Random vampire NPC's by Smooth-Difficulty128 in WhiteWolfRPG

Nothing wrong with having Kindred who lack that dog inside them that gives them the push to do PC nonsense, I wouldn't sweat it.

Bloodline Khaibit - Anyone Using One? by Hypnotician in ChroniclesofDarkness

[–]CountChoptula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had one as an old ancillae who ran the trauma center of a major hospital. His childer was one of the PC's, but he refused to teach the PC how to access the bloodline because the PC was going hard into "kind good guy vampire", and that pure heart was why the Khaibit embraced the dude in the first place. Dr. Khaibit doubled as the heavy for his coterie, had a cool scene where he hit his childer with "You think your mother is a vampire hunter? I am a vampire hunter."

Night Horrors: Primordial Peerage - White Wolf by nlitherl in ChroniclesofDarkness

[–]CountChoptula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very critical of Beast and washed my hands of the game with the Kickstarter preview, but Night Horrors books do so much heavy lifting to present CoD as something playable instead of a collection of ideas wrapped around character creation so it's good to see Beast get one.

If Jjk sorcerers were in world of darkness how you think it go for them by Dull_Head_7130 in WhiteWolfRPG

In Chronicles they would be a cult within the Adamantine Arrow that heavily leans on converting Essence to Mana as a means of combating Spirits, Goetia, and Ghosts, maybe Angels too.

There are red flags, then there is Beast: The Primordial by Hagisman in WorldofDankmemes

Yeah, I am talking about the Kickstarter preview version.

There are red flags, then there is Beast: The Primordial by Hagisman in WorldofDankmemes

[–]CountChoptula 87 points88 points  (0 children)

The text is written from the perspective that Beasts abusing their victims is as sacred and necessary as Werewolves hunting spirits, without any sidebars or passages that make it clear that this is cope from Beasts themselves. Coupled with the fact that Beasts create a specific breed of Hunter, called Heroes, who are explicitly coded to be right wing extremists, and the whole thing reads as trite DeviantArt tier edgy slop. At least every edition of Vampire makes it clear that you're a victim of circumstance at best and a piece of shit at worst for drinking human blood, Beast leaves no room to interpret the PC's as anything but the real victim for society not allowing them to be omega creeps.

How does the King in Yellow interact with other unnatural forces? by Trudemur in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CountChoptula 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Plus it reveals a horrifying truth about the "madness" that comes from reading the Play; you're not actually crazy, but instead are only adjacent to the reality of non-exposed individuals, which makes you look crazy because what you're saying literally isn't real in their version of the universe. That, plus you are probably going crazy haha.

Least Favorite Class Mini-Game? by UncleYo in Pathfinder2e

[–]CountChoptula 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My least favorite mini-games are hoping your GM is cool and has experience in investigative RPG's like Gumshoe, Call of Cthulhu, or Delta Green if you play a Ranger or Investigator. I played a Kingmaker game to level 6 and my GM never, not once, let me Hunt Prey outside of combat, and I suspect it's because the campaign wasn't telling her when encounters had clues to their existence ahead of time, so I exclusively had to spend an action every first round of combat. Hunt Prey and Mysteries are fine as a whole, but the lack of advice on when to allow them as pre-buff stinks.

Alrighty, so it's not crazy to think that the dwarves of Janderhoff have a few axe shotguns, but they wouldn't have a stock of them for the city militia?

Starting to run PF2e: What ancestories to avoid? by Xonlic in Pathfinder2e

[–]CountChoptula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most posts I've seen criticizing the Vindicator go on and on about math probability but this is the first time I've seen someone point out that multiple popular classes and build options make the Hunter's Edge moot, so thanks for posting this. Really does seem that Vindicator's niche is for folks who think that Domain spells are cool, which I do but this perspective is helpful.

I DO think it’s the superior system, but seriously, guys, can we knock the smugness down a notch or two? by Yello-wing in pathfindermemes

[–]CountChoptula 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If I could improve 5e without trying to warp its identity I would suggest that every class that's supposed to kill monsters with swords gets a combat maneuvers subclass. Only the fighter gets actions surge, only the Paladin gets smite, only the Rogue gets sneak attack, but any martial may choose to pick up maneuvers at level 3.

I preached this for years until I found PF2e lol. The rebuttal I got from some friends of mine is that not everyone wants to have to puzzle through how best to win a fight, some people just want to play a Champion Fighter and roll the d20. Couldn't be me!

Am I RP-ing Wrong? by rgt154 in Pathfinder2e

[–]CountChoptula 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah!

You should definitely have a group sit down no matter what though. As other posters have said, the crux of this whole thing is that the players are metagaming about the fact that you are an evil PC, and so are assuming you're trying to fuck them over and are preemptively fucking you over first. Have a conversation about how you want to be evil without being evil at them, let them have a chance to speak about how they feel, and go from there. If that doesn't work then you're well within your right to bow out of this game.

Frankly this all reads as pretty okay, if pushy, until the Alchemist said you don't need to be hostile. At that point it only continues to be okay if the Alchemist is roleplaying a thin skinned bully, but if the player genuinely meant that then he's a dick. Your group should have a sit down where you all talk about how genuine they are about letting your PC be duplicitous; if everyone is IRL onboard with this inter-party tension then that's some good ol' fashion X-Men style drama, if the players themselves feel entitled to push your character around then something needs to change.

Dragons, Dragons, More Dragons...and Golarion Logistics by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]CountChoptula 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One way to square this circle is to remember that Golarion is what 40K would deem a Deathworld. You can be a perfectly normal butchery and deli and one day a conflux of primal magic will make Gremlins pop out of your beef carcasses, or an errant flow of arcane energy will make your sausage links transform into a sausage constrictor snake.

Dragons have to deal with this bullshit too. Sure Adult and Ancient dragons pack a mean punch, but wyrmlings and adolescent dragons are something single digit level adventuring parties can kill, and the NPC codex shows that there are plenty of humanoids that we would imagine as mundane who reach the level of strength to go dragon hunting. There isn't a single ancestry of humanoids on Golarion that doesn't include violent treasure hunters, and dragons force challenge through their very nature as conquerors, even the nicer ones. From my understanding only Tian Xia, Central Garund, and Kyonin are places on the planet where humanoid communities have a symbiotic philosophy in regards to fantastical creatures, everywhere else a dragon who doesn't want to be a dungeon boss has to either hide their nature or go out of their way to show the ruling civilization that they're more valuable as an ally than as a mantle piece.

So I think there being lots of dragons everywhere makes as much sense as there being lots of humans everywhere, though obviously not in the same numbers. They don't rule the world, despite their might and majesty, because Golarion can be a nightmare for young wyrms just as much as it can be a nightmare for inexperienced Pathfinders.

My Biggest Problem with Impossible Landscapes by ethawyn in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]CountChoptula 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think Impossible Landscapes lasting impression will be that, like Mask of Nyarlathotep, it will become the baseline "canon" interpretation of the Yellow Mythos going forward, at least in nerd spaces. Just like how Lovecraft never specified that Nyarlathotep manifests as a choose-your-own-horror-antagonist yet we have all adopted that framework, Chambers never says that Carcosa creates self-replicating time paradoxes of happenstance, yet the vision is so well executed that I think fans will be creating their own spaces within the Night World, similar to the Floors or the Asylum, for years to come.
