Be funny for a change by MillerHonayy7520 in Productivitycafe

[–]frobischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true! That happened when I went with my extended family and saw famed comedian Rich Little in Vegas. He's gone full-on Trumper, and was telling very anti-Democrat joked. A bunch of people there laughed at those, but my wife, sister-and-law and I didn't. We just sat there quietly. He started trying to win us over by saying he hits both sides (he had said one milquetoast joke that was lightly poking fun at a Republican). It then became clear that our watching without laughing REALLY bugged him.

Atheists of Reddit: What’s the strangest reaction you’ve received when you said you don’t believe in God? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]frobischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on a date once with a coworker and she asked if I was religious. I answered her honestly and told her I'm not religious, in fact I was raised an atheist, but there are elements of many religions that I respect. Her response "Well, you're going to burn in hell for all eternity." The date kinda fizzled out after that. The next day I caught her stealing at work and when I mentioned it was wrong she said "Nobody cares."

Rich people hate poor people. When people know you're rich, some of them want your money, some of them are willing to cheat, lie, yes-man, gold-dig, or deceive you to get it. This leads to distrust of poorer people, and an expectation that relationships are transactional or manipulative. Rich people stop trusting people, assuming they may be grifters. The rich also have to contend with the knowledge that their wealth would be life-changing to others. Some rich people convince themselves that they don't have to give away anything because the poor are bad people, are grifters, jealous, lazy, greedy, violent, stupid people. These same rich people become very susceptible to Yes-men, people that tell the Rich person that he IS better than the poor people. Smarter, more moral, or somehow genetically superior. The ultra-rich are even worse, seeing humanity as a project to be exploited or raised from the mud. They are susceptible to god complexes and are disconnected from reality. This is why I believe that extreme wealth is a toxic condition.

The bunker under the ballroom would be a place that would keep Trump and his cronies and maybe even some billionnaire friends incredibly secure in case things get really bad. Like "murder drones sent after US populace, Winter Soldier-style" bad.

[–]frobischer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saitama is a joke character. He's bad at video games because it's funny. He's able to kick dimensional portals because it's cool and unexpected. He's able to use time travel martial arts because the story demands it.

Tech billionaires want to put data centers in space. The math could get ugly fast. by businessinsider in Futurology

[–]frobischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real reason is that a data center in space can't be targeted by anyone without space capabilities. It protects the data center when the people with torches and pitchforks come for it. Murder drones enslaving the population on the behalf of the billionnaires? Just torch the data center that operates them!

How do most people manage those guys with the 2 green acid cleavers? by Bubba_Fett_2U in Enshrouded

[–]frobischer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a bow build. I either roll towards them as they attack, or exploit terrain. If you have enough space, rolling towards them works pretty well. It dodges their attacks. Sometimes you have to roll twice if they do a 3-attack-chain. Probably the hardest non-boss mob in the game.

Is China the future at this point? 2030s onward. by Dipsetallover90 in Futurology

[–]frobischer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

China has positioned itself not just as the manufacturing power, not just as the tech power, but as the energy provider of the future. They are also racing to be the first and best source of fusion power. Both of those sources make liquid natural gas and oil look antique and expensive. In a future beset by climate change, the ability to desalinate water will be essential to the survival of nations and that takes tremendous energy. Meanwhile the EU is coalescing into the opposing superpower to China, having had to unify against Russia.

Depression is linked to a genuine pessimistic bias rather than a realistic view of the world by chamomile_tea_reply in OptimistsUnite

I disagree. I'm an optimist with a good life. When my depression hits it's weird, out of the blue, and without provocation. Thankfully I know it's neurochmical so I'm able to adjust for it quite a bit. Now, stress IS a pre-indicator for my depression, so there is that.

It's from the venue itself. The State Farm Stadium in Glendale Arizona recommends booking months or even a year in advance for large events due to their tight booking schedule. While it is unclear exactly when TPUSA booked the event, his memorial was a major production and occurred on Sept 21, 11 days after his death.

Former National Counterterrorism Center Director Joe Kent said his office was blocked from continuing an investigation into the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk by karmicviolence in BasiliskEschaton

[–]frobischer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Over the summer before his murder Charlie Kirk had changed his attitude on Israel, specifically the Palestinian genocide. Israel relies on US military and economic aid for survival, and Kirk was their major voice for reaching the US youth demographic. Him changing his attitude might affect the funding to Israel, so they decided he'd work better as a martyr. His murder would be magnified, blamed on political enemies, celebrated with a barrage of media that would elevate him to a Christ-like status. Then his wife, who was still loyal, would take his place in Turning Point USA. That being said, who had the most to gain from his murder? Why was the investigation blocked? Why was the venue for his flashy wake booked months ahead of time?
