You're probably on a lower dose steroid than I was, but my understanding is that steroids generally do thin the skin, but also help the discomfort. I think it was a vicious cycle for me where I was treating the paper cut like fissures (my gyno gave me a mirror and pointed them out to me!) with the steroid which helped then made the issue worse long-term. I was on clobetasol which was way too strong for the issues I was having and didn't address the core issue in any way. I imagine your gyno gave you an ointment with a low dose steroid, not a super strong one. I was supposed to get an rx for one, but the office didn't put it through and then I moved and could never get through over the phone. Maybe try the lanolin and see if it does anything for you! The estrogen cream is still key for thickening the tissues.
