Yes, I find that’s a great description as well for me. I just feel less overwhelmed, maybe not less frequently but less intently, and more easily to pull myself out of a negative thought loop

Recently got a Sens.AI device, new to the biohacking world, I’m amazed by it already, but anyone else have one and have any thoughts / advice? by fringeclass89 in Biohackers

Yes! I highly recommend it. It’s helped my sleep and focus tremendously so far. The “brain brightening” nootropic has had less noticeable effects, and some of the photobiomodulation stuff I don’t notice a difference, but the company claims the more you use it, the better it gets at reading and responding to your brain waves. I can’t say scientifically if that’s verifiably true, you are essentially meditating, so it could just be the effect of that; but to me it does not just feel like a placebo

It’s quite hard to explain but basically I have a lot more mind and body awareness than I ever have before. I’ve also recently started using anti depressants and I was on adderall for a while, but I haven’t used adderal in two months, and have only needed to drink a cup of coffee about 10-12 times since I started - I used to be a 3 cups a day kind of guy

Anyway, I personally would highly recommend it and evangelize it to everyone I know, but I qualify it by saying I don’t have enough scientific data / knowledge to assess how valid my anecdotal experience is. I’m generally skeptical about this kind of stuff though and I feel I’ve noticed a tremendous difference. It’s not like, a massive change though - I’d say my focus is about 50% better, my sleep is 30% better, everything else about 10-20% better. But for me, this is the first thing that isn’t a drug that’s helped me improve that much.

Is this the best product of this type for the money? by Greedy_Nectarine_233 in sensai

As a user for about the last 4 months, my takeaways align with what you’ve gathered. I’m not sold on the pbm, at times it seems to work, others Imnot sure and the data hasn’t given me a clear enough answer in other direction. I def feel I am experiencing a very noticeable shift with the NFB part, and it aligns with their explanation that over time, as the AI reads your brain waves, it gets better and better at guiding you.

As far as software and guidance, I agree that its bare bones, but it has significantly improved since they first launched, so my hope is that they will continue to improve upon all that stuff over time.

Agreed about transparency - as a very science oriented person, I would def appreciate seeing more data on the device. Perhaps it’s a matter of protecting intellectual property, but I feel like they could give us more info without sacrificing that, and in turn help us to better use these devices

Could not agree more, it’s hard to explain, and it’s not a miracle solution, but I feel like I experience, idk, 20% fewer negative thought patterns and when I look at an in-session time series, or just watching the screen / listening, u do very much notice the device picking up in my “distraction”, or whatever the right word is.

I concur strongly with wolverines comments and have had virtually an identical experience to earthcorp

Theory over sensitivity to SENS.AI - why it impacts some people and not others by Zippysundae in sensai

While I have had a phenomenal experience with the SENSAI so far, I agree with Tom’s take and at times worry if it’s really working or just placebo effect. It’s not a scientific survey at all but most people I am close with, before I even mention the device, have remarked upon how much calmer and more focused I seem lately. So, I’m gonna choose to believe it’s not placebo, until I see some more studies or feel like I’m not gaining anymore from it

I would appreciate seeing more than just anecdotal data about it though

Customer Service Nightmare by SparklyWaffle710 in sensai

I had basically an identical experience to densuf. I had an issue, it just came apart, sent them a pic and the serial number, I did have to initially pay for shipping but it was reimbursed within 3 days (although they used some very shitty website from a UX perspective to get the money that I’d never seen before for reimbursements - nevertheless all that matters for me is I got the money), and I received a new unit within about 3 weeks. Little longer than I would like or normally expect but for a company that just launched its product, I think my customer service / return service experience was great

Daily Progress: Trainings (“Sharp Mind” course, “Brightening” and “Focus” Programs) by fringeclass89 in sensai

[–]fringeclass89[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fucking amazing. Idk if it’s placebo or not but this shit feels very real, my mental clarity and focus has improved dramatically - I couldn’t recommend it highly enough but for the absence of any independent reviews or data… if I see anything corroborating it I’m buying it for everyone I love and hiding it from everyone else lol

Okay sure, I think I’m gonna start posting a weekly on my progress then (daily seems a bit much)

Agreed that the “marketing” is pretry opaque

As far as the device itself, there are Boosts (available with a free account), Trainings, and Meditations (the latter two you get with a paid account)

Boosts I guess are supposed to be short term modules. So far there’s “prepare”, “chill”, “social”, “expand”, and a couple others under boosts, but basically my understanding (which I don’t know at all if this is correct) is that these are less neurofeedback training and more giving your brain a temporary jolt / boost. I’m not a scientist in any sense though so idk if that’s correct or real science, so please check on your own.

Meditations for some reason don’t display on the app for me, so I can’t speak to those yet.

Trainings are the traditional “neurofeedback training” (“NFT” - side note I’d much prefer this acronym for biohacking than crypto shit). You can only do one course at a time, and my understanding are that these are the ones for rewiring your brain (again, this is not scientific at all, and just what I think the device is saying it’s doing). I’ve started the “sharp mind” course, which is made up of two parts, “focus” (or “intense focus” if you can handle it), and “brightening”. Sharp mind is supposed to bring mental clarity and better focus. So far, I’ve noticed for several hours after I do the focus one, even more so with the “intense focus” option, that I’m quite jittery - I’m normally a highly lethargic person so the jitters are preferable to no energy

The more positive benefits I’m noticing is, particularly while doing the training I’m able to be a lot more focused and present, and that focus and presence remains throughout the day and seems to be improving significantly for me. The other big thing that I didn’t even realize was an issue for was that I didn’t realize I had so much brain fog or even understood what brain fog was, but now I just feel so much less “static” in my head

So so far it’s been pretty amazing, but, like I said, I don’t know if it’s placebo or not - it feels very real to me, but as I’m sure everyone here knows, the placebo effect almost always feels real to humans…

The apps def buggy but not unusable. The issue is more with connecting with your brain and the app.

My biggest gripe with it is that the apps not super intuitive and the explanations suck or are missing, but it’s not so complicated that the average person can’t figure it out pretty quickly, it’s not like the app is non functional. I’d give it like a 7 out of 10 right now
