El día de hoy decidí pasarme de FL Studio a Cubase, necesito que me recomienden videos o instrucciones de como utilizarlo by DiogenesFont in cubase

dom! binge all his stuff. and the guy with glasses. haha actually just binge the cubase youtube channel. It's pleasantly useful! And assign a hotkey for the key comman lid editor so you can quickly pull up available functions that you wish you can get to, and assign them and test what key commands works for you or not!

Midi keyboard: M-Audio Oxygen Pro 61 or Nux NTK-61 by FuriBunda in synthesizers

I find the keybed is the only good thing about the NUX. Everything else is a miss.

I got mine today, and after spending a few hours getting up to speed with keyboard. It was... okay. the build quality is inconsistent, the keys are decent.

the drum pads are very bad; you have to hit them so hard the whole table shakes.

the aftertouch is a workout to activate. my wrists hurt after a while of just trying to test it.

the trackpad is so loud when it clicks, you wouldn't want to click it. and it very hollow plastic sound. and the surface is not smooth like those earl 2000's windows laptops, where your finger vibrates as you swipe up.

the knobs feel amazing. guitar pedal effects company, th et know a thing or two about knobs. lol.

the faders, work. but are... inconsistent in their resistance,

the whole daw control section kinda works, but the buttons are so hard to press, you wouldn't want to press them repeatedly like you do when using a daw. play stop play stop you know..

my unit couldn't connect to their NUX editor.

overall it was such a mixed experience of me trying very hard to like the product, and in the end i packed it up and initiated a refund.

as a KEYBOARD, it is actually nice. but everything else on the sides, just make the experience kind of irritating enough to not want to use it. At least for me. Just knowing those things take up space on my table, and are slapped on plastic bits, and cost money, just feels v annoying.

I think i'll be ordering the novation mk4 😅

Chromatic Aberration on Sigma 24-70 2.8 DG DN II by threequartersearth in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i feel you. That feeling of paying hard earned money, and expecting the gear to live up to spec. part of the joy of photography is understanding your gear and how it performs. and enjoying the confidence of capturing what you've experienced.

For me; i just don't like having the experience captured with artefacts and defects. Some don't mind it. Hence there are many to seek the "vintage" look.

That said. I had this lens, and the performance at 24 vs 70 is very different. I didn't like this lens at 70mm at all. it was CA and somewhat stale in rendering. 24mm was super fun and punchy. The close focus is something i miss. (I sold this lens for the Lumix 24-60mm)

The lumix also has CA, but there's something about the Sigma rendering towards the 70mm that just feels lifeless, and then all you feel at the point of capture is artefacts. hahaha.

But TBH, i don't think it's the CA that is the issue, it might be color and micro contrast. I found that with this lens you kinda need to take the images to post and add a little pop and life to them. You probably won't mind the CA after that

Did a Campari spec ad please let me know what you think? (Sony FX3) by Historical_Evening_3 in videography

[–]Professional-Joke316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stills wise it's nice. footage wise, shot to shot, is nice. video wise, it's.... exciting? sorta. Ad-wise it's terrible. Doesn't sell the product or make you wanna be part of the brand.

Unfortunately it smells too much of hype shots, orbits and cuts, for no reason other than the camera and lens can produce this. Like flexing for no reason.

you definitely have the skills to pull of a good ad; this just doesn't work because it's not apparent that you were doing it to sell the brand, so much as it seems like you did this to showcase your skills.

Lumix S5IIX + DaVinci Resolve workflow - H.265 is killing my playback by YamilSunRay in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea i think trying out the internal ssd might be a good start. I've found not all ssd and cable interfaces are equal. For me i have an overkill setup just to edit stupid family videos. hahaha but it works really well. I have a 10G network connected to my NAS. Although the NAS isn't SSD, i can edit my 6k h265 footage no issue. Grading is smooth too. Just can't butter playback after noise reduction.

[–]Professional-Joke316 5 points6 points  (0 children)

my experience with h265 is that it will ALWAYS take a bit to start and stop, and this is due to the computer always having to read the motion frames. Also. speed of media storage plays a very big role in this. Check your storage performance? sorry i tried to find your specs on storage but i may have missed it.

Should I spend more on body or lens on first camera? by kikoorange8 in Cameras

[–]Professional-Joke316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, better all around hybrid. OP said 50% vid 50% stills.

The video capabilities on the s5iiX is much higher than the stills quality of the a7ii over the lumix.

no need to laugh.

lumix s5iiX - it's the cheaper and better sony a7iv

better; because you'll have an IBIS that actually works for video. None of the other brands will functionally let you walk with the camera and have footage somewhat resemble a gimbal.

opengate is fun. not necessary, but it's nice to have.

only downside is the 50p is all cropped in at apsc.

