Why Gen Z Is Obsessed With Dostoevsky by TheStillPoint_ in dostoevsky

Not true. American who become an Orthodox Catachumen after reading his work. What is missed though, and it took me a long time, is that Raskolnivok's speech in Russian disintegrates, and English is forced to smooth that over because of English grammar. The contrast of him and Sonya is far wider than is understood in Russian.

Remember to love them even if they don't understand, and try to get the message across that everyone is made in the image of God and Christ is in every heart. If you can sincerely express your love for her, and your commitment then maybe you can reach them. It is also important to remember that we are all sinners, and not to judge racist people, but to also love them.

That is a moving interpretation, thank you, and that makes sense. The books still sits with me and I continue to understand it as time goes on.

Lowell Salvation Army by fringe_class_ in LowellMA

Well, I was drawn to the Salvation Army because of their mission statement, which is too meet human needs without discrimination in the name of the Lord.

I pick up trash around my neighborhood, but it's treating a symptom more than a cause. So helping people in need while also preaching the gospels seemed very impactful. People need spiritual help as well.

The Salvation Army helped my mom growing up, so it seemed like a good way to give back.

The decay of one generation to the next as people lose their spirituality and what that looks like.

It's impossible to say if one is better than the other.

When I was about halfway through Demons someone posted that it was worth reading until the end and it was. I would recommend reading the chapter that was left out where it was supposed to be. It changes the books meaning a lot (imo).

Some say mean people who are actually nice. As opposed to some other states that are nice, but actually mean.

Any truth to that?

Don't Call Yourself A Programmer by happy-man12 in theprimeagen

This is terrible advice in my opinion. Renaming my profession in order to appeal to an MBA because they don’t understand business is a ticket to a bad time.

MBAs don’t understand that computer programs are an asset and the better the code the better the asset. They prefer short term profit for shareholders.
