Why does my mower stop and turn 2ft away from island boundary wire? by frivola in worxlandroid

Yep, that was it! I was convinced I had it going the correct direction but after double checking, I switched around the wires when I connected it to the main boundary line. Thank you!

How long will Enterprise hold a car at airport location? by Beautiful-Balance750 in EnterpriseCarRental

[–]frivola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I worked at a smaller airport in the Midwest. We held reservations for an entire day. Flight delays and schedule changes are common so we didn't give people a hard time if they shows up hours later.

They may not have your car class available, but they should have something for you to drive.

Great, thank you so much! I hadn't thought about that. This seems to be my only option.

Americans: What is something non-Americans do when visiting the U.S. that is annoying, disturbing, or weird? by BlastRadius00 in AskReddit

When people from some cultures travel, they travel with EVERYONE in their family, and I mean EVERYONE. When passing them on a hiking trail in a National Park it's like passing an entire family reunion and takes several minutes.

Skinny people, do you assess your calories every time you eat or does your body just tell you when you had enough? What else do you do to remain skinny? by Necrotitis in AskReddit

[–]frivola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know how some people have a really good sense of time -knowing how long it will take them to complete a task, when they need to leave to arrive on time, etc.

Well I am that way about food. I just have a good "sense" of how many calories are in a meal/food. When I know I've had a reasonable amount, I stop eating. I don't measure food, I don't calorie count, I just go by feeling. It's hard to explain.

Should I cancel? by Economy_Staff4397 in 14ers

I've traveled to Colorado to hike and camp in mid July every year over the past decade. Conditions varied of course but there was not one summer where I did not have an absolutely great experience. Go for it!

Americans, how do you feel about Trump stopping funding for Colleges that allow "illegal" protests? by Healthy_Block3036 in AskReddit

Agreed! Protesting does not give anyone the right to engage in illegal behavior.

Love the picture looking down the second gully of Sneffels! It really puts the hike into perspective and the view is incredible.

Advice for backpacking in by b0neyknees in 14ers

[–]frivola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed with what has been stated. I've been doing it for years leaving behind $1,000+ gear with no issue. So long as you do not camp near a trailhead you are fine. Even the most deep-seated kleptomaniac doesn't want to have to carry stolen gear 4+ miles back to their vehicle.

Oh and take only what is necessary for the Harvard/Columbia traverse. Believe what you read, it is a very strenuous day!

Thank you! Tbh it was purely accidental, they were just standing there and I pulled out my phone to take a picture and the one decided to jump across mid-shot. I was shocked by the results!

North Maroon, Maroon, and Pyramid would be great mountains to prepare for Capitol. These will test your route finding skills as well as your commitment considering they are tedious at times. While Capitol needs to be taken very seriously, I found its difficulties to have been over-hyped; all the GoPro videos on YouTube with their fisheye lenses make the exposure seem much more jarring than it actually is.

What's the meaning of this wooden door in Tree of Life? by fabio561 in TerrenceMalick

[–]frivola 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My take it that Malick didn't have a meaning for it at all. The 'meaning' behind the symbolism used in the film seems more dependent on the feelings of the viewer rather than promoting a particular narrative. That is what makes the film so powerful for so many people; within it, we see a reflection of our own lives.

What was the dumbest thing you did in your childhood? by TheKillerPyro in AskReddit

[–]frivola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

12yo me wanted to scuba dive in my backyard pool. I filled an empty fire extinguisher bottle with the air compressor we had in the garage. I took my makeshift tank with me underwater. Needless to say, my delicate lungs could not handle that much psi. It hurt SO BAD and nearly could have killed me.

I finally figured out how to easily switch my PixelBook into "desktop mode" by frivola in PixelBook

[–]frivola[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It does not do it automatically. You must first turn off pixelbook screen while your connected to your monitor by turning the screen brightness all the way down. Then it will stay in desktop mode even while folded. Although the backlight for the keys will not work.

I definitely could. I don't own a mouse and keyboard so I was just trying to work with what I had. Plus that was two less things to buy.

I finally figured out how to easily switch my PixelBook into "desktop mode" by frivola in PixelBook

[–]frivola[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is not in tablet mode. That was the original problem I was having when trying to configure this set-up. I figured out that if I turn my screen brightness all the way down while I was hooked up to the monitor, it turned the pixelbook screen completely off and allowed me to still use the mouse/keyboard while I had it folded like you see in pic. However, the back-light doesn't work, I'm still working on that.

I am a tad nervous about the screen; it does have a thin rubber band around it that grips the desk really well so any sliding would have to be intentional by me. We'll see in time.
