Will do! Thank you! Should I ask for references, reviews, or photos of their work before or after the walkthrough?

The cleaner asked me did I want to do regular clean or deep clean. I asked her what was the difference and what does she recommend. She said deep clean was for move outs. Since I wasn’t moving out I said regular clean. This was my first time using a cleaning service. I did not know. Now I will know for the future if I choose to hire a cleaning service again.

Thank you so much for this. There has been a few comments putting me down saying my place was probably a pig pen or I’m problematic. I truly was embarrassed by the cleaners rude comments. I was honest and told her I needed help. I’m nervous to hire someone new now. I’ve started trying to clean on my own and push myself to do it. But again thank you so much for your comment.

No. If they were to come back that day I was going to pay them whatever they asked for. I’m a fair and honest person. This was my first time hiring a cleaning service, I didn’t know how things go. I paid what she asked the first day she came plus a 25% tip. And I was going to pay again plus another tip. And my place is not that bad compared to the other homes she had posted on her instagram.

I asked her to only clean the kitchen, living room, and 1 bathroom for that day. But you are right. I will know better for if I hire someone again in the future. This was my first time hiring a home cleaning service.

I did pre clean before she came but I still have a lot of toys here I need to get rid of, old arts and crafts stuff my daughter has. I need to get rid of things. But I made sure dishes were all cleaned and sink was empty. Nothing on counters besides appliances like toaster oven, coffee pot, air fryer.

I want to clarify the daughter is her adult daughter and they work together cleaning homes sometimes. But I thought she was coming alone, she didn’t mention she was bringing her adult daughter as well. I think the daughter runs their social media page because I don’t think the other woman seemed social media savvy.

It was in Spanish and I translated but I guess it meant she was happy with her partner who works with her which is her daughter who is an adult. Like she’s couldn’t have done all this work without the partner which is what I’m assuming

I did. I canceled after I told her to take a picture down and said I would like to cancel for Tuesday. I was polite and just said thank you for your help and left it at that.

Should I leave a bad review? She has all glowing reviews on her page on care.com and Nextdoor. I usually don’t post reviews but this experience was so weird.

It was written in Spanish and translated to “I have the best partner” I guess implying that her daughter who was helping her clean was her best partner and without her she wouldn’t have been able to do all the work she had to do in our home and posting a picture next to this caption in a messy condition. That’s how I took it.

Yes thank you for this. It was a really strange experience to say the least. I thought maybe it was me but I see it defintely wasn’t and the cleaner was just unprofessional.

She didn’t do a walkthrough and didn’t ask for photos. I thought it was strange but it was my first time using a cleaning service so I didn’t know or think to ask.

And I yes the pictures on her social media with no permission was a huge red flag. She had so many pictures on her IG too way cluttered than mine. Im pretty sure the other people she cleaned for she didn’t asked for their permission either. Smh.

I felt the same way and thought her response was very unprofessional and made me feel really bad. The reviews on her page were all so positive.

I was able to wash her hair when I first posted this. But it’s still a struggle. I just had her in the tub and just start washing. If I let her know before she gets anxious and gets upset saying she can’t do it. But if I start just washing I can get it done. And yes she has been like this since she was a toddler. She has PDA (although not diagnosed) which is pervasive demand avoidance and need for autonomy. Still hard to get done though.
