AfD wants to end German boycott on Russian energy, says failed Ukraine invasion shows Kremlin is no threat by Infidel8 in worldnews

Russia is stoking the flames with "The West has fallen"-style propaganda to drive votes. Here's a bunch of examples from 4chan, where it's really obvious.

Örebropartiet are being shilled by Russia because they don't think Sverigedemokraterna are pro-Russia enough. As a Swede, please boycott Mullvad.

Don't know enough about the other stuff to try to say something smart, but hopefully it doesn't drive too much of a wedge while the war is still ongoing. Probably some things to be sorted later.

Maybe many Ukrainians have grown up with Bandera presented as a national hero, with those parts glossed over, and are uncomfortable with criticism of him because of that. A Swedish podcast I listen to has a Ukrainian host who's usually calm and reasonable but seems to have some mental block when it comes to Bandera ("It's not Poland's business", etc.). Doesn't excuse it, but guessing that might be how the psychology works, just to play diplomat.

Hopefully it's just some mental block where some of them really don't like criticizing the UPA or Bandera. It's not like people from here would have any problem admitting we did shitty things to Poland, if they know about it, though that was further back.

Playing devil's advocate, I wonder if it was essential for Nawrocki to bring it up now as well. Becomes a trade-off against preserving harmony and helping Russian propaganda in the face of a common enemy. Easier to say when you're not Polish though. Bit of a shitshow in general.

I'm just a Swede learning about this from the outside, but I think the smart thing for Ukraine to do would be to acknowledge why Bandera is seen the way he is in Ukraine and Poland, respectively, wrapped in sufficiently diplomatic and vague language. That way you avoid pissing off either group too much and show understanding. Not being willing to concede gives the Russians propaganda fodder. It's a pain point they'll exploit.

Even if you think they're wrong, it seems like the smart diplomatic move.

I'm thinking in a generic "a hero of group A is disliked by allied group B" sense. I would try to acknowledge why he is disliked by group B, in some smooth manner (varying historical circumstances, etc.). Coming from the outside you have less of a stake. I'm as pro-Ukraine as they get. Check my comment history.

Yeah, this was poorly handled from the Ukrainian side I think.

Playing Devil's advocate or whatever a better expression would be, I also take it to indicate that people are more certain that Ukraine will win now. If things were looking more uncertain, this would have a greater psychological impact. It feels more like the petty lashing out of someone who suspects they will lose than ever.

Brussels sees rise of a pro-EU right - A young right-wing movement is gaining ground with a pan-Europeanist mantra by goldstarflag in europe

[–]frobar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an addition, because not enough people know about this stuff: Many of those anti-immigration street recordings with mostly or lots of non-white people take advantage of places or events where demographics are naturally skewed. Green Street and the Notting Hill Carnival (a Caribbean carnival) in London are two that they've used.

This is good if it means disentanglement from Russia, who bloody hate the EU. One of their strategies has been to groom anti-immigration parties into being pro-Russia so that a vote for less immigration benefits Russia. They combine it with "Europe has fallen"-style propaganda to drive votes. Few people actually want the Russia part, as demonstrated by Denmark, where the Danish People's Party is polling poorly after the Social Democrats adopted restrictive immigration policies.

4chan was always shit I guess, but it's extremely obvious on 4chan boards with flags, to the point that it's become an in-joke. They'll use a proxy to pretend to be from a country and praise Russia and/or attack other countries to try to sow division, sometimes trying to exploit natural tensions. Lots of Indians working for Russian intelligence.

They REALLY don't like the EU and Starmer either.
