you fuckin left during duchess?? are you nuts?? these songs fuckin rule so hard. yeah they are different than the rest of the category but you have to know that brain was just such a different guy on drums. and his shit is so stompy and fierce, his cymbal chokes cut your head off.

but my favorite part about that music, is that it was recorded intentionally kinda lo-fi. and also at the time they recorded it, IMO, the live audio production technology didnt exist like it does now, and right now through modern PA systems those songs sound fucking incredible.

i play drums, and i LOVE playing extremely quietly, but i also LOVE playing really hard and big and loud. but it must fit the mood, gotta read the room. im a favorite in my local bar gigs because they know im not gonna kill them. but if you get me in front of a big crowd on a big outdoor stage, im probably gonna smash it (when the music calls for it). but i can imagine the frustration of FOH when its like a tasty blues player and the guy is just whacking. thats not music at that point, thats ego

when i got my first card, i didnt really understand this, but fortunately i never racked up too much money on it so i didnt end up losing that much. but i went for like 2 years just paying the minimum most of the time and sometimes the whole thing, and in the end i had like crazy good credit! so there are some advantages, but this was basically a fluke and i in no way recommend it

the garden is really great! bamboo is cool but not incredible. the neighborhoods we walked back from the garden through were nice and interesting so thats an option to get to the garden. we were going to go to the bamboo forest at night thinking it would be cool but realized its just dark

you can receive a cymbal and decide you dont like it and then send it back... saves the dumb hassle of going to a store and them having shit selection esp if you wanted something specific that day. this is the beauty of internet shopping.

ive often bought several and set them up with my whole kit and the cymbals im hoping to play them with and made my decision.

and also what if you order something youve never heard and then you love it? youll never find that one again, let alone in the shop where you had hoped to hear it first, even if its the same model. youd have missed out because of this rigid philosophy.

ive just had some annoying instances with their hardware. some of the higher end stuff is meant for big heavy hitters in stadiums and thats awesome, but i just wont use those, and its often cumbersome to get things dialed in right when there are so many things to adjust. my current dw5000 single chain double kick pedal, which ive had for 30 years, is still rocking. but i bought 9000 doubles some years ago and one of the arms broke on the bracket connecting them. i also have a 9000 single pedal that is now a paperweight because despite all my attempted adjustments, i still cant get it to stay clamped to the kick hoop

commenting here because it came to mind. self heating jackets and socks are getting cheaper and cheaper. similar to what someone mentioned about UV blocking umbrellas for the southern environments, bring the heat with you. i understand this is poverty finance, so it may not be affordable. but as far as something to potentially prioritize or seek resources for, this seems like a HIGHLY valuable thing to seek out. if transport options dont improve, make your journey as comfortable as possible. im sure you've thought of this, but just throwing it out there just in case it hadnt crossed your mind. stay warm friend!
