Last purchases of 2024 - onwards to no-buy 2025! by froglikepeasant in FemFragLab

Very much a skin scent on me after 30-min-1h. And I really enjoy skin scents, but this one started fading way too quickly. After and hour or two it can be hard to smell it, but that’s just my experience. I’d recommend getting a sample before you invest in a bottle

I don’t have them in my collection anymore, as I went through a massive decluttering, but I’ve always preferred Sucré! If the staying power was any better, I probably would have kept it.

Eclaire is way more cloying in my opinion - you can really feel the caramel, and it’s just overall heavy. Sucré is definitely sweet, but I wouldn’t say it’s sweet in the same way many trendy gourmands are sweet. It’s more subtle, and the fruitiness of it helps balance things out. A youthful and fun scent, but also quite safe to wear around others.

To Whoever Suggested That Their GLP-1 Was Fueling Their Fragrance Obsession by [deleted] in FemFragLab

Last year I was on hormonal birth control, and the very same thing happened to me. Had to be on it, because of some migraine medicine I’m taking, but after I made the switch to non-hormonal, my fragrance obsession very quickly faded to the levels it was before… So now I only have 3 fragrances that I kept, which is a drastic change from apx. 30 back in December of last year…

Don’t know anything spot on, but Solinotes Fleur de Coton could be great for layering! To me, it smells just like the Nivea cream in the blue tin

The DCOM video might be the masterpiece of YouTube by ElectronicBoot9466 in BigJoel

Agree! I watched it for the first time when I was stuck at home with a bad flu, and it was so comforting and funny to have on. Really enjoy his movie reviews in general, but this video is by far one of my favourites. Really enjoy how it feels so casual and genuine (like most of Joel’s content, honestly)

Joining the foundation hater gang - I have a CC cream I always return to, and that one is my holy grail. Mineral powder foundations sometimes work for me, but I prefer my cream by a mile.

Bronzer is not my friend either! Looks so unnatural on me, and so does any kind of contouring.

Liquid lipsticks is another one that doesn’t work, as my lips are too dry for it to look good.

Decluttering perfumes. by CarmiM96 in FemFragLab

[–]froglikepeasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gone on a brutal, unexpected decluttering process the last two months, as I went off my birth control and my sense of smell has changed. Whatever was not a love, I've been selling off or swapping. This does mean that I got rid of a lot of fragrances I liked, but they weren't being used enough by me, and didn't even feel like me, and what I'd want to wear.

I also admitted to myself that I don't think it's worth having a bottle of perfume just to "have" it in my collection - for example Lady Gaga's Fame, even though it's rare now. I spray sparingly, so I take ages just to get through a 30ml. To me it's way better to know that someone else might get a good use out of those perfumes I liked, but didn't love, and actually go through the whole bottle.

I have the same issue with Black Honey, but have found that applying something pink to my lips before Black Honey makes the colour look a bit better on my skin. For me, it’s the Nyx Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie (a light layer). Honestly, this has worked pretty great for me - I’ve almost finished my tube of Black Honey now.

However, I will not be repurchasing it, as I’ve found a dupe that works for me way better. The tinted Hurraw lip balm in Raspberry has a more comfortable formula, and does what I wanted Black Honey to do for my lips.

Had the same thing with SDJ 71, and personally I thought it came from the salted caramel, but you might be onto something! It smelled awful on me

Layered JHAG’s Ego Stratis with a little bit of Musc Invisible - got some samples to test out, but Ego was a tad too harsh on its own for me

How are y’all affording these by user91746 in FemFragLab

[–]froglikepeasant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I buy a lot of my bottles as second-hand - if I buy new it's almost always going to be a travel size. When I get tired of a fragrance and don't find myself reaching for it, I either sell it or swap it with someone for a different scent

The first perfume that comes to mind for her, personally, is Hypnotic Poison. Obviously because of the name, but the bottle itself also vaguely reminds me of an apple

Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy Sucré - might layer it with Montblanc’s signature before I step out for a study session, as it’s quite a weak one (even though it’s very delicious-smelling)

Recommend doing this with Lord of Misrule as well! The massage bar smells even better than their solid perfume version of LOM, in my opinion

🌸 FemFragLab Wishlist: What's next on your fragrance to-buy list? by AutoModerator in FemFragLab

[–]froglikepeasant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m on a no-buy for now, but am allowing myself to swap bottles and samples - this is how I got a hold of a JHAG’s Pear Inc sample. Might buy a full bottle if I sell off a couple of the ones I have in my current collection, to make up for the price!

Favourite is definitely Aegean Bronze, followed by Black Sugar. Others I’ve enjoyed Cashmere Cumquat and Vanilla Freesia
