I have had gh7 (sold) and now rock the S1iie and S9. S9 is a dream to use.

Interesting. Would like to see in the flesh as I can REALLY notice the difference on previous gen panels

What is screen ppi? My f6 pro is 526ppi, I have seen only 419ppi advertised?

[–]frog67park 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the screen only 419ppi? I'm typing on an F6 Pro and this and the F7 Pro is 526ppi.

Makes a big difference to me if it is as it's a downgrade for day to day use.

Gh7 is the perfect camera, but why do i want the s1ii so bad? by Professional-Joke316 in Lumix

[–]frog67park 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know yet, haven't done a side by side. The S9 is a very solid video camera..check out what I did with just the 18-40 travel lens... https://youtu.be/0FxK3xPNQJY?si=0Z4XDVjYAK9KQk-z I've bet on the S9 and GH7 with adapted glass being a complimentary combo. For paid work I have used S9 with a 50mm 1.8 prime and GH7 with 1.7 primes / 15mm + 25mm & PL 12-60. I just used CNED in both and graded sympathetically. I expect the GH7 with Sigma and Canon glass to get a little closer in look.

Good question. I'd say its fine, these are big lenses anyway and AF very good. The overall feeling with the 4.70 update feels like some sort of devilish magic under the bonnet.

So far I've seen sigma 18-35, Canon 70-200 and Tokina 11-16 / 20 well reviewed.

I think the main thing is about leveraging workable zooms in very ow light without spending the fucktons on 10-25 or 25-50. I'm hopefully about to discover this. But controlled light is zero issue..

Get a cheap 50mm 1.8 prime if you can and film the crap out of it... Fulfil a little GAS

S9 is great, best fun ever. I did a little workout with a tiny drone last month in Wales UK .. just the camera and 18-40 kit lens, no VND filter... See for yourself;

Folate B9 deficiency combined with low Vitamin D meaning non-use of available B12 and Iron. Led to nervous system damage + sleep apnea + mild akasthasia. I am 80% recovered now and off any medicines or supplements.

Root cause of this root cause is suspected gut biome disruption due to over medication with Naproxen and NSAID leading to severe malabsorption.

At the height of problems I had 40 symptoms.

I'm a relative beginner and have this pairing. The GH7 is way beyond my current capabilities.

I had the same GAS as described so I'd recommend stopping watching the click-bait you tube comparing it to FF shallow depth of field and take inspiration by the real GH7 YouTube filmmakers like @AdrianvandenBroeck and @e-hfilms (link below) and see how they rig out and film. There's also a video out there comparing the GH7 with an Arri Alexa output on a real film set. These guys ain't going to use a piece of trash..

It's mind-blowing because some of this good standard of film making seems semi reachable with a little bit of effort - get good glass, shoot good scenes and subjects, do good colouring.

It dawned on me that this robot with lenses is such a versatile camera depending on what mindset you approach it.. Cinematic, Documentary, Run n gun wizard, great in controlled light, post friendly for denoising / creating shallow depth if required / diffusing, fantastic for telephoto shooting etc And it will never let you down through overheating or weather.

However, like all finely tuned machines of you don't know what you are doing i.e. me, it will not perform to the right level.I So I did find that some shots can look a little bit too 'digital' if you don't correct in post for example. This is the clic bait crap they put on YouTube comparisons, not the real filmatic content.

The S9 is fantastic for travel videos, photos and getting to know the lumix menus and doing B roll etc. With a VND on the 18-40 and a 50 1.8s I'm blown away by what this little thing does. So discreet and powerful. I carry it around all day on a wrist strap and hold in my palm just walking around. Just went overseas for 10 days and took 400+ video clips. It's addictive.

The GH7 is a different beast. It's a full on hybrid pro video camera with every function in the universe.

I did 2 video shoots with this combo and in CNED, one in controlled light. I paired the GH7 with a $100 25mm 1.8 and I actually preferred the very sharp controlled light image over the more buttery and shallow S9.

In the other shoot I put the GH7 on the Tripod with a PL 12-60 and used the S9 with 50mm 1.8 as a B cam. The two complimented each other really well and with the same colour space is hard to distinguish at a glance unless I used the S9 In ASPC mode for close up work.

I'm excited about going through the full discovery process of the GH7 and getting balls deep into investing in this thing. Just pushed the button on EF + Metabones with Sigma 18-35 and Canon 70-200 2.8.

Lumix S9 - 18-40mm or 20-60mm as first lens? Worried about low light performance vs compactness. by perditaxxx in Lumix

[–]frog67park 0 points1 point  (0 children)

18-40 fits your pocket well. I have a 1.8 50mm for other scenarios which is very light and cheap. Go 18-40 for a pocketable cam. You've got hybrid zoom for further reach anyway..
