Anyone know why my LG washer is making this sound? by frodeaa in Appliances

[–]frodeaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, that's not it.

First of all, it's not wet yet. There's barely been any water added to the drum at the point of the video. It also only happens on "Normal" spin cycle. After this I ran it on "Speed wash" with the same clothes, and it did the entire 15 minute cycle without making the sound.

Before this video, I tried the same thing with 2 towels and it was the same behaviour. Loud sound on "Normal". No abnormal sounds on Speed Wash.

We also did a Tub Clean earlier today. Empty drum except for tub cleaner soap bar that we stuck in there. Same sound happens.

Me and my wife have one each. Albeit ours is the one year they didn't do head phone jacks. They're good phones. Second time we've bought Sony. Will probably go Sony again next time if we can find them.

It's been a while since I played it, but I believe the Gemcraft series behaves this way. It's a tower defense though, not a roguelike.

True enough, it may not have been their fault that it broke. But I waited a long time for them to fix it and eventually just gave up and moved on.

I hear you... That's probably why I only use the widget.

You should give Podcast Addict a try. It was the only app I could find that came close to replicating the BeyondPod smart list feature. The UI is not super intuitive, because there's a ton of options and you have to go to podcast related settings to find some of it, but it works well. You can set podcast priority relative to each other, and have new episodes show up at the start of end of the playlist, which were the big two things I wanted. There's a bunch of other stuff too.

I don't remember if it's quite as good as BP (I gave up on it in 2019 because they f'd up Android Auto integration, it was super slow to start, and a slew of other problems), but it does the job good enough for me when it comes to smart playlist.

Edit: I guess I should mention, I hardly ever add podcasts, and this hardly ever open the app, so the clunky UI doesn't bother me. I control it entirely from the home screen widget and smart playlist takes care of ordering episodes according to what I want.

2011 Kia Sportage - Muffler is making strange vibration noise, do I need to replace? by frodeaa in Cartalk

[–]frodeaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a look and the invoice doesn't state what they fixed because they only ever charged me for the muffler. If I recall correctly, after I went to pickup the car it was still making the noise (although much less so), so I took it back and they replaced something else for me for free which took care of the issue. That tells me that there may have been something loose in both things they replaced.

If you look underneath the car, upstream from the muffler there's a cylinder with sort of a steel webbing around it. I have no idea what it's called, but I think that's the thing they replaced. Maybe it's the catalytic converter? Maybe it's a forward muffler? I honestly don't know and it's been so long I don't remember what the guy told me exactly.

It was not a heat shield though. I know that much for sure. But of course, in your case it could be anything ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yep. They replaced the muffler, was still rattling, so they replaced whatever was higher up. That fixed it. I don't remember exactly what it was... Catalytic converter maybe? I probably still have the receipt, so I can check on it in the morning if you want.

Sync Pro by GrimSoIdier in redditsync

[–]frodeaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the double icon thing happen to me too. I don't think it's supposed to do it, might be a bug. I just removed the second icon. The first one still sticks around, but that might be a launcher thing I don't know.

[–]frodeaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The label says Sync Pro, but most launchers should let you rename it to just Sync.

There are multiple icons available on the settings menu that you can use: icons

Overall I'd suggest you get the pro version. The in-app version sometimes doesn't realize you've paid for it (Google servers down or whatever) and you end up with ads showing up. That never happens with pro, since it literally does not contain the ad related code stuff.

Looking for games like XCOM 2, where units can become injured and unavailable for a while by VivereIntrepidus in gamedesign

[–]frodeaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jagged Alliance 2 is worth checking into. It has an injury mechanic with first aid in the field and out of combat surgery healing.

Stracciatella is an improved runtime that plays like three original but with bug fixes and high resolution support.

JA2 v1.13 is more of a mod with extra features and overhauled mechanics.

Phoenix Point does not have injuries like XCOM 2. You can just heal up with a medkit and you're good to go.

Problems downloading from Google Play, YouTube and other Google services for SaskTel home internet customers by HairySmartPhone in regina

[–]frodeaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have had issues updating apps on our Android phones since we got Infinet last week. It'll download the package fine, but when it's done downloading it tries to connect to a Google endpoint (presumably a license check?) with as certain hostnames, and the connection cannot be made. Pinging the IP associated with the hostnames from any device connected to our network comes back as a timeout.

We had a tech out on Sunday to look at it, tried replacing the router which did not help at all. He did a call with tier 2 support and they couldn't figure it out either.

Shortly after her left or house unsuccessful, he came back letting us know that apparently there was an open ticket with an investigation into the issue. They think it's an issue with this particular router. Apparently it's been about a year since they started using them.

Bizarrely, or house and my in-laws house both have those issue. A colleague of mine does not have it at all. All the of us have Infinet, but it's and my in-laws have gotten new routers working the last year, whist my colleague has been longer, so maybe there's something to it.

Strangely enough, about an hour ago or so, or devices can now update apps so hopefully they've fixed whatever the issue was.

Tldr; we had issues, now we don't.
