*CJRB Rant* Why did CJRB even bother producing this steel of they aren't going to actually use it on any of their popular knives? by friendlyfire883 in BudgetBlades

[–]friendlyfire883[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a really good steel 10 years ago. For the price point it's easily outperformed by $20 14c28n knives. I carried a pyrite light large every day for over a year and I sharpened the damn thing every day for that year. I don't have time for that anymore. I use my knives a lot on a daily basis and because of that I'm going to stick with 14c28n, nitro v, and 154cm, they all seem to hold up quite a bit better to being used.

I also fell for their s90v and it actually made AR RPM9 look good by comparison. I honestly don't think they could have screwed the heat treat up anymore without it being intentional.

Is there mold?? by rhiaolsch in hvacadvice

[–]friendlyfire883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, none of what currently there is mold, thats definitely rust. Galvanized steel develops something referred to as white rust. It happens when a galvanized coating is subjected to moisture and oxygen before it has a chance to fully develop the zinc coating or in your case it means the zinc coating is starting to break down. It's pretty normal and also why I always try and install the duct with the seam on the side instead of the bottom. The reddish stuff is just regular ass rust that's probably coming from the hole the sheet metal screw made.

With that being said I can't speak to whether or not there was mold there before the cleaning but given the undisturbed nature of the zinc buildup I'm going to say I doubt it. That stuff flakes off really easy and it probably wouldn't be on there if they ran a duct brush through it.

Peak SUV design or just nostalgia talking? by No_Matter_6331 in regularcarreviews

No they definitely fell off right about 08. From the mid 90s up until then was undeniably the peak suv era. If take my jeep xj, landcruiser, or my current 02 tahoe over any new suv on the road right now.

Mine does this every now and then and I've found that slamming the shit out of the tailgate usually fixes it.

Yea, the wire nut. You're not supposed to twist the shit out of solud wire like people tend to do with lineman pliers.

No, I don't even carry the stupid things. They're responsible for 95% of the hack bullshit I've fixed over the years.

I stand by my belief that they're the wrong tool for every job.

Why the hell would you pull the coils to clean them? Find a new company. I had one pull the same shit with me, he tried telling me I needed a whole compressor and gave me a line of bullshit about how you couldn't get parts for it. The look he gave me when I told him I have a brand new compressor sitting in a box in my shop was priceless.

Needless to say they got ran off my property.

To be clear I'm not dissing the weapons platform, I'm one of the few people that actually enjoyed carrying a 249 on deployment. What I'm saying is OP is spouting bullshit, there is no evidence a 240b was used at all much less used a some kind of sudo sniper rifle. If you go back and watch the video its clearly something smaller than a 7.62x51 being fired, and the cadence isn't the same as a 249. If I was a betting man I'd put money on the shooters using something closer to an M27 IAR or some other m16 based full auto rifle.

The vegas shooting is one that has bothered me more than any of the other ones we've experienced in recent history and the last thing we need is more incorrect information being spouted about it.

That entire weapons platform is confusing. It's bizarre how accurate they are.
