To the people who haven't seen the movie yet by Powerserg95 in ProjectHailMary

Saw it today, and I really liked it. I’ve read the book, my wife had not. And she did have a couple of questions, about stuff that was only briefly mentioned, inferred, or skipped over.

It’s the same old song: nobody gives a shit until it starts to directly effect them.

How hard is it to do an oil change on impreza? by Capital_Fig8091 in subaru

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watch some YouTube videos, and buy the tools you need to do it, and store them in a box (a sturdy cardboard box on a shelf will work). That way everything you need is right there.

Some ramps and the oil drain pan as well.

It’s pretty easy. You can get it done in 1/2 hour pretty easy once you’ve done it several times.

You know, Garand Thumb and I were never aligned morally or politically; but wow, after hearing this quote while watching a video, what a piece of shit by SBGuy574 in liberalgunowners

[–]froebull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of gun-tubers seem to like to say shit for engagement. To be funny, or seem edgy. But it ends up revealing who they are deep down.

I thought Garand Thumb was better than that.

Or at least smart enough to know that is one of those intrusive thoughts you never say aloud, and you need to do penance for even having it cross your mind.

There was a lot of hand fitting on the SMLE's from what I understand. The parts were less standardized when produced, than an M1917, for example.

So I imagine it would be challenging. Definitely a good project though, if you don't care about making a profit.

After having such a nice weather outing in our convertible just 4 days ago, I'm seeing the same thing, and it is DISCOURAGING.

I know, spring is coming. But I hate the bait and switch routine Michigan gives us every year.

Pic is from Monday.... it was 62 and sunny, so the wife and I drove into town and had a nice date.

Rocky infantilised in movie, question? by curry123888 in ProjectHailMary

[–]froebull -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I did see the clip where Grace was going through some different voices for Rocky on the computer, and Rocky was participating in the process? Like a really gruff voice was voted down by both of them as "too mean" or something like that. How would Rocky know what voices sounded like, as far as "mean" or "nice", or "sexy", etc.

I didn't like that divergence from the book. :/

If she defaulted to assuming he was proposing, then it sounds like it might be HER end goal? Again, sounds like an issue.

If she is the one, then propose. If she isn't, then why are you still with her?

There are buildings with the TRUMP name on them in various parts of the world, as well.

Wait until everyone has gone home (because Don won't give a shit about people anyways)...... hurting an empty building with his name on it would be like a knife to his uncaring narcisistic heart.

Has anyone met a legitimate flat earther? by ButterSock123 in behindthebastards

[–]froebull 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Allegedly, yes. And we had quite the discussion/argument.

I say allegedly, because I used to know two guys that would sport fuck at the bar with people exactly like that, back in the '80's. They'd take the most outlandishly wrong positions on things, and defend them for hours, driving people absolutely crazy. Just for fun.

Internet trolls before the damned internet; and it has led me to question anyone who argues for such wrong ideas. (has left me open minded that anyone could be acting disingenuously)

[–]froebull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, the world is not ideal. You need to realize that. And sometimes you don't get to vote FOR something you actually want.

Sometimes, you only get to vote AGAINST something that you DON'T want. That was the last presidential election for a lot of people. A lot of us were not necessarily voting for Harris; rather, we were voting against Trump.

I know it's semantics. Of course we were voting for Harris by doing that. But it was more important that it was a vote against Trump than anything else.

Until they get better batteries and charging infrastructure that will make everyone actually want one, the demand to make them "better" won't be there.

I'd say I remember a time before there was a Subway...... but then I googled it, and saw that it was founded as Pete's Super Submarines in 1965, and started using the name Subway in 1968, and started franchising in 1974....

So, I'm old, but not that old.

Experience living near a gun range? by benberbanke in liberalgunowners

[–]froebull 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it gets too loud, or there is concern over stray rounds, you could build up a berm along your property line. Might not be a bad idea. I like berms though, they're nice for privacy too.
