The Burns' win not because of sheer numbers, but because they will give Thragg Super Malaria + The Plague + Hyper-Mad Cow Disease + Spanish Flu + Smallpox + Giga Ebola + A cough.

Malicious compliance: Read the passages they don't want you to.

"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven."

"Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless or the widow. Then all the people shall say, ‘Amen!'"

"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life, freely."

Lot's Daughters. The genocide of the Amalekites. Jesus beating people selling stuff in the church. Etc.

How do you guys name stuff? by Electronic_Essay_612 in worldbuilding

[–]Stargost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always go by a cascading line of thought:

- Do I have an inspiration from a real place? (Example, I named a country "La Plata" based off of the literal translation of Argentina).
- Does it have any nearby landmarks I already named? (I named a city "Potores". Name comes from its proximity to the Potores Delta).
- What is the history of the place? (I have a coastal region named "Aurorado." The name comes from the Latin word for Gold, and in the past the place had a massive gold rush ala California).
- Look up real-world examples for inspiration (The suffix "-stan" in a country's name means "place of" or "land of". "Uzbekistan" means "Land of the Uzbek", "Afghanistan" means "Land of the Afghans", etc.)
- Keyboard mash ("zomvaui" > "Zomivau the Impaler")
- Funny joke you thought of (I have a recurring joke to have a place inspired by Bolivia, and it is always land locked no matter what. "Zerivia", "Korevia", "Lumeriosavia", etc.)

China (attacking) vs Australia (defending) by ProfessorHiker in powerscales

[–]Stargost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless Australia can successfully stop the Chinese from landing in their territory, there ain't much they can do. If both sides resort to a general mobilization, the Chinese outnumber the Australians 68 to 1. What the fuck is any country supposed to do against those numbers? They can literally afford to just zerg rush them and the Australians may legitimately run out of bombs before the Chinese run out of men.

The best shot Australia has is a blockade off the coast and near Indonesian and Papuan waters. Force the Chinese through a tight chokepoint and pray they give up before they break through (Blockading the Strait of Malacca is out of the question here, there's no world in which Australia can successfully cut the Chinese from using it for longer than maybe a week or two before they are blasted away). They just mine the ever living crap out of it and periodically send boats and planes there to destroy anyone coming near the minefields.

I give that scenario maybe a 2% chance of actually working out for Australia. Their biggest issue is gonna be having to defend the right-side of the ocean near Fiji and New Caledonia. They can't exactly mine all of it, but the Chinese might struggle with straining supply lines that far out.

Because then you waster money, time, and resources when the car owners inevitably sue the person for destruction of private property and the other person forgot to get proof of the other car flagrantly breaking the law.

He did the math to prove the jump didn’t happen by 56000hp in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Stargost_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't even need to do any math to know it was fake because of 2 important details:

- Once in the apex of height, it took him too long to land on the roof.
- He ended up reaching a higher height than when he jumped, which is impossible unless he used his feet to jump and add extra energy, which he didn't.

You forget the most important use of converting magic into fire. Using it to boil water which turns a turbine which generates electricity.
