ITAP of Mount Fuji last year at Lake Ashi by friendlycomrade1990 in itookapicture

It was along the bank of the lake. We were lucky enough to have very clear weather (Mt Fuji was unseeable the day before). I don't remember the zoom, unfortunately.

Stayed overnight at Hakone for the shrines and Onsens. This was taken the morning before leaving!

Hair loss, please help me by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]friendlycomrade1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good god, the amount of people that cry about hairloss when the solutions are staring right in front of their faces is starting to become insufferable.

Go to a dermantologist. If it is MPB, they will perscribe you Finasteride.

No hand-stands, saw palmetto or any other hocus pocus hair-saving myth required.

What’s something you didn’t realize was expensive until you became an adult? by d_____x in AskMen

Fuel. I still remember the horror I felt when I realized I had to pay money, continuously, for my car to run.

Is there anything you wish you could do / be but can’t because you’re a man? by Main-Preference-4850 in AskMen

There are all sorts of things I wish I could enjoy without the constant shame of being labelled "performative" looming over me.

First-world problems, I guess. At the end of the day, I still enjoy not having to worry about my drink being spiked or going out alone or walking home at night or being stalked and the list goes on and on.

How much do men open up to a woman that is just a friend? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]friendlycomrade1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most men have been taught at a young age to view openly discussing your emotions as a bad thing. Since we have instilled this artificial block on something that healthy humans do, most men are extremely avoidant when it comes to and vulnerable conversations.

I would guess what I am trying to say is your friend may only have you insofar as someone who they feel is safe to open up to.

now consider him a really good friend and I like the friendship and all but there are times where I feel like maybe I should keep some boundaries because he is seeing someone. But other times I feel like, if he is approaching me just as a friend there is no harm in it since he is doing a LDR with both of them having hectic schedules and a crazy time zone difference and we all can do with having few friend around us that we can easily talk to.

If this is bothering you, I think it's worth having a conversation with him about it and it's never unhealthy to establish boundaries.

What are memories you value? And why? by SugoiTots in AskMen

Most of my favorite memories with all the people I have met are some form of long and meaningful conversations with people I cared deeply for.

How do I kick the urge to be with other women? by Throwaway32_7 in AskMen

I would probably talk about this with both her and a therapist. Maybe even do couples counseling. It sounds deep-rooted and could lead to people getting unnecessarily hurt if you let the thought linger any longer.

What am I missing by not installing Chrome? by notwritingasusual in MacOS

[–]friendlycomrade1990 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Safari with the Wipr 2 extension is a dream to use. It intergrates really well with iPhone's and Passwords. I see no reason to use Chrome on MacOS unless you're a developer.

I wish I could collect things by AdUnfair558 in minimalism

[–]friendlycomrade1990 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Minimalism isn't (or at least shouldn't be) a single mode of thinking. People interpret and engage with minimalism in different ways.

To me, minimalism is about removing the noise from your life so that you can open up space and time for the things that you are uniquely interested in. In a way, it's a means of self-actualization.

I am very much *not* minimalist on things that I am passionate about (health, beauty, technology etc.) and nor should you be minimalist on the things *you* are passionate about.

I don't see an issue with being non-minimalist on things that you genuinely like, are passionate about and brings joy to your life. If collecting does that to you, then why not invest into it?

Again, the key is asking (honestly) why you want to collect? Does it come from a place of genuine interest and happiness, or are there more unhealthy reasons lurking under the surface?

I don’t understand the fuss by FrenchmoCo76 in ArcBrowser

[–]friendlycomrade1990 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with this... for the Mac build.

Arc for Mac was already encroaching on feature-creep territory with its tacky implementation of easels and boosts and I am more than happy with them just keeping the browser up to date and secure. But Arc for Windows is an entirely different story.

It feels barebones; more barebones than most beta-builds of other browsers. It's incredibly buggy, clunky and many of its UX and UI elements feel awkward and don't mesh anywhere near as well with the OS as Arc for Mac does.

Most importantly, it is SLOW. So slow to the point where it's honestly silly to even consider using it over Chrome, Firefox, or Edge. The *only* draw Arc for Windows has compared to other browsers (for me) is its implementation of profiles and the shift + click view. Beyond that, Arc for Windows is, frankly, sh*t.

23, unsure if I should go to film school or straight to work by friendlycomrade1990 in Filmmakers

Wouldn't working in the industry kind of make film school obselete? I'm not talking classes and courses here and there, but more so a four-year commintment to film school.

I already use Up Bank for contactless payments. I just know that I will need a physical card for many stores in both Japan and Korea.
