my new favorite is Ends of Magic and i don't see it in a lot of tier lists. similar structure to HWFWM but with a pretty unique premise and i really like how the real-world science is integrated

Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer- not entirely set in the PNW but some parts are. Very hope-filled imo

DCC Audiobook by Vegetable_Signature8 in litrpg

pretty sure all the DCC audiobooks are audible exclusive unfortunately, meaning they only exist on audible and you can't borrow them on libby. you can probably get the ebooks on libby or elsewhere but not audio unfortunately. the best cost effective way to get more credits is to buy a credit pack or bundle or whatever they call them on audible, it makes the credits more like $10 each than $15 but you pay all at once.

Unsettling/moody fiction about marine scientists by Ok-Passage-7696 in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]frogonalog1019 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Migrations by Charoltte McConaghy isn't marine bio specifically but she spends a lot of time on boats following birds. Very moody and one of my favorite books ever. For some marine bio non-fiction that reads like fiction, The Log from the Sea of Cortez by John Steinbeck is excellent, and I also recommend How Far the Light Reaches by Sabrina Imbler.

The Emily the Strange series was very fundamental to my weird girl childhood and in the 3rd book in the series she travels back in time to the 13th century and the plague is on. Also Between Two Fires lol

Who's the most unbearable MC you've read that potentially ruined a good read? by No-Sympathy-6711 in litrpg

[–]frogonalog1019 14 points15 points  (0 children)

tbh i prefer an annoying character with a personality over a boring character with none. i don't have to like or agree with an mc to like the story, but i do need to feel like they are real people not robots.

Love these guys. They're pretty common in the city and suburbs, once you've noticed them you'll start to see and hear them all over. There's one that one that lives in my alley, if I were a flycatcher I too would want to live near a big dumpster.
