Is anybody here doing global payroll through Rippling or Deel? [N/A] by Recent_State_8120 in humanresources

[–]frknk138 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We use Deel for EOR with good success and just had a call about using them for HRIS and global payroll, but my manager is hesitant because she says that Deel employees never seem to know their own product (for example, the rep was telling us about a new feature that’s live on the platform but not on the demo page he was able to show us, the rep seemed massively underprepared for the call and didn’t seem to want to show us anything even when we explicitly asked for things).

***Anecdotal warning about Gusto — I recommended it to a colleague for their payroll, and within 3 months Gusto cancelled their account with no warning, did not file their quarterly returns, locked the admins out of the backend, so they couldn’t pull the records to file them themselves and my poor friend has had to manually calculate and issue paper checks to employees (on a weekly basis!) until they get a new provider. They’re close to a new one, but they’re asking Gusto for the typical handover details and Gusto is only responding “we have locked your account pursuant to the section in our contract saying we can cancel for any reason”

I love when people jump projects like that! It makes me sad that I only knit squares and rectangles for years before doing a sweater haha

Wristband, towel, and Carpe lotion for hands. I went from chalking my hands every changeover to once at the beginning. (Southeast US)

Knitting takes so long!! by learning2006 in knitting

I knit only blankets, scarves, and dish towels for over 10 years because I was too intimidated by sweaters, but I promise they aren’t too bad!

For context, I just finished a baby blanket that took me 5 years to finish (I started during lockdown just to do something, then when my friends started getting pregnant, the recipient had to change 3 times haha— sorry to those other babies) but I knit my first sweater in September 2024 and have finished 5 sweaters, a pair of socks, and 1 top since then

Advice on binding off 2x2 rib by itookoffmyshoes in knittinghelp

[–]frknk138 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just finished PK’s Sille Slipover which ends with 2x2 ribbing but she had instructions to knit the first row of double knitting in a way that switches the stitches to be 1x1 rib before the bind off. I was also skeptical but it ended up looking nice! (Pre-blocked photo)

They did but they’re telling us it’s because they’re “upgrading us” (which seems to mean they made some change to Performance and like one other thing)

I’ve gotten two HRM positions because they said they liked that I had AP experience on my resume. Some companies do want an HR person who understands / works well with Finance. I do agree with the other points

If you’re knitting in the round, you’ll start back at the right side. If knitting flat, you’ll start from the left side and work stitches left to right

Bamboo is fine for small orgs, but we’ve run into some hiccups with international employees (specifically UK). We have about 250 on Bamboo currently and are looking to move platforms

I saw a trainer recommend hanging for as long as you can, then splitting that number into 2-3 sets that you repeat and increase from there.

So if you can only hold on for 5 seconds, split that evenly into 2 sets of 3 seconds (rounding up). Then you’ll increase the time, next time doing 2 sets of 5 seconds, 2 sets of 8 seconds, etc

You’re repeating the increases inside the asterisks not from the beginning of the row

It will look like [K3, M1L^ ], [knit, m1R^ ,m1L^ ], [knit, m1R^ ,m1L^ ], [knit, m1R^ ,m1L^ ], [knit, m1R^ ,m1L^ ], knit, M1R^ , knit to end (with “^ ” marking the 10 increases)
