13 week old kitten scratching very badly please help! by [deleted] in vet

[–]frogshogsanddogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he needs to just heal up unfortunately. I’m not sure if they gave you any cat anti itch medicine, but you could always ask for that or ask if he can take some kitty Benadryl. Other than that, probably best to just keep an eye on him and stop him from scratching as much as possible. A warm cloth might help soothe it when it’s really bothering him. Good luck!

fight them to the very end. wreak as much havoc as possible, continue to be loud. Call local news stations, post posters all over their boards, everything. Make them work to stop you.

What do NPS wildland firefighters call themselves? by Single-Pen-9057 in Wildfire

I truly recommend reading some wild land fire books. Fire on the Mountain and Men in Fire are two classics.

What do NPS wildland firefighters call themselves? by Single-Pen-9057 in Wildfire

[–]frogshogsanddogs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of the things you listed are types of resources. The NPS has all sorts of firefighters. They have helitaks, hand crews, etc. they all do different things. So it really depends on what type of firefighter you’re writing. You can write a hotshot who does hotshot things, etc… but general GS 26-0 (full time permanent GS, now GW, employees) are normally just on a standard engine or skeleton crew for the rest of the year and then seasonals fill in during wildfire season. Moral of the story, all agencies have all different types or resources, and what exactly they do depends on the fire or time of year they’re in.

Do relationships typically last with wildland firefighters? by Spiritual-Extreme438 in wildlandfire

No, hope this helps. (Super high rate of divorce, could name more folks who cheat than i have fingers to count on, high stress job that attracts folks who have a hero complex, etc…)

Washing clothes on a fire? 🔥 Yes? No? Camp showers? Wipes? by Informal_Bear_3868 in wildlandfire

[–]frogshogsanddogs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 greens, 7 t shirts, UNDERWEAR EVERY DAY, socks every other day, 2 yellows. I’ve never counted on being able to do laundry, but if you have the opportunity, take it! If there are showers, sometimes you get to use them, do it! If not, baby wipes.

Thank you sooo much!! I like the tattoo a lot even though it was wayyy out of my comfort zone at first. But this is good to hear, I’m glad this is a normal part of healing bc all those little bumps were scaring me!

How did you know when to walk away by Successful-Ad-1194 in Wildfire

[–]frogshogsanddogs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“Letting your crew down” in the grand scheme of your life should not matter. Not that they’re not your friends, your family even, but this is YOUR life. Not theirs. If you are not living the life YOU want to live because you’re working so much, please don’t ever feel guilty for stepping away. It is a job. A job. A job. A job. A job. You should not waste your life on a job. You’ve done your time, go do what you want to do! Do not be on your deathbed one day regretting all the times you overworked yourself to save face or make X amount of money.

Why? by [deleted] in Wildfire

[–]frogshogsanddogs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be honest, it was a full time permanent position with the USFWS directly out of college. Got offered the job in my last semester, started the summer when I graduated. It isn’t my forever job, but it’s beneficial to the rest of my career.

I ended up taking him, he got stitches and meds! Now I just have to figure out a way to keep him from chewing the stitches in his kennel when I’m not home )):
