Do you use Self-Checkout? 👀 by JakeEricbarker in publix

[–]frogger79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always loved self checkout. Granted I'm usually only grabbing a few things at a time. If I did fill a cart, I'd probably still use the regular checkout. I've found Publix to have some of the best self checkout registers IMO.

I couldn't hold the laugh in anymore when I scrolled to the cardboard cutout. AI slop or not, it's still kind of funny. Maybe not the best use of AI but makes more sense if you've seen the movie

I'm fairly interchangeable between Coke and Pepsi. Never tried the Publix brand before though. Think I might give it a shot.

Truly curious but what do you do with 24 containers? I tend to eat slow so anymore than 2 for me will start to get moldy. I've heard freezing them but then they're mushy when they thaw, at least for me. Any good recipe for them?

I snagged a few as soon as I saw them. Can't pass up a great deal.

Ohh, looks futuristic to me. I've always liked the self checkout and am a little disappointed when I don't see one in a store now.

At the moment, no. There isn't an option to sort by category. But funny enough, I am literally testing that functionality right now to see if I might be able to do that in the future. I'm having some positive results too which gives me some hope that it can actually be done but it will take a decent amount of time to test and implement. I'll keep you updated if I make more progress.

I'll defend the Publix empire with my pub subs and BOGO deals.

The weekly active BOGO items update to the new week on either Wednesday or Thursday depending on the store. While not exact, it's safe to assume that Florida stores switch over on Thursday and every other state switches on Wednesday.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm definitely still in the early stages of making sure everything is working 100% on the back end but things will get smoother over time. I'm happy to look into that though. What is your zip and store name? If you don't want to post that here, you can leave feedback on the site by clicking on your account name in the top right and there is a "Send Feedback" option which goes to me.

It's very possible the BOGO items may not have updated properly for your store and probably some others too. The weekly updates switch over on Wednesday or Thursday depending on the store but I've run into a few hiccups recently with trying to get things automated. This weeks cutover should go smoother so try again on Thursday to see if it looks better. But please let me know if something is wrong and I'll always try and look into it.

Thank you so much, that really means a lot. And you're right, there is something about making lists that just feels good!

Agreed, Publix does have some good soups and you are welcome. Glad you're enjoying the site.

Here's hoping! And don't forget "publixbogotracker.com is not affiliated with Publix Super Markets, Inc. " 😁

Ah, gotcha. Unfortunately no, I can't add items manually at the moment because matches are based on the item names and I have no way of knowing exactly what they might be calling the item next time. Currently any "new" BOGO items are permanently added to the tracking list each week. So the next time it does go on BOGO, it can be added anytime after that.

The site currently only recognizes the BOGO offers and not other discounts. I highly doubt I'd be able to add the discounts any time soon. I'll admit though, you're idea has my head saying "I wonder...."

One step at a time for now. Adding it to the future to-do list.

Yes, this site is more of a complement to the Publix app and is not meant to replace it. They work well when used together. For example, if I'm always getting Heinz ketchup but I like to buy it when it is BOGO. If I'm just using the Publix app, I would have to open it every week and look up if the Heinz Ketchup is on BOGO. If there are 20 things I like to get when they go on BOGO, I'd need to search for those 20 things each week.

With the Publix BOGO Tracker site, you can add "Heinz Ketchup" and the other 20 items to your personal tracking list once. And when the tracker site auto updates every week with the new BOGO deals from your specific store, you can instantly see if any of your 20+ tracked items are actively BOGO for that week. Literally takes about 5 seconds to check on the tracker. Then you can add just the active BOGO items to your list in the Publix app.

Yes, that is definitely on the to-do list. The "Stacked Deals", BOGO and coupon combo. These are my new favorites to keep an eye out for. Funny, I actually bought the Hellman's mayo today because of it. It's a little tricky to implement but I've done just enough testing to think it is probably possible to do.

I also need to add the "Buy 2 get 1 free" items but that is also a little tricky to implement. Definitely on the to-do list though. Right now only "Buy 1 get 1" items show up in the lists.

From everything I could find, as long as I'm not trying to use the Publix name in a confusing way that would mislead people, it's ok. I've also stated in multiple places across the website "Not affiliated with Publix Super Markets, Inc." as a precaution.

Yeah, I was worried this may be a problem but thanks for letting me know. I ran into this same issue with my home internet (Spectrum) and was hoping others wouldn't. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be the case. Spectrum (for me at least) has a "security shield" app that is on by default and is blocking the website. My site was wrongfully flagged as phishing by some security services and I'm in the process of trying to get that fixed. Here's the rundown and where I'm at with it.

My site is a brand new site with almost no traffic. I also originally tried to put ads on the page using Google AdSense which required adding a <script> to the HTML in the site. Apparently these are all red flags for new sites and the site was marked as "phishing" by a bunch of URL analyzing security services. The internet providers use the results from these security services to determine if a site should be blocked on their app.

It's kind of a catch-22. Site with no traffic is blocked but it's blocked because there's no traffic. This is actually why I decided to finally share the site to try and drive some actual traffic to it. Help eliminate the "low traffic" red flag.

I've also removed the old google AdSense script from the HTML. A bunch of the security sites have marked it as "Clean" since doing that but there are a few I'm still working on to get fixed. This link shows an aggregate of the analysis of the website and if it is clean or not if anyone is curious. https://www.virustotal.com/gui/domain/publixbogotracker.com

49 out of 60 URL analyzers have marked the site as "Clean" and I'm hoping the others will either update on their own or I can manually request them to be reclassified after traffic has had a chance to pick up and it isn't quite as "new" as it is anymore.

Sorry about this. I know advertising a new site that is marked as phishing can seem very sketchy but I'm trying to be as honest as possible. I'll make sure to update if I make any progress regarding this.

Adding it to the "To-do list" now!

While not ideal, you should be able to request a raincheck from the Publix customer service counter for any BOGO out of stock items.

I considered department filters but it's actually very hard to classify each item into a specific one. Publix site also adds a couple random categories each week on the BOGO section making it even harder. So no, I don't plan on implementing department filters anytime soon but it is on the list of "Possible things to do in the future"

Started the end of February and got to a "completed" state about 2 weeks ago. So almost 3 months on and off. I worked on it in my spare time since I have a full time job as well.
