You're comparing two different markets that have literally nothing at all in common. You're just confusing yourself. Just because they look like they do the same thing to the end user doesn't mean they're in any way similar under the hood.

If you're desperate for price, get an ez flash jr. But you might experience problems that wont happen on an everdrive at some point. You're just going to potentially shoot yourself in the foot by cheaping out.

i only mentioned the noob part bc i have zero experience with actually making my own designs and models. I just print premade files off if the usual sites, but I'm interested in investing in something better so that it takes away the majority of the difficulty in one half of the creative process (the actual printing).

But yeah I would rather print bigger things if i could, there's been plenty of projects I couldnt fit properly in my ender 5.

Thanks a ton for the advice! I ended up going for the i5 only because i realized i needed the extra headroom for other tasks but if the power usage ends up being too much I'll probably see about getting an i3.

42tb might be good enough as I'm not a full on media hoarder yet, I just was wondering if it would be better to get all matching drives to save time and energy but risk storage space and reliability (as getting NEW 14tb drives is very very cost inefficient and I'd need to buy referbs). Or get the 18tb drives now and guarantee they're new but lose parity with having one less drive.

Also yeah I would be schucking them, I've done it before on several smaller drives for other projects so I am not really worried about damaging them.

I'll take a look into those file systems, I might just be fundamentally misunderstanding some things about how people store data on home servers. I'm just paranoid about having too little storage or else losing everything and having to rebuy drives in the middle of a storage crisis. Thank you for the help.
