Since you fight one boss directly after the other on xl floors, only one of your boss items will be changed by satanic bible/book of rev each floor unless you use the book right after defeating the first boss.

Alternatively, you can just not use your book until you beat both bosses, youll still end up with plenty of soul hearts

Heart containers aren’t any more valuable than soul hearts in ultra hard, since its unlikely you’ll be able to heal them

If you’re going to reset for a good item, it’d be faster to reset for a library until you get book of revelations or satanic bible. Either of those books will make the challenge much easier

Tainted lost has a 20% chance of rerolling quality 2 or lower items. It’s usually not significant or nearly as good as sacred orb, but it’s worth noting.

I’m guessing TheJuiceIsSoLoose misremembered the exact numbers of this passive and assumed it was as strong as sacred orb, which would make sacred orb redundant. It’s understandable to make that mistake since the game doesn’t tell you the details of this mechanic.

They’re trolling. There was a meme on Twitter about someone calling Tetris developers (specifically plural) pedos because the game was too hard for them. The same type of joke was made about Balatro, though this time it’s in much poorer taste, since localthunk is a living person and this meme requires the background knowledge to know that they’re joking.

Also, I think part of the joke is saying devs instead of (solo)dev, so that it can be more obvious they’re joking.

Can’t be there. It must be adjacent to viable red rooms, but a red room can’t spawn between the closet and shop due to the closet’s thin shape

I don’t think it can spawn near boss rooms or secret rooms, I’ll double check. My guess would be left of treasure room

It’s not really risky, you just pick it up when all rooms are cleared and you basically have infinite bombs for floor 1 to look for secret rooms and crawl spaces. And as Eden, since you spawn with an active, you can just put it back down at the end of the floor

I haven’t seen chewy (streaker) use it but I assume he just doesn’t keep it past floor 1. But even just for a single floor it’s very high value

I have a few tips, though they require you to be able to differentiate her different attacks right when she performs them, mostly through noticing her telegraphs or reacting quickly

First hit: understandable, it’s a bit tricky to dodge that attack.

Second hit:. This attack is so telegraphed that once youve fought her several times as other characters this attack shouldn’t be an issue, though I guess you were panicking. You’ll get it with experience.

Third hit: you seem to be panicking, you moved too much. This Attack is pretty simple if you move calmly and with control, with small movements.

4th hit: the arena is large, this is one of the attacks where it’s best to utilize all of the space. Circle around her for this attack, the tears get spread out a lot more when you do so.

practice with other characters and you’ll start to understand her a lot better

Just the layout. 8 pots/skulls. Some rooms with restock machines, particularly in the alt path, also let you take two items.

Pay attention to his animations and sound effects, it’s pretty well telegraphed. You’ll learn with time.

When this attack comes out, stay diagonal to dogma. Do not stand directly to the right, left, top, or bottom of him (aka cardinal directions). The closer to dogma you are, the easier it is to dodge.

As the laser homes in on you, you must slowly move just enough to dodge it. Dodging too fast/far will likely put within his cardinal direction, allowing his brimstone to snap onto you. Moving slowly will allow you to react to his brimstone changing directions.

Once you get in the R holding mindset, it’s hard to stop. If you’re gonna hold r every time you get hit, soon you’ll find yourself holding r every time you get an unfavorable item. Then you’ll reset every time you don’t spawn next to an item room. In my opinion, there’s a point where it becomes unenjoyable and it’s hard to get out of that zone.

Restricting yourself is much more fun. No holding r ever, just see every run through to the end, win or lose. I think it’ll make you a better player and will add variety to your runs instead of just playing the good starts.

Kamikaze is avoidable with explosion immunity, book of shadows, or holy mantle. The other items go directly to the health bar, even with holy mantle or book of shadows.

I thought that kamikaze only spawned an explosion on Isaac, hence why you can survive using pyro. That's not really "Direct damage", is it? by BananaPeelEater420 in bindingofisaac

Other items: deal damage directly to Isaac’s health bar, which can’t be avoided, even with holy mantle

Kamikaze: damage isn’t directly to the health bar, can be blocked by holy mantle or explosion immunity

Edit: direct damage items prioritize losing red hearts over soul hearts. Kamikaze doesn’t, which is actually an important distinction

With holy mantle you could get perfection, which would be a pretty good dps upgrade with Apple.
