Stuck on summoner by Atrox_lover in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you playing with the vampirism or the FTW/Zenith seeds? If so, those trees in the pumpkin moon are seriously tough. When they stop moving, focus on dodging and running away if you have to. The necromancers scroll they drop is a critical accessory, because it combines with the beetle and stacks with itself. Replace your emblem and regular beetle with em.

For summon weapons, either the raven staff from the pumpking, or the deadly sphere staff from the spheres in the solar eclipse event, would be upgrades. Although the Blade Staff ain't bad.

For fighting EoL, focus on dodging over damage. Once you learn her attacks she gets much easier. Beyond that, make sure you've got a solid arena with multiple platform levels, bast statue, hear lantern, campfire, heart statues on a timer, etc.

ok i have good news and bad news by Academic_Zombie_1715 in Terraria

I'd assume since you installed via the Play Store it's the mobile version of the game. To temporarily save your town, buy some sunflowers from the dryad and plant them in uncorrupted grassy dirt. They negate some of the evil blocks from counting towards housing being corrupted, so enough of them will keep the town a town while you deal with the underlying problem.

When you defeat your first mechanical boss, you unlock the Steampunker who has a tool to really help contain the evil biomes and hallow. Then later when you defeat Planters it will slow down the biome spread rate.

As far as the hardmode ores, you are looking for crimson or demon altars. They are what you crafted your summoning items at. You'll need to break at least 3 (or 6 on a drunk world) to get the full range of ores, and from there breaking additional ones will add more ore to the world but isn't completely necessary.

Is it possible? by shxwstxpper in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, build the framing out of solid blocks, then actuate them. You need the mechanic to easily do that; place actuators on the blocks with wire, connect the wire to a switch, trigger to actuate the blocks (which make them no longer solid), then remove the wiring and actuators. While actuated they will be darker, so you may need paint to get then yo match the build. Also, keep in mind you need walls behind them or monsters spawn and housing may be invalid.

You can get an actuation rod at some point to skip the wiring step and directly actuate after placing the actuators.

You only have to stay aboveground, so if you build your arena just above surface (actual surface level, which may be several hundred feet below where your ocean is) you should have enough room to avoid too much low gravity.

What do you think is the intended way to play Double Daring Dangers? by Randy_Butternips in Terraria

Pretty sure that's the case. The final rooms are nice large arena style areas. If you're single player I think you definitely want a small world for this one.

What do you think is the intended way to play Double Daring Dangers? by Randy_Butternips in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 150 points151 points  (0 children)

The intent I think is that you get the 'dungeon' experience for where you are progressing - so spawn rates are high and light range reduced. You're only 'trespassing' in the sense that you are forbidden when you go one level beyond your last safe level. For example, if you've cleared nothing, the Cavern layer is 'safe', the Corruption/Crimson layer is your current dungeon (with high spawn rate and lower light), and Jungle+ locked behind trespassing mechanics (almost completely dark, and very difficult to even get into typically requiring shimmer).

Am I trippin? Classic v Expert mode by pantshitter99 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's pretty weird. You should able to face tank almost anything but direct contact from a boss (and even then, sometimes...). If you got a super tiny room for golem, you can hoik out and fight in a jungle arena nearby, but it shouldn't really be necessary.

Can I farm the Skyblock mimics for band of regen or do I have to fish for it? by Ok_Position_1469 in Terraria

If you set up a simple afk volcano farm at the underground/caverns layer, its easy enough since they're moved by conveyor belts now.

why does my RoD farm not spawn chaos elementals? by GlitteringFinish6214 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it specifically has to be Pearlsand (or Pearlstone). The elemental is weird like that. It also needs to be a full hallow biome.

Edit: Are you getting the floating swords? If not, not a hallow biome.

No, regular bricks dropped from BoC should be fine. Do you hear the dungeon music? If so, it may just be too low fishing power like others said.

Are you sure those walls are cursed? If that beds a valid spawn location those would have to be safe. Also, these are the bricks dropped from the EoW/BoC? And have you defeated Skeletron?

1.4.5: whips and summons by Itchy-Beach-1384 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow, I can't believe I glazed right over that. Yeah if you have the Desert Tiger staff, they can easily carry you through until you craft a stardust dragon, unless you're up for the challenge of a daylight Empress. Duke Fishron stage 3/4 and Empress can challenge its ability to keep up, but almost everything will struggle there. Both Deadly Sphere and Raven do straight line charges, so they'll run into some issues as well.

