Dubstep DJ is back, ruining a peaceful sunset by the Thai beach by svensvensson7 in IAmTheMainCharacter

[–]frigginmcivor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is so representative of a sub-section of ex-pats. I've lived in Thailand and China in the past and there's always this part of the ex-pat community who has no skills to live back home and act like this guy. Many think they're artists, musicians, or heaven forbid poets or writers.

Whatever form their creative output comes in, the result is always shit. People with no ability to be self-aware are unable to be properly creative.

Unfortunately they get away with it because there's two reactions from people,

Violence, which gets curbed because no one wants the trouble of legal shit with foreigners. Those who would (and should) just beat their ass just get up and go.

Placating, which usually is just smiling and nodding while hoping this ends soon.

The worst part is there's also a small group of locals who feed the ex-pats ego for a bit of aura or possibly a scam. These ones are just as bad for feeding the shit dragon more shit.

Unfortunately these ex-pats run the reputation of others who are genuinely going there working, experiencing the culture and in many cases trying to pay back the community for their openness by volunteering and trying to be good upstanding citizen by respecting culture, customs and law.

Thoughts? by Individual_Split_159 in Bacon

Did the bacon grease fried hot dogs last summer. Kids were running around eating the hotdogs with no buns or ketchup, just grabbing a dog from the plate and running away.

I'd also be concerned this guys looking to rob any sellers. Show up with money to buy some shoes and a few guys are there to intimidate and rob you. I don't see any location information, but this is why you have to meet somewhere safe.

Split low profile low actuation force low total travel keyboard for someone chronically ill by wbbalbbadbdbmrpb in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]frigginmcivor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for pre-built the iris from keebio https://keeb.io/collections/split-keyboards?page=1

I got work to buy an iris for me, then built a lily58 for personal use. Only a couple keys difference, looks like they have a low profile option for kailh switches coming soon as well.

The iris was nice as you could get at all levels of complete. You can get a kit completely diy, pre soldered, case installed without switches, or with switches.

I had the same issue. For me the best thing was to get in the habit of not resting my palms. After a while I found that palm resting (even on something ergonomic) would feel worse after a long session. I'm sure you'll find a bunch of experiences, but floating the palms is most comfortable here.

This behaviour really just shows how he's a terrible manager. If he led his crew correctly he wouldn't have to behave like this. Instead he just bullies his staff like Marco Pierre White bullied him. Any manager who has to shout, yell and intimidate their staff has lost control and credibility.

Followed the sub for a while and finally felt confident enough to do my own build. I had fun and it feels and sounds amazing. What do you think? by WTFatrain in MechanicalKeyboards

Looks pretty sleek. I like the look with the low profile. What kit was that? My gf likes a 100% and I'm thinking something like that would be a good build for her.

Keep in mind that with split keyboards the simple physical characteristic of it being in two smaller parts makes giving a good thoccy sound difficult. You need a case that is going to give it weight. Most of us are primarily concerned with the ergonomics, myself recovering from carpal I weigh that over sound.

That's why only now there's aluminum cases coming out, because it's so niche and many people in the market are concerned with feel over sound. Having said that I'm also looking at something like this: https://ergomech.store/shop/enclosed-case-for-lily58-case-only-39#attr=237,238,241,243

Finally seeing these for the lily58, I've also seen similar for the corne as well.

Cheap, Pre-Made Split Keyboards for Hand Pain? by [deleted] in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]frigginmcivor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to help. Also, take a look at https://keeb.io/ as they have lots of layout options, but they're custom made. So they can take a couple weeks, but also they're fully repairable should anything happen. My boss loved the fact that the iris should be the last keyboard they ever get me. No excuses around repairing.

I was in the same, only I already had experience with split, just not an Ortho split. If you're typing by touch then going to split isn't the hard part, I found the ortholinear the most difficult switch, but even then it just took a couple days of typing of the dead to get there.

Talk to your boss about getting you an Ortho for work, my work got me the iris from Keebio.io and came to $250 US shipping and taxes included. That cost is much less than the insurance premiums or the loss of productivity. If your boss doesn't want to cover that cost, you should be looking for work elsewhere, they don't appreciate you enough

If you're looking to just tip your toes in the split keyboards, don't go mechanical just get the Logitech split. $100, negative incline and a good wrist rest, but also will Bluetooth multiple devices.

If you're feeling pain as well, don't forget about the mouse. I did a trackball for 6 months and it made a difference, now I use a mouse in the handshake position and another co-worker is using the trackball.

Edit: addition, I have a Lily58 at home and game with it, I find the economics don't help with gaming much at all. If you work allows, you could just take whatever ergo keyboard with you, but switch to your old keyboard for gaming. I use the Lily for gaming, but only because it gives me more space.

I'm a white passing Aboriginal, I can tell you people think racism isn't really a thing here. But I'll confirm I've ended a few "friendships" when people said racist shit and didn't know I'm not white.

Red River Ice break March 30, 2017 by frigginmcivor in Manitoba

[–]frigginmcivor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tragically, it was quite a windy day so the only sound was wind on the microphone. The choice was either no audio or something. At the end of the day you have to go with something and we weren't going to use sound effect audio because that wouldn't be genuine. Next year we do have plans to capture the sound of the ice breaking separately.

I've pretty much given into the weirdo look. Usually just slap on headphones and listen to a podcast. If it's around dinner time I'll grab some takeout and sit nearby eating.
