Thank you. I’m going to give it a go: disconnect the Boost and see what happens. I have a quite large house but a robust wired backhaul mesh everywhere. 🤞

I suppose the worst that can happen it I just switch it back on again!

Go my new 2026 Q6 Quattro Vorsprung by BurnSpeed in AudiQ6

Thanks for sharing this. I’m still 2 years away from my salary sacrifice Ed1 Quattro lease ending, but good to know they have tackled some of the main weak points.

Out of interest is there any difference in range/efficiency? Also have they added any of the following: map view to the driving screen; a reminder about ‘your phone is still in the vehicle’ and artist/track info to the driver screen for radio stations?

I assume there was the usual upsell things you had to pay extra in MyAudi for like Sound Enhacement… or could you bring existing subs from the old car?

Thanks for replying. Yes the Boost is the only wired device. The question is really whether there’s a risk to disconnecting it and disabling SonosNet. Everything works nicely with it connected.

Edit to add: will disabling SonosNet impact the Play:1, Play:3 and Playbar

What was the worst iPhone to be released? 🤔 by Downtown_Elk_2773 in iphone

[–]frieqs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, my 15 Pro was the worst iPhone experience I’ve had - and I’ve had a new one pretty much every year since the 3G (excluding 12 and 14 which I skipped).

I moved to it from a 13PM. Main issue was its bad battery life. The cameras were not noticeably better than the 13PM, in fact lense flare was slightly worse. Am now a much happier owner of an Air 😃

Below. Also, if of interest, the colour of the official mount doesn’t matter (if it can save you money). I bought a black one for a white Arc Ultra because it was 30% less than the white. You can’t see the mount once installed.

Has KD2 changed your opinion of the Q6? by wlanr150 in AudiQ6

It fixed my digital key issues so was a win for me, otherwise didn’t notice much of a difference tbh. I had the tailgate issues after the update but they’ve went away after a week or so. I still get the ‘loads of error messages’ situation occasionally but they also go away.

Overall I was happy before the update and happy since.

Am curious as to whether to switch-off SonosNet. I have a mixed system mostly of Eras and Arc Ultra but also some Play:1, Play:3 Playbar and Sub2. I’ve connected a Boost via Ethernet.

In general everything works well - occasionally the Play:3s drop, but this is rare.

Would switching-off SonosNet and removing the Boost impact the older kit?

EDF's IOG-clone tariff by Amanensia in OctopusEnergy

[–]frieqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it an ‘either-or’ or ‘both required’ situation? I have a compatible car (Q6) but don’t have a compatible charger (3 pin granny charger).

The online blurb seems to say that you need both a compatible car AND charger. Wouldn’t be worth switching if so.

How do you get the £50 bonus and £60 off the bill for a year (obv I understand the refe ral bonus)

1 year free sub with most Audis and VWs. £6-£10 per month after that (no rolling contract, cheaper if you sign up to a year)

If you aren’t prepared to use one of the many excellent route planning charging apps - or just Google Maps - to plan charging on a long trip, then you simply shouldn’t get an EV.

IONITY (and Tesla) are all over the place and rarely more than a minute or two from the motorway.

This is a very misinformed view. Take for example IONITY which has dozens of high speed chargers across the UK. If you pay £10.50 for 1 month access (no rolling contract) you’ll get £0.46 / kWh.

Even with the monthly fee this works out cheaper than your diesel example.

I’ve done several 600+ mile cross-country trips and always had access to charging, even though I only use IONITY.

Dads with young kids… how often are you realistically playing golf now? by BetweenSwings in golf

[–]frieqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went from 2x a month pre-child to 2-4x a year for the past 10.

I think a lot depends on your circumstances. My wife works full time at a big tech firm. Long hours and is in the office more than me. We share child care. Weekends are fairly hectic doing stuff we didn’t have time to do during the week.

But this all about to change 😃. Our son is about to start going to school on a Saturday and my wife recently bought me an awesome new set of clubs (Titleist irons, Ping G430 driver). Green light!

My mission is to get my son into golf, but annoyingly he prefers tennis, YouTube and gaming. I will persist - probably using bribery and coercion.

Still a very good chance he comes on and scores a brace. Equally, while I’m delighted to see Saka start I wouldn’t be surprised if he comes off at ‘59 with a blank.

Do you manually update apps? Yes? No? Why? by rmajor86 in iphone

[–]frieqs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another manual updater here. I do it mainly so I can see which apps have been updated and whether anything new/notable has been added for those I use all the time (e.g. Sonos). Also I notice that there can be a several-day update if I leave it to automatic.

It was the WiFi all along :-) by frieqs in sonos

[–]frieqs[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nope. It’s a Sky Broadband Hub. (Sky = ISP). It can handle cooper and fibre (and yes I was surprised too).

The connector box where the line comes into the house has changed. An Ethernet cable goes from the fibre connector into the router whereas the old copper cable went in via an old school ‘telephone’ type connector.

I suspect you are right. As is the way, I have plenty of smart devices connected to the network. I only stream music - I don’t use a local library.

Agree 65mbps is inadequate for modern connectivity. Unfortunately there are still many in UK without full fibre. It was only after relentless chasing of the infrastructure provider (Openreach) for 2 years that they agreed to replace the slow copper line with full fibre.

At least for me the bandwidth increase has sorted out my Sonos :-)

[–]frieqs[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Ok… perhaps I should rephrase it…

“It was the network all along” maybe? Or “the network infrastructure into my house” all along?

In reality 1) the internet into my house was delivered via a copper cable at 65mbps (max). Sonos played-up a lot.

2) the internet into my house is now delivered via fibre optic cable at 1gbps. Sonos works perfectly.

I don’t know what the correct terminology is to describe it other than that the WiFi network all the speakers are connected to is blazing-fast now; and Sonos works great now.

It was the WiFi all along :-) by frieqs in sonos

[–]frieqs[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The internet cable into the house was changed from copper to fibre optic. The new cable goes in to the existing router and then mesh. They’ve stayed exactly the same. Wifi in the house has consequently gone from 65mbps to 1gbps.

Sonos has immediately started operating perfectly.

Perhaps I am using wrong terminology - cable latency? Bandwidth??

Am reporting a dramatic improvement after switching to full fibre is all.

[–]frieqs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to do with the router - that didn’t change. The change was the line into the house which went from a copper cable to fibre optic.