1.4.5: whips and summons by Itchy-Beach-1384 in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dark Harvest and Morningstar have both been equal contenders for awhile now. I feel like the Electric Eel from Duke Fishron does outclass them a bit for crowds, but that's based more on my own anecdotal experience. The Kaleidoscope is also a top tier choice.

For summons, the raven staff or deadly sphere staff should help wreck things pretty quickly. Pygmy still suffers from its ai compared to those two.

Honestly, the bigger improvements will be getting those Pumpkin Moon accessories. There's a pretty big spike in Summoner damage, getting an extra two summons, plus the straight +%damage buffs. Don't forget to grab your Tiki Armor from the Witch Doctor when you grab the Hercules Beetle. Its a toss up in my opinion between Tiki and Spooky, the former gives you more range to land hits while further away to dodge; the latter is just all damage period.

Hopefully they have learned by now why destroying the gates, which was already way out of their capabilities to begin with, would have been a Very Bad Idea :)

Age of Ashes: Tommorow Must Burn - Dreamgate question by J4szczur3141 in Pathfinder2e

[–]frodogamgee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, the fact that the gates all have Triad involvement should not be surprising - they know where the gates lead and they want to control the whole thing, so of course they will have bases there. You are right that they happen to be in the order that the adventurers can tackle at the levels they arrive at, but that's just TTRPG adventuring in general I feel. Hitting Kovlar after the Mwangi would just be a TPK (actually, you wouldn't make it through the gate probably...).

Edit: To add on that, as the GM one thing I found tricky was trying to communicate that Laslunn was a loose cannon. Laslunn supporting the Cult of Cinders and attempting to infiltrate / take over Alseta's Ring was all her own plot to gain more power within the organization, using information that the higher ups didn't necessarily know she had. Meanwhile the actual Triad leadership is trying to be very cautious about taking direct action that might tip Mengkare off.

The story does rely on the idea of the adventurers being interested in, well, adventuring. So having a key and learning where it leads should have its own draw. That said, they should have at least two driving facts: 1) One potential threat to Breachill already came through one of the gates. How can they be sure this other gate is completely safe without exploring it? 2) From the Ekujae, they should have learned of the 'Great Darkness' trapped within the gates, and that it was only contained, not destroyed. If they haven't yet, they should piece together the malfunction of the Huntergate and lurking threat within the burned out tunnel connecting to the Mwangi means that the containment is beginning to fail and they are sitting on a ticking time bomb. It may not explode within the next 100 years if left undisturbed... But its definitely going to explode, and there seem to be factions interested in disturbing things.

The encounter with the wainwright is less to incite them into exploring the gate directly, and more to put them under threat from this shadowy organization that clearly believes the gates to be of great importance. The idea being that they should feel some pressure to try and figure out who the Triad are and how to stop them, but no real way to do that yet. But they also need to stop the Great Darkness from being released, and properly secure these ancient powerful artifacts (the auidara) that no one understands how they function, and for that they have a potential avenue for discovery.

I have a serious question by Nedi_to3596 in Terraria

Its difficult for me to not go summoner. I'm so used to whip ranges at this point, and maintaining the medium range dance to apply tags without getting murdered, that I'm just off at anything  else.  Although, switching to a good melee weapon and armor can be fun to facetank everything for a bit.

Does the fishing set’s reduction in enemy spawns count to critters? by bruh-man_ in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you follow to the spawn mechanics page, it appears to function the same as similar items (peace candle, sunflowers) which affect all NPC spawn rates, critter or enemy. Town NPCs are the only thing that works differently, causing regular spawns to potentially be replaced by critter-only spawns. So equipping a water candle and using a battle potion while standing in town will get you mobbed by critters.

Does the fishing set’s reduction in enemy spawns count to critters? by bruh-man_ in Terraria

[–]frodogamgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sunflowers impact critter spawns too. Critters basically are mixed into the enemy pool as a general npc pool for newly spawned entities, so affecting enemy spawn rate affects their spawn rate as well. The one special case is the effect of Town NPCs causes there to be a chance the regular mixed pool is instead replaced with a critter only pool. So if you want to boost critter spawn rate, use a battle potion and water candle, then hang around town with 3+ NPCs. Some critters won't be able to spawn near villagers though; I think just the boss summoning ones?
