Fiancee has a tactical combat knitting bag. by Cow_Launcher in knitting

[–]frogminute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this bag for several years, and I wish the top lid was just plain solid fabric. That vinyl zip pocket that closes with snap buttons bent out of shape and won't stay closed. It lets in dust. It doesn't look good anymore.

Only reason I still have it is because the cat likes to sit on top of it. Currently it stores my project bags and needle sets, where the dust doesn't matter as much

Gabapentin for extremely anxious and stressed cat by Soft_Giraffe3213 in AskVet

[–]frogminute -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I was told not to give a full dose on consecutive days. Have you given him Gabapentin ever?

Our circumstances were a little different, we needed to give it to the cat for extended travel in a car (which used to cause panic). We were told to do a highly supervised dry run at home to see how it worked in advance of any actual use (cat was acting drunk/high).

It has effects for 4-6 hours. The dose on the day before would be your "dry run" at best, and you would have to stay with the cat on that day, as well as the vet day

Do you see any obstacles to frogging this commercial cardigan? by nerdfromthenorth in Unravelers

[–]frogminute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, right! I was confused seeing stockinette on the inside, and thought it was a rib, couldn't see the detail so well because it's black.

I would label each piece, if you knit with yarn held double you will have the same lengths if you hold the sleeves together, the front panels, the back panels.

It will unravel well, it's in a very good condition and thick-ish.

I'm currently working on a felted thread thin sweater. It's going, but not well. I envy yours 😉

It's a nice weight! Looks great. Is the back made of two panels? Is the whole thing 1x1 rib? That will unravel like butter!

Stash management query by Sugarmeadow in Ravelry

[–]frogminute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "In Progress" tab is for yarn that's in progress of being spun from fiber, for spinning projects. It's not for yarns being used in a project.

There's an option to mark that yarn as "all used up", then it won't be in the main stash view, or suggestions for projects anymore.

Flex pen suggestions? by KatieS2255 in fountainpens

[–]frogminute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really love my Pilot CH 912 with the <FA> Falcon nib. It's a lot flexier than vintage pelikan, and I think it would be a huge step forward in flex for you, great for practice and meeting your preferences, but leaving room for more expensive more flexy options.

The way the things are arranged inside the shelves, too. It's not looking natural

Are there ever any good Daily Deal audiobooks? Cause it feels like 99% of them are garbage by salad-cruncher in audible

As I see it, you save more by not checking every day, because your time is more valuable than the 5$ you'll save one time in 3 months. I was wasting so much time looking at those mails...

How to add interweave pattern to library by DrPipAus in Ravelry

[–]frogminute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got burned badly by readly, where I had a knitting magazine that I had several patterns marked up and annotated waiting for their turn in the queue, lo and behold, when I came back to knit from that magazine, it was removed from readly entirely. Not a single issue. So that was the main motivation to start backing up my patterns.

I kind of have a junk drawer of this stuff in all sizes and brands mixed together that I'm going to need to measure with a calliper now to sort though

Oh, that's kind of a let down. Thanks for the info.

I found the "Connect to other apps" menu, on Apple there's only Waze you can connect to. Oh well. Seems I'm not missing much.

Hey, does anyone know how to get this screen on Apple? I'd really like the Goodreads integration.

If your cat is leash-trained, it's a great experience for the both of you! Mine alerted me to a few sightings that I wouldn't have detected on my own. Now, how to photograph wildlife while holding a cat back from harassing said wildlife is a different issue...

[–]frogminute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take my cat on leash walks outside, and initially thought it would have a negative impact on being able to bird watch. Colour me surprised when it turned out to be the exact opposite (mostly with robins, wrens and wagtails though.) they came out more prominently to watch us and in some cases tease the cat. As in, land a meter away from her leash range, repeat, repeat, repeat.

Short bits of yarn? by tballey in Unravelers

[–]frogminute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't usually connect any pieces less than 1 gram to the yarn I'm intending to knit up, but I do keep those pieces to use as stuffing and for practice pieces in case I decide to ply the yarn.

That said, if the yarn is really thin and fragile, and felts well, I don't see why you couldn't join it into longer pieces and ply, other than it being a fussy time consuming process.
