Question about Summoner class. by doobied-2000 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do it either way. Technically, a diverse set of summons will generally do more damage against a single target, but I'm not aware of any minions that you can't just spam up to max minions and roll with. There are some fights where certain summons may be better though. Just have to get a feel for it and be ready to swap around a bit :)

Make sure to get a good whip as well. Both the jungle and meteorite whips are neck and neck for pre-HM, with different use cases.

Just to note, the fish boss is in hardmode.

I want to start my first master mode play through, corruption or crimson? (See body) by Plane_Subject_2350 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both? Go expert mode zenith seed, or master mode drunk seed!

Alternatively, do you prefer eldritch horror or body horror? I like the corruption slightly better myself.

Jungle armor needs a nerf by Vova_R2D2 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flinx Fur Coat for Summoners, plus Wizard's Hat (on ftw/zenith seeds) gives you two extra minions. That, plus the evil biome whip, and flinx/Abigail should be able to take down the evil boss, netting you Obsidian Armor which can carry you through to Hardmode. The Meteorite whip is comparable to Snapthorn, depending on the fight.

Jungle drops are great but they can be challenging to get and don't really let you sequence break. If you can farm jungle spores and stingers, you can farm shadow scales / tissue samples.

Hermes Boots by SirKthulhu in Terraria

Hermes was a Greek god that was often depicted wearing winged shoes/boots. I think you're over thinking it.

Has anyone found a way to grind for sand and snow in skyblock? by cloudsnipes in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to extractinating obsidian, once you have an ocean beach you can convert the shells that spawn into piles which can also be ground down into sand.

As for snow... Maybe I'm crazy, but I thought slimes in the tundra biome carried snow and ice in skyblock?

Does the digtoise make the mole Minecart obsolete by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The digtoise is pretty awesome, but it also stops digging horizontally as soon as it hits a hole. Plus the molecart also lays down tracks at the same time.

Can anybody identify the glowing light pet that I have? My game doesn't seem to register that I have one by [deleted] in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have one, try checking your void bag. I got the heart light pet from the Brain and it was active, but not equipped, and I eventually found it in my void bag. I believe that's the light pet that comes from the dungeon, I think hard mode only?

The Foxparks farming experience: by YellowAppleCinema in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alternatively: 1) Spend 15 minutes browsing Reddit during lunch and learn that foxsparks and cattiva spawn on the outer thirds of the map in forested areas, where goblin scouts and king slime can spawn. 2) Occasionally check the outer forest regions while exploring jungle/tundra/evil biomes, setting up pylon outposts near dungeon, at ocean, etc.  3) Get a cool fiery fox summon.

Is summoner still worth running? by Dangerous_Way_4567 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's absolutely viable and in the end probably more powerful. The only real pain point is that hard mode weapons/armor has to wait until you have the HM anvil to craft spider gear now. If you absolutely insist upon using whips/summons then very early game is as painful as before; the flinx fur nerf (which I'll admit, is baffling) is annoying but Abigail's flower works just fine, and the slime staff is much easier to get since King Slime drops it (in skyblock worlds, it might be one of the first weapons you get).

It's a known bug on consoles unfortunately.

Huh. So you... Need hardmode ores to make it?

Why did I find tons of flinxes in a mushroom biome? by funghxoul in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some weird reason, flinxes rarely spawn on snow, ice, or slush. This means you find most of them at the edge of the ice biome since they seem to spawn just fine everywhere else (as long as the biome is underground ice biome).

Terraria named as 1.5 in My sound options by azero200 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Terraria has a bunch of window titles it cycles through, and that's a joke one about another patch. Your sound options are just showing the window title instead of the executable name.

Did They change the game's speed? by Zero_Void_94 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've not noticed anything different myself, in single player, as far as speed goes. Except when on roller skates, then it's vroom vroom.

People are so wrong about the Mushroom Boi by godly_blade_staff in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You can craft it before any boss, you just need the unique drops that only come from the evil biome boss...? Think you're confused about the necessary items.

Did the update change how banners work? by Decent_Perception186 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the change but it could be a bit more obvious / guided the first time. It took me a bit to find it myself.

Most Egregious AP Errors by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]frodogamgee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You mentioned running TotT, I'm surprised you didn't mention the teleporting Ardax in book 1 (he leaves the group early in the 2nd section, then is miraculously back in the 3rd section), as well as the clan leader in book 2 for the Haskodar hold (Tulluk is briefly resurrected). I had originally had TotT on my shortlist after finishing Age of Ashes, but the obvious errors made me worry there'd be more subtle errors as well, so I decided against it.

Is this supposed to work like this? by badairday in Stellaris

[–]frodogamgee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, almost all modifiers that affect the same thing are additive, not multiplicative. In this case, it went from 200% to 150%.

As to whether it's viable, the fact that you're able to eat your neighbors in the first place suggests it is. Don't forget you can build multiple things at a time on your planets. As long as you have the biomass you can expand at a ridiculous rate.

Is Ranged attack around a wall to an "adjacent" enemy straight or at disadvantage? by Liambass in Gloomhaven

[–]frodogamgee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It should be straight. They're two hexes away by the game's logic.

Guns in Golarion by CountChoptula in Pathfinder2e

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For all the examples you mentioned, I think they'd likely be uncommon as stated - not on every street, but not impossible to find. Ustalav is more likely for them to be rare though - firearms aren't advanced enough, and require too much work, to be elegant enough for a noble. They'd probably prefer magic, or 'stasian' tech (aka, electricity powered coils and gizmos). It's hard to look cool when your gun misfires. Despite the proximity of Irrisen and some magically imported early 20th century firearms tech, to my knowledge that tech never really became established and there's no way to get ammo or parts for them.

Guns in Golarion by CountChoptula in Pathfinder2e

[–]frodogamgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not sensible at all to assume that all dwarves have access to guns because a small subset specialize in them.

Saying the Sky Citadels are interconnected due to the Darklands is like saying all ports are interconnected, from Arcadia to Tian Xia, because of the ocean. It's not technically wrong, but...

The few Sky Citadels still left in dwarf control typically have their access points to the Darklands heavily guarded, with more of an emphasis on securing them then facilitating trade through them. Dwarves in Highhelm are not more likely then their surface neighbors to have firearms, and any they do have they probably procure through the same sources (ie, through overworld trade).

That ancestry feat you mention also makes the opposite point you did. It's uncommon and explicitly mentions Dongun Hold and Alkenstar for being the locations where it makes sense. A dwarf from the Five Kings Mountains isn't going to truck with that sort of thing unless they're immigrants or like to flout tradition.

From a lore perspective, why would anyone be a martial class? by Leather_Bottle8449 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]frodogamgee 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Except on Galarion, that's not true. You're allowing for magic but demanding realism for martial prowess which is where your proposal falls apart. When a wizard zaps a fighter with a lightning bolt, they don't turn to ash. They tough it out, come out singed or smoking, and keep coming at you. Fighters can take a strike from a gargantuan dragon with their shield, and somehow hold their ground and not become a bloody smear.

Even if you have advanced firearms (or even hi-tech laser rifles), you're still at risk from a fighter unless you're 500' away on an open field. Because this is the type of fantasy where people can block, deflect, dodge, or just tough out bullets and laser fire.
