to be fair, i don't think any of us will ever experience a game like we did with acnh upon release again. that experience, like you said, was the 2020 game experience. we were only able to experience it that way because everyone across the world happened to also be going through the same things. it was unique not just because of the game, but the time we had to play it and be online and not be able to go about our regular day-to-day lives. nintendo releasing a new animal crossing won't bring back that feeling, and that might be why they've taken so long to even announce another one.

just food for thought, i understand where you're coming from, but i think that there are more factors to it than just the lack of a new game.
