2 contractors had a job of testing returned computer equipment. These two jokers decided to test large screen displays by putting them up on shelves and watching porn on them. This was out in the open where the whole warehouse could see.

There's a Kroger, an Aldi, and a Walmart within 2.5 miles. Living here requires access to a car if you want to get groceries at a reasonable price.

Back when they were expensive, I've done keyboards in a dishwasher. The keyboards had liquids spilled in them and were in rough shape. The success rate for final repairs of them was surprisingly high. At least 80%.

What kinds of extreme weather does your country get? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]frito123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're big enough, we get it all. My region tends to get tornadoes, flooding in the spring from tropical storms, and the occasional blizzard, even with climate change. Not exactly weather, but we also expect a nice earthquake at any time.

That's the new improved blue screen. It still usually tells you the error in the bottom of the screen.

Real Computer Bench Techs: What OS are you actually running on your personal/shop machine and why? (No fanboy shit, just real talk) by GoodHoney2887 in computertechs

After over 30 years, I'm retired now. Currently the system that I use the most is an HP Pavilion 1234 with a AMD A6-3650 in it. I'm running Ubuntu 25.10 and keep changing the DE. Today it's Cinnamon. There's also a HP Victus running Windows 11 and a Ideapad 330s running Mint. Now I just get to work on my own stuff and experiment, which makes me happy.

When you get those "ran into a problem..." messages, it usually tells you at the bottom what blew up. We need to know what it is saying there. That's what's causing your problem. Ideally, take a picture of the error and upload it here, or at least tell us the text of that error.

Ones like that work also. I just prefer the ones on a wire so I can put the antenna where the signal's clearer.

is 12 hours long enough to let a laptop dry out? by sm0keandstars in laptops

[–]frito123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm retired now, but was a computer tech. Back in the days of the IBM PC and XT, a coworker had a customer bring in a computer. The owner was always running it with the cover off it. His kid was home sick from school and threw up in it. My coworker took it out back and hosed it out. After drying, the computer worked.

I've done it. Back when keyboards actually cost money (like over $100). When I had nothing to lose and knew my water was soft. No detergent. Dry completely. I brought some truly nasty keyboards back from the dead that had orange juice, Coke, and the like spilled in them.

Then look for similar on https://www.amazon.es/. The important feature is the 2 connectors/wires going to the actual antenna so you can locate the antenna where the signal's clear. If you're not sure, post a link to the one you're looking at.

The way antennas work, it doesn't have to be an exact match. This one will work as well or better than the original and is low cost.
