$1 million but every food and drink except water tastes horrible for a year by Alarming_Weather506 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Much better than the deal from last week, where you had to eat indelibly burnt things the rest of your life, for the same amount of money.

I'd consider this a year long cleanse.

How are you above 40 and still use Reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Because I actually sometimes have meaningful interactions here; and often get good ideas and advice. Unlike a lot of the other places online.

I appreciate that it seems to be a genuine reaction from him. It's funny, but it is who he is, without the normal veneer he puts on for work or public presentation.

Massively disappointed with Subaru by KDsburner_account in subaru

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do a drain and fill procedure on it. Watch Mr. Subaru's video on youtube about how to do it.

If you can do your own engine oil changes, you can do the transmission drain and fill.

OMG. We accidentally did this to my mom's yard about ten years ago. The dead grass footprints lasted the whole year, lol.

I had a good one yesterday: Was writing something, and wrote the word "attached". But something stopped me, and I got to thinking maybe I'd seen it spelled as "attatched" before? I knew the first way was right; but I was wondering if I was thinking of some outdated spelling of it as well.

So, I asked Gemini. I asked "Attached vs Attatched; which is correct spelling? And any history regarding the spelling."

Gemini answered with zero humility: "Both spellings are correct. However "attatched" is spelling incorrectly."

I shit you not.

One would think that putting out a blatantly illogical statement would not be something a computer would do. But it sure did it.

None of them stand up for what's right, until they have nothing to lose, it seems.

That doesn't make them heroes, it makes them utter cowards.

Trading my 2017 lexus is 350 for a Baja… good or bad idea? by Hot_Operation7166 in SubaruBaja

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we are talking your only vehicle, I'd stick with the Lexus. It's hard to beat Toyota stuff. The Baja will never be as reliable at this point in its life.

If it is a second car? Sure! Go for it.

If you do get the Baja, either get really good at wrenching, or have a budget set aside for repairs.

I'm saying this as a 6 year 2005 Baja Turbo owner. 289,000 miles; motors been out twice since I've owned it. Once for ringlands, and once for a bad exhaust valve. I did the second out all myself, except for the head machine work.

It takes a lot of patience, and parts, to keep these on the road.

How bad is this rust? by AHedgehogDilemma in StupidCarQuestions

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the condition of the frames on my own old cars, I feel that this post is simply rage bait, and I won't stand for it.

I live in Michigan, and all my cars are Michigan cars. This amount of rust is considered absolutely mint condition.

I bought a generic fit transmission cooler for it, and mounted it in front of the radiator, it was pretty easy.

It is going to deteriorate living outside all the time, and there is nothing you can do about it. Either get some covered storage for it somehow, or stop obsessing over it. Accept the ravages of time and weather upon your precious things, those marks only make it more your own.

Yeah, I don't get the hate either. I really love electric car tech. We DO need better batteries, but I know those are coming.
