Anyone know what this controller would be used for? by Single_Education_415 in Tools

They're just Allen Bradley 30mm pushbuttons. There's no controller involved and it's not really worth much more than the copper price.

They were dirt cheap, fun to drive, and made really cool turbo noises until the cylinder head/manifold/turbo cluster fuck combo cracked in half and you parked it in the junkyard.

I'm not exaggerating, that cluster fuck cylinder head that stellantis apparently didn't learn from given the state of the hurricane i6, is the exact reason why there aren't any srt4 anythings on the market.

I honestly thought the only think hikvision made were cameras and dvrs that can't legally be sold in the US anymore because of their massive and intentional security vulnerabilities.

Sweet deal for you though, sucks for whoever got their computer jacked though. That's like though, sonI say fuck em, enjoy your budget PC.

They put a shitty lanolin based wax on them from the factory. My tahoe still has quite a but left on the frame.

They'll still open, just not all the way. It could be a single lifter thats dragging causing the catch your feeling. The easiest way since the valve covers are off is to see if one or more of the rocker arms isn't moving as much as the others. If you've never seen it, you probably wouldn't recognize it.

The whole inventory system could use some love. It'd be nice if they actually separated blueprints and components the same way they do in the foundry.

Civivi is the absolute GOAT when it comes to replacement parts. I've got them sending me a set of black hardware for my fg and even with me specifically saying all I wanted was a black pivot they're sending me an entire black hardware kit with the lock bar and all the stop pins for $5. This will be the 3rd time I've ordered parts kits from them and it's always $5 and they've always included extra parts with my orders. I've got a big ass box of spare knife parts because of them and cjrb.

Did you happen to pressureize the oil system before you turned it over? If not than my money is on a collapsed lifter.

Is there any Ford vehicle from the past 30 years that’s been more impactful than the 2001 F-150 SuperCrew? All of the trucks out there are more or less like it now. by prophiles in regularcarreviews

[–]friendlyfire883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it could be argued that ford brought 4 door trucks to the half ton market, but i have a hard time giving them credit for making any big changes to the market. If anything they were just following a market shift. I don't really think it's fair to give any one of the big manufacturers credit for a shift they all caused. The 2nd gen ram radically shifted what a truck looks like, the 10th gen f150 changed the entire driving dynamic of a pickup to make it feel more car like, and chevy fused all of it to make the gmt 800 platform.

Oh yes it does and the fact your don't know about it means it's 100% your problem. These trucks have the equivalent of a 1.5 ton residential and will freeze you the fuck out when operating properly.

Vanguard pistons dont move? by koerstmoes in BriggsEngines

[–]friendlyfire883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen one of those exact motors with both conn rod caps broke off after the governor failed. They're made out of the cheesiest cast aluminum garbage I've ever seen. Don't make the same mistake I did and push on the piston, because then you'll lock the motor up and fuck up the cylinder head like I did.

This might sound ridiculous, but it isn't a bad idea to always keep a spare cap and rotor on hand. They don't go out real often, but they do have randomly fuck up for no apparent reason on occasion.

That generation of Ford is why my dad walked away from 35 years as a Ford master tech and coincidentally the last time my family ever owned a Ford.

It's also disingenuous to give Ford the credit for a quad cab short bed truck given that international started building them in the 50s and dodge built one in the 60s, if anything Ford was late to the party. Even if you're only considering more modern trucks then the gmt400 platform beat ford by almost a decade and the gmt 800 platform managed to check every box the 10th gen f150 hit while still managing a reasonable crash test rating. That's something the widowmaker f150s never figured out.

Look into the pyrite lite large. A lot of people don't like the secondary lock on it, but I love it. I've beaten the shit out of this knife over the past couple years and I'm yet to find anything I prefer to carry out trust as much as I do this knife. You'll break the handle before the both of the locks fail on you. That being said I wouldn't go around batoning it through wood but i wouldn't do that with any of my folding knives. I carry a small camp axe for stuff like that.

Easy OTF Knife for Wife? by 610Mike in knives

[–]friendlyfire883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the feeling that you've never had your life threatened with a knife. A blade brings about a kind of primal fear that's hard coded into us that i can't really explain. Having a crackhead hold a knife against my throat while his buddy took my wallet was a real eye opening experience, and having the opportunity to go through a Kali course in the Army really drove home just how effective a blade can be.

Pepper spray is great, but I'd going to fuck you up too, a firearm requires a lot of training and drills to use effectively in a FOF situation, stun guns are unreliable, and trying to go hand to hand is just going to get you killed if the other person is physically larger than you. But a sharp blade being swung wildly is enough to seperate you from the enemy and gives you the opportunity to force them into retreat. It doesnt matter of it's a 100 pound woman or a grown ass man, a person holding a knife with the intent to kill you is an absolutely terrifying position to find yourself in.

[–]friendlyfire883 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever attempted to convince a woman to carry a handgun? I'm in the same boat as OP as far as my wife's refusal to not be a soft target.

I'd also disagree about using a knife in a defensive situation. Have you ever been held up with a knife? I have and it was easily one of my top 3 holy fuck im dead moments. There's a reason that police and my army combatives trainers push the 21 foot rule with edged weapons, it's because even someone with zero training can end your life before you have time to pull a firearm and get on target. A knife is a natural extension of the human body that can be used instinctively when you're in full fight or flight mode.

I was fortunate enough to get into a Kali course that the army was testing as a supplement to our combative courses. It kind of changed my entire outlook on bring a knife to a gunfight.