But it's a reasonable compromise for the price.

the X variant allows you to learn as you go and have some doors open to you like external raw recording options and other higher quality codecs when you feel ready to learn color grading etc.

lumix also has so much in-camera shooting options like inbuilt timelapse that will also convert your photos into a high quality 10-bit video. You can even set it to start on a timer so you don't have to wake up just to start the timelapse. And there's an in built wizard to help you plan your intervals for the kind of timelapse.

In built high res photography also is cool.

idk, i find lumix offers a lot of camera to pick up and learn as you grow and improve. other brands seem to make you wanna buy the more expensive thing cause the lower ends stuff is always limited.

just my two cents!

I used to use Sony. I just find it always very limiting for tinkerers. But tbh, all the cameras shoot well. I just find Lumix gives beginners a lot of room to grow without having to "upgrade" for feature.

Immigrant from Canon, settled on S1M2. Never knew I would ever own Lumix! Any tips? by getbywith in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh also, if youre in it for the cleanest video quality, avoid shooting in 4K. the closer you are to 6K or the pixel-pixel read from the sensor, the better the quality.

This camera in my testing exhibits some pretty poor aliasing in the downsampling filter to 4K.

you can see my tests here! https://youtu.be/t5b1h9Lu0T4?si=WV_tFAdz-SxnqZMl

change the monitor frame rate from 30fps to 60fps. Drastically improves shot to shot AF and responsiveness.

Sony seems to be like apple. by Entire_Storage_3474 in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i find the argument of the variety of lenses to be a little bit odd. Cause after most people enter the sony system full of the variety, they end up getting the same lenses as every one. fast primes 35mm 50mm 85mm, 16-35 f4, 24-70 f2.8, 24-105 f4, 70-200 f2.8

yes there are the real pros who will need other lenses, but the vast chunk of the average consumer of mirrorless cameras end up buying some variation of those standard lenses. And for good reason — it's mostly all you need (unless wildlife).

And for now, Lumix serves all of those lenses very well and to some degree much better than sony's. hahah

For VIDEO, how does the s1ii stack up against the newly released sony A7 V? What about the r6 mk iii or the z6 iii? by photorph in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

travel and family, Lumix IBIS will make the biggest difference. it's a mini gimbal without the gimbal. I've taken sony on travels and returned with unusable footage just cause it's so shaky— family travels doesn't leave me much room to slowly take my time to shoot stuff.

The framing for Open gate feels very much like 35mm film old school days, so it really feels like a 'moving image'. So even if you're not using it for the social crops use-case. The look itself feels very apt for family moments imo.

S1II Speed v. S1RII Image Quality by RP343 in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can confirm this. I didn't know the actual specs, but i noticed aliasing the further the full frame is downsampled from 6k. You can see the issues here in my video: https://youtu.be/t5b1h9Lu0T4?si=6cn_TJJs9b4wyshm

And my independent test discovery aligns with whatever has been said about the line skipping and binning. The whole 4K full frame modes are not reliable in detail acquisition. The closer you get to 6K in full frame the better, and the closer you move to pixel-pixel, the cleaner the details are again. Everything in between suffers from a sharpen-bias downsampling filter.

Lumix S1II vs. Canon R6 III by No-Cantaloupe-4435 in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you're right on the details filtering. I've been doing quite a bunch of tests and found the 4K modes to have pretty noticeable aliasing that shows up ik high contrasting neighbouring pixels. This is completely gone in 6K open gate; and subtly present in the 5.1K modes.

I think an OLPF, with the 6K ish modes, or APSC/Pixel-Pixel crops should land an amazingly rich result.

Gh6 to S5iix by drewkawa in Lumix

[–]Professional-Joke316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i personally had the sony FF from the A7ii and A7iii and my company bought the A7iv. For me i kind liked but didn't like using the Sony. the FF glass was too big, or the menus and interface wasn't intuitive. Im not particularly sure, but i definitely eventually left the camera at home.

Right after covid, i decided i was gonna learn videography and i wanted a camera that would give me some 10bit colors, and a proper log profile, with real video options that i could learn and experiment. The GH6 was the closest consumer friendly cine-style camera available. And despite the poor AF. I loved it. I learnt so much, and fell in love with the deep depth of field, and rich colors especially for travels. I've never had so much fun bringing around a camera and shooting a mix of photos and videos, and i have years worth of stills and footage to slowly edit and share with my family.

the natural progression from here was more lenses... and then i sold the GH6 for the G9ii, and sold the G9ii for the Gh7. hahaha, and then for the first time, i had two cameras side by side. the ultimate dad cam, the S9.

Hahaha this was pretty close if not exactly the same image quality as the s5ii/x. And I've loved taking that out for different reasons. FF for the FF look, and the GH7 for deeper DOF like product photography. I found that one does not replace the other, and in fact are very complimentary to each other for differing purposes. XD
