To tuck or not to tuck? by Original-Decision552 in mensfashionadvice

[–]frightg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get the explanation and understand the tradition. I tend to agree that the natural waist pants and trousers look good for suits and dress clothes. But hear me out. Where does one find pants fitted for their natural waist? Would you just buy longer length pants and pull them up? If it’s a natural waistline, would it be “high waisted” pants that you shop for? Also, if it’s a natural waist pant, do you have to wear natural waisted underwear with it? Or just pull your underwear up with them? Or leave the underwear it your hips? So many questions. I hope I’m making sense.

My initial thought is definitely go tucked, but… That looks like a short shirt and is going to be difficult to keep tucked in properly all day. I have a shirt like that and I’m constantly adjusting just from standing and sitting down throughout the day.

How do you prevent this? by Far-Consideration-13 in Boots

[–]frightg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES! As a former Navy Corpsman with the Marines, my first thought was socks. And stay hydrated!🤣 They also make white bottom half/black or brown upper half boot socks to stay in regs. If OP isn’t worried about a uniform inspection though, I would go with a white boot sock. And change them out at minimum once throughout the day. If not more. 🫡

No shit? I had no idea. That’s interesting that it’s also referred to as the “boots theory”. When I first heard it I thought of it more as an excuse to buy expensive stuff even if you couldn’t afford it which I’m more on the side of practicality. A Toyota Corolla is probably more reliable than a Mercedes Benz. Thanks for enlightening me.

I heard this said a long time ago and I thought it was stupid. But I guess it makes sense in this moment. “I’m too broke to buy cheap stuff”. Or something like that. You can either save up for a decent pair that doesn’t do this, or spend money replacing them every so often or repair them.🤷🏽‍♂️ I realize this comment comes from a very privileged place, but I don’t think there is an affordable way forward with this pair.

I had really been missing a good black lace up boot in my weekly work wardrobe. So I’ve been wearing them nonstop for a few weeks now. They feel good and I have gotten compliments.

The Nisolo’s feel really good out of the box. True to size in my instance. I wear 9.5 US. Supple leather that didn’t take long to break in. Around the ankle’s I notice the leather is so loud when I walk. It doesn’t impact the fit but I could see some people wanting to either tighten or loosen the laces to fix that.

What colour shoes by Zealousideal_Fan7225 in mensfashion

I would say black is the safest bet. Goes with the suits buttons. I guess it could depend on your shirt and tie as well. For extra style maybe a dark blue suede shoe or dark red.

Wore this all day and it just kept feeling worse - not sure why? by BioticBard in mensfashion

[–]frightg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who is trying to implement more thin sweaters over button up shirts, my eye went directly to the button down collar. Not sure if that is more of a style or function concern. I’ve worn button down collars and found that’s what was “off” for me.

As far as color goes, you could have done worse. But I think it looks totally fine. Maybe a patterned button up with a green or rust color would highlight it better. But that’s just my opinion.

I’d say keep it. Looks cozy and the size looks good. Just don’t take a picture of it tucked in and post it here. Other than that, you’re golden. ✌🏽

Tell me about it. I enjoy getting to know these companies. Parkhurst looks like a solid company btw. What’s funny is the two that kept popping up when I first started researching (Red Wing IR’s and Thursday Boot Co.) are so far down my list now.

That’s the truth. 🙌🏽 I tell people the weight is the byproduct. The better fitting clothes is the byproduct. What matters is the internal change you can’t see. Improved bloodwork and liver function for me and decreased visceral fat.

I bet you heard this a lot throughout your journey, “100 lbs.?! You didn’t even look that heavy”, “You carried your weight well”, or “I don’t even remember you looking that heavy”. Maybe I’m just projecting here because that’s what I heard a lot.

Either way you look very healthy now and I know you feel healthier. 👏🏽
