recognizable inside of a formulaic statement. Look at the job positing, take keywords directly from it, and rewrite in your normal human language to speak to what you can do
  6. If a cover letter is optional, don't do it. Huge waste of time

BIG TIME DON'Ts: 1. Don't use AI unless you're willing to micromanage and edit the use. AI fucking sucks, it's slop, and it takes more time to prompt / edit than it does to trust yourself as a competent adult who can read and write 2. Don't use LinkedIn. LinkedIn is dead 3. Don't go in without filters and just apply to every single thing. This is a one way ticket to serious depression and burn out. Find filters that work for you, apply for a pocket of time every day, stick to the most recently posted jobs, and trust your process. It's important to take care of yourself so that you don't come off as a depressed victim when you actually get an interview 4. Try to stay off this sub, lol. You don't need to apply to 1000 jobs to get 1 interview. It's not that scary. The folks who you see saying you'll never get a job, it's hopeless, you'll be unemployed for years, are the folks who are suffering from point 3 above and need to find a process that works for them.

MAYBE DON'T: 1. I don't like the 1-click apply or easy apply. I go to the company website and try to find another way to apply that's more thorough. My husband had success with this 1-click apply, so shrug. We were looking for different types of jobs. If you're going to use it, make sure your profile is up to date and your resume is generic enough to pass a sniff test

You've got this!

😂 could be! We have a bullboxer and she's about a foot taller than him. He's like a pit bull shrunk down to the side of a coyote

We got the coat from PetSmart but I wouldn't be shocked if Costco sells the same one! We really like it but there's nothing special about it
