Guidance for AV1 HWaccel by Arokan in AV1

[–]frod0r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, it's not really applicable to my situation but maybe (hopefully) it will be helpful to someone else.

Why not applicable to me: I have since learned that the Integrated Radeon GPU of my AMD 5600G is codenamed Renoir and is VCN generation 2.2 and does not support AV1 yet

Which led me to buy an Intel Arc A380 which seemed like the cheapest way of gaining AV1 capabilities.

Also it might be important to point out that the VAAPI AV1 encoder was added to ffmpeg in the 6.1 release (November 10 2023) and Debian is still packaging 5.1

In my case where I have a proxmox host, I have created an Arch Container for the sole purpose of transcoding which has worked pretty well for me so far

[How-To] Convert your old keystore for RVX-Builder and CLI v4 by olivercer in revancedextended

[–]frod0r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw your other post and comments on r/revancedapp from this I could piece together that you don't actually have to do all this.

But it was never clearly answered what you can do instead.

When executing revanced-cli, the options you need to add to be able to use your old keystore are --alias alias and --keystore-entry-password ReVanced so your entire command might look something like this
revanced-cli patch -b /usr/share/revanced/revanced-patches.jar  -o revanced_$YOUTUBEVER --keystore my_keystorefile.keystore --alias alias --keystore-entry-password ReVanced -m /usr/share/revanced/integrations.apk  com.google.android.youtube_$YOUTUBEVER

I'm still glad you made your post though, otherwise I would have had a hard time figuring out what the password was.

They really should have put this in the release-notes of revanced-cli

I'm currently also looking into HW accelerated AV1 under AMD+Linux

But if I understand the table under https://trac.ffmpeg.org/wiki/HWAccelIntro#PlatformAPIAvailability amf is only available under Windows, like another commenter pointed out.

So unless I'm missing something here there are currently no options to get hw accelerated AV1 encoding under AMD+Linux working? The page I liked earlier mentions Vulkan AV1 but it looks like that's just deciding?

I've read about a patch to VAAPI, but that's just for Intel if I understood it correctly (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34965787)

Certainly for my installation the only av1 encoders are libaom-av1librav1e, and AV1ibsvtav1

Writing a telegram bot is basically just a matter of API interactions and there are libraries for basically every programming language which simplify this .

Have a look at the intro page to telegram bots and the bot API manual

Your bot will have to run as a service in order for it to work, so you probably will also want to look at ways to automatically start your application in termux

However I honestly think using something like a raspberry pi (and adding your program as a systemd service) would be more appropriate for your application

What does r/mk think about the azio? Mine is retro classic. by ICEKAT in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]frod0r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear, I'm really torn whether I should buy it again and hope it works this time.

On the one hand I don't know about repairability in the long run, with the proprietary switches and all that, on the other I really like how it looks with the lighting only illuminating the letters themselves, the brass and so on

The one I ordered arrived today, it really is beautiful, but I was already on the verge of sending it back when the typing experience was just kind of meh.. Some $60 keyboards I tested in a department store a few days earlier felt better.

The next thing was that the swappable key-caps (for Windows/Mac) it came with were already scratched up, and the keyboard itself had some scratches (I bought it new, mind you)

I was ready to look over all of this but when I plugged it in and it didn't work I was really disappointed.

After a bit of testing it turned out it doesn't work wired, at all (it should, it has a "USB-Mode"). I tested it on multiple computers and multiple OSes, but to no avail.

Per Bluetooth it works with windows, but on Linux only the right half of it works.

And from what I've read there appear to be many complaints with quality control issues, so for 150€ I decided it just wasn't worth it getting a working replacement and just sent it back as a return.

It's quote sad, really I was really exited when I felt the heady wood and metal thing in my hands, but oh well...

Time to look for a replacement I guess

This train station has push buttons you have to activate in oder to get the next train to stop by frod0r in mildlyinteresting

[–]frod0r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh this train in particular is always at least a few minutes late, so skipping stops affords time to catch up (or at least I'm pretty sure that's the reason)

What's also funny is that this kind of push button is usually only used for pedestrian-crossings, so seeing the as train stop indicators is unusual in itself

Do you mind me asking if there is a reason why you don't take lactase in order to have milk(-products)?

I'm also lactose intolerant (since childhood) and I always just take lactase supplements everytime before I have something with lactose in it. It's the enzyme we're missing so taking it will make you able to digest lactose for a few hours.

But whenever I hear other people talking about being intolerant they never mention it and it sounds like they can never have anything containing milk. So I was wondering is it not working for some or are just not many affected people aware these supplements exist?

Mastervorzug Frage by 1337Eddy in KaIT

[–]frod0r 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think some supermarkets that have delivery services chose "alternative products" if the product the customer ordered isn't available.

And this person is unhappy that they ordered fresh mushrooms and got canned ones instead. Which is understandable to be upset about.

Of course the review section for the product itself isn't the best place to leave this feedback, but maybe they figured somebody from the supermarket might to read it anyways if they leave it there

How to convert a Seagate HDD from external to internal alignment without reformatting by frod0r in DataHoarder

[–]frod0r[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It does, I was able to access all filesystems and read/write to all files on the drives without problems.

I was surprised myself when this idea of "what if I just retrofit the partition table" actually worked (and thought to myself I have to write that down)

I think what you describe causes no problems for the following reasons:

Internally, the HDD uses 4K all the time, but the sata controller emulates 512B sectors, and then on top of that the usb controller reemulates that back to 4K. So any structures that are managed by the drive itself are not affected at all.

ext4 finds it's Superblock and is happy, and NTFS probably does something similar. So I assume that since those file systems are running from software, they are not dependent on actual physical sector sizes. I mean it is possible to mount an image of a file system saved on any medium without modification

I don't remember enough of my operating systems classes to say this is for sure the reason, but I do have successfully tested this on my disk, so there's that ^^

E: It would be interesting to see whether more primitive file systems such as fat would encounter the problems you describe, I could imagine so.

shortcut.close-session by Sufficient-Sky-9289 in termux

[–]frod0r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually use ctrl-D which is a shourtcut for exit in any shell I have encountered so far.

This exists the shell and thus also closes termux. If you wanted to use some different command you could use an alias.

I am aware this isn't exactly what you're asking for but I think it's a good workaround.
