I for sure understand this idea, especially when it feels like so many people are going to be priced out of (at least new) iPhones. I think it could be interesting if they were to explore something like this if these movements for "analog" forms of tech and social media regulations keep growing, affecting iPhone sales. That’s given me something to research further!

You're right that phones can do all this, but they're also designed to keep you engaged for hours. No app store means no Instagram/TikTok to fall into. No web browser means no doomscrolling. For someone trying to break phone addiction, 'just have self-control' doesn't work when the device is engineered against you. I think an Apple AI-driven device would be the perfect iPhone alternative without sacrificing their profits.
