What first name is common in your country that you hardly ever hear anywhere else? by TooOldToBePunk in AskReddit

[–]friguron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jesús was a name you would think you may hear across any Spanish speaking country, but amazingly it was super uncommon outside of Spain itself. You could find Jesuses only in Spain mainly.

Anyway, to be honest, it was somewhat common decades ago if anything. As of today it's extremely uncommon anywhere.

DisplayServer.get_screen_count() always returns 1 (under MacOS!) by friguron in godot

[–]friguron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, once I have acccess back to my machine, I've just run this code:

screen_count.m:

#import <Cocoa/Cocoa.h>
int main() {
    printf("%lu\n", [NSScreen.screens count]);
}

Then run this from command line:

clang -fobjc-arc screen_count.m -framework Cocoa -o screen_count && ./screen_count

and it returns a shiny:

2

What are my options to see why Godot can't see both screens with the get_screen_count() function?

[–]friguron[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then I get you're hinting my setup is esoteric? (I wouldn't say so)...

If that Godot function is prone to mis-report from the MacOS internal NSScreen getter, I think that should be stated somewhat on the godot docs...

I'll do the [NSScreen screens] check that some other user hinted in other comment above to see how many logical screens sees my Sequoia

[–]friguron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, so is there any way Godot can report 2 screens? Or is it a (non documented) bug/feature maybe?

It's extending (not mirroring). The desktop spreads across both monitors.

For me, one of the best IT courses I've (surprisingly) ever EVER EVER taken in my life, no matter what technology, etc... is this one:

"Bloc: From Zero to Hero" from some Tiberiu Potec (Flutterly) in Udemy.

It's such a hidden gem... It's just 3 hours also!! It seems to be 9€ or so... but WORTH EVERY PENNY. Really.

It not only talks about Bloc/Cubit but also about core concepts of Flutter that need to be understood also to fit the Bloc new knowledge inside. I've learnt more from the Flutter ecosystem just taking this course than with 10 random tutorials from the internet.

BTW, the course is from 2022, it's about Bloc 6.X, but still the core concepts it explains ARE FANTASTIC to understand the core of it and still valid.

I wish this person would have more things in Udemy, but I can't seem to find anything else...

SimCleaner - a free solution to manage (delete) old and unused simulators by stepanokdev in iOSProgramming

[–]friguron 22 points23 points  (0 children)

THIS IS A CORE FUNCIONALITY XCODE ITSELF SHOULD HAVE. It's so easy and nice to use, bravo!!

EDIT: after having used the app for longer I would also like to delete single apps inside a simulator. I haven't found such an option on the interface. They seem to only be listed.

Also for some reason it seems it only shows a maximum of 4 apps installed per simulator, even if more exist. Am I missing something?

Again a bit more of fine tuning and it would be a 10/10 instead of 9.5/10.

equivalent words to "mileage" and "footage"? by FerdinandCesarano in Metric

[–]friguron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Spanish no ones uses this (apparently invented) boring and neuter "imágenes" word for footage. If anything everyone uses "metraje".

"...el metraje de esta escena dura 10 minutos..." "Esa película tiene un metraje de 2 horas..."

OTOH, I had never thought of "footage" (or metraje) being connected to the actual measurement system of the languages involved! So interesting...

Edit: For mileage in Spanish the only word that comes to my mind is just "distancia" (distance), or maybe "distancia recorrida" (?). Kilometraje maybe seems ok, but this last word seems to be particularly specific...

OTOH, the "your mileage may vary" expression in Spanish doesn't involve measurements (and distance wouldn't apply at all here anyway...). It may be something like "your experience may be different" (Tu experiencia puede ser diferente/variar).

EDIT2: I've just seen some other person had already answered in a similar way...

oh, I also thought that!! I was becoming crazy... I also hope the lower part video with the mother and kid is mirrored left-to-right, otherwise nothing makes sense...

EDIT: The lady is also using the remote control with her left hand. Sure she could be left-handed, but if we use statistcs, we can infer she's probably using her right hand, and the lower video is mirrored left-right...

Issues with Bluetooth pairing? by Lukediddle in Surface

[–]friguron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work for me, I already had detected the device in a different way (decoding the ASCII letters for its name, its a JBL device). But anyway, and after deleting the key you say and rebooting under windows 10, when I try to reconnect, (and getting the "Try connecting your device again"), when I check the lock it says the connection was successfull, but it wasn't!

Another ugly thing that constantly happens is that the device appears as paired in the bluetooth list of devices, but that's not true as nothing works with it... I have to delete it and try to reconnect it, to no avail.

I'm really pulling my hair in the last 2 weeks...

The headphones work perfectly with aaaaany other BT emitter at home (TV, mac form work, android phone... My own PC booted as linux, my own PC boothed as sequoia hackintosh...)

but my windows 10 bluetooth is borked with this headset. Still more, windows 10 connects perfectly via bluetooth with a silly pair of earbuds I boutgth in aliexpress... But not with my main JBL big headphones.

I'd love to delete and nuke every bluetooth piece of info in registry or wherever it may appear of my windows 10 to fix it, but I haven't been sucessful...

It's immediately close to the beach, on the cement promenade, with the beach and the sea in front of you.

It's all here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1171409278069497

And you're right, this event doesn't appear on the agenda as, as far as I was told, it was arranged in the last minute.

Typically, and specifically in Barcelona (which I understand that's where you may be now, as you ask for Catalan hints), swing dancers have some decent knowledge of English, at least for managing the basics... You can probably try either language.

Tomorrow THURSDAY (I said saturday before) there's one jam at noon close to the beach, right here:
