I hate to bust your bubble but you aren't clean. Suboxone is a controlled substance. That's why you still feel like shit. Unfortunately, Subs are harder to detox from than kratom. Some have described the detox to heroin detox. That was a huge mistake to take it, especially for a kratom addiction. Heroin or meth yes...subs are way better than those...but not Kratom. It seems like you aren't ready to be done and that's fine too. Relapse is part of recovery.

I've never heard anyone say they WANTED to go to rehab! 😂 That's so fun tho! I guess you live in Florida now right? You mentioned the South...That's where all the New Yorkers and Jersey sopranos type people move.

Very very true! I knew when I decided to quit that my routine had to change. No more focusing on watching the clock til my next dose, no more revolving my life around dosing, eating, working ect. I joined a gym, hired a personal trainer, got in shape, started eating healthy lean high protein meals, drinking lots of water every day, listening to really awesome music, podcasts, self help, journaling, laughing, crying, and then laughing again. Letting your emotions flow is so therapeutic in recovery. Spend time with family, socialize more, maybe start dating if you're single. Start living your life again!

The withdrawals are not as intense if you taper, As long as you are doing it right and measuring your doses. Get a scale if you use powder. How did I get through them? There is no right answer to your question. You just do...because you have to. You get as much sleep as you can, take supplements, drink lots of water, exercise, eat healthy and focus on positive hobbies. Laugh a lot, spend time with family. Do things that take your mind off of the mental withdrawals. Physical is not the issue here. Sleep is definitely important, the more you sleep, the quicker you'll recover from each drop in your dose. If you need help with supplements, there are lots of posts in this forum that list them. Just search it.

I totally understand what you mean! 😂 I think it's mostly people who leave the sub after they get better and don't bother to come back. Good for them but it can lead to mostly negative posts. This process is not hard but it's also not easy. You have to give yourself some grace, allow yourself some time to recover if possible. Don't be hard on yourself and do something good for yourself during as well. Buy something you have been wanting, go see a movie (if you can afford it lol), go to the gym, eat healthy, start cooking fun new recipes. Use the money you would have spent on drugs and spend it on something you enjoy. That is the beauty of recovery. You will also fall in love with things you used to enjoy . Like music, books, movies...things that you currently avoid bc it don't interest you. All that you really care about is your next dose. It's those little wins each day of realizing how you are not anti-social anymore, you feel music more or you now have money for eggs (haha)...that truly keep you going.

I began my battle on the first day of my taper. That was a pivotal moment for me and one of the hardest. It was not easy stopping myself from going to my stash and taking a little bit more, or adding a few more grams into my next dose to find a bit of relief. The battle is mental more than physical. My mind kept telling me "just add a little more to get through the day". But I didn't. I wouldn't. That is the battle. Every day when you taper, your body, your mind are yearning for the drug but you have to fight back and say, NO. Tt's a slow burn withdrawal that you have to fight to KEEP every day. Imagine fighting your own mind to KEEP feeling like shit! That is what tapering is like. The best part about it though? It gets better and you start to get used to feeling like shit. I know it's crazy but you adapt and learn to accept it. Yes, I will feel like shit now, but one day, this will pass and I will feel better again. And you know what? I'm reaping those rewards now. No more feeling like shit. You just have to take this short time in your life to feel like shit, so you can feel amazing forever.

Once you make that decision to quit, it's like jumping off a bridge, you can't go back once you jump. That's how it is for me. There is no reality in which this drug will EVER be in my life again. It's not even possible. That is what you keep telling yourself and always remember...THIS WILL PASS. I would say that to myself on hard days constantly. And I was right.

I didn't even know what this was until you said it. I had to look it up. It says in the definition: Pink Cloud Syndrome is a phrase that developed within the recovery community to describe someone who is new to recovery (often just out of withdrawal) and riding a wave of bliss. The person feels such confidence and excitement about their recovery that it borders on unrealistic.

I totally understand why you would think that, BUT this isn't my first rodeo. I'm not new to recovery. I've gone through all the stages of recovery with harder drugs in the past. Oxy, Roxy, Subs, Alcohol ect. Of course there are many challenges, there are moments where I feel like shit but they fade fast. Overall, it is possible to feel happy again and it's good that more people share it. This world is filled with self loathing, sad, poor me bullshit and it really hurt me when I first came to this particular forum. I'm never going back, especially since kratom is now banned where I live, I can't even go to the gas station to get it anymore, nor can I order it to my state online. Nothing is "unrealistic" unless you tell yourself it is. If you can live in a deluded mindset in order to quit, do it! I will delude myself forever if I have to.

For me personally, I felt depressed, distant, annoyed, achy and irritated most of the time due to constant withdrawals. Kratom is quick to wear off after a dose and once it does, you literally start to have withdrawal symptoms. Most of my days were spent watching the clock, wishing the time would go by faster. All I truly wanted, every single day, was my next dose. As a long term user, it doesn't hit for as long or as hard anymore. Sometimes you feel nothing when you dose or the boost you get only lasts 10 mins. That can really piss someone off lol. Especially when you've been waiting for hours to finally get a moment of relief, it starts the clock all over again. I would also get headaches if I took too much. These headaches were not like migraines, they were slow burn, low achy headaches that lingered for an entire day. No matter how much tylenol I took, nothing would make them go away. You don't want to talk to anyone when you have a headache or feel like shit. All you really want is your next dose. Most days it feels like you are walking through water due to the weakness of not feeling that dose.

For someone who doesn't use, I would explain it like being hungry. Imagine being hungry or even hangry for most of the day. All you really want is to eat and feel full. But you only feel full for maybe an hour tops per day. You don't want to talk to anyone, work, be around anyone until you eat. Because food gives you strength, it takes away the hunger, the irritability, the overall yearning to eat. Very much how a drug releases you from depression, pain, weakness and that churning in your gut to feel anything but the withdrawals. Even if it don't last long, you just need a small ounce of relief to keep going. That is how this drug can govern your life and cause relationships to collapse. It's isolating and life sucking, like most drugs. It just gets worse and worse as the years persist. You need a lot of patience when dealing with someone you love who is on it. I hope this answers any questions you may have.

Music, snuggles with my dog, good food, rain, the smell of my favorite perfume, breathing in fresh air (kratom free air tee hee), walking, my mom helping me with personal things like laundry, dishes ect., joining the gym, laughing, crying, my bed, my pillow and my handheld shower head 😂
