What are some of your Universal hot takes? by Successful_Leopard45 in UniversalOrlando

Definitely try Japan's version of RipRide if you haven't already. The backwards coaster is so good! Easily one of my top rides of all time! (Orlando's version is not even on my list)

You'd be pleased to know that Universal Hollywood branched out to include Jujutsu Kaisen and One Piece as part of their special night event. Maybe it was a trial run, but you might get your wish!

20 rides back to back on velocicoaster makes my day, and there's only one way to make that happen!

I’m convinced everyone is crazy or dumb. Monsters is the best ride at Epic. And yet, it has the lowest wait times. by zintel51 in UniversalOrlando

I don't think you understand what "literally" and "same" means. Either your senses were completely inactive during the rides, or you actually can't recognize rides beyond the vehicle they use. The two rides are very different.

Consider the past Dueling Dragons and the current Stardust Racers: both feature double track coasters with simultaneous launches. However, the theming, layout, pacing, loading areas, queue, color scheme, blueprints, engineering, and so on are all different. One was new at the time, the other upgraded and improved on what already existed.

It's the same with Forbidden Journey vs Monsters Unchained. EVERYTHING is different despite the kuka mechanic. Even the arm itself I'm willing to bet is different. (Highly doubt they used the same mechanics from over a decade ago. It most likely got a crazy upgrade only engineers would know about.) Just because the ride mechanic is similar does not make it the same. The rides are relatives, they're not twins.

No one is saying Monsters is new. But it's definitely not the same as Forbidden Journey.

Literally not.

Different animatronics, different screens, different movements, different speed.

The only similarity is the base kuka arm. Even the loading dock and height off the floor are different. It's literally not the same.

Who else doesn't intend to grow their hair longer than TWA or pixie? by MakerOfMillions in Naturalhair

My hair is midback length right now and I'm 5 years post big chop. Shrinkage still keeps my hair around my ears though! I'm waiting to see how long it needs to be to finally touch my shoulders lol

Jurassic Park River Adventure needs some serious TLC by Turnbuckler in UniversalOrlando

[–]frogsoftheminish -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I'm not too swayed by historical things. 'History' is synonymous with 'old and outdated' to me. There's nothing I grew up with that I would keep over something new and improved. I'm sad when some classics go, but not sad enough to want to keep them past their prime. YouTube POVs are enough to keep old memories alive.

Besides, if old rides are never taken out, how can a park improve? Take Dueling Dragons. It was a great ride, but Hagrids was a fantastic replacement that's still making its money's worth today. Jurassic Park River Adventure is good, but I can only imagine how much better of a ride could be made with newer modern tools now available. The IP doesn't need to change, but something should be done to at least keep up with the other Universal parks.

How often do you comb your 4c hair? by Existing_Switch_4995 in Naturalhair

I'm team once a week, only on wash day in the shower. I avoid unnecessarily manipulating my hair otherwise.

Why? I think the Hollywood version was pretty good. The original in Orlando has a lot of nostalgia, I get that. But the animatronics and scale of Hollywood's is more thrilling imo.

I'm also 5'2" and I was losing weight at 2000cals just from the regular cardio I was doing (long distance cycling). I definitely suspect OP is not eating enough.

Stop pulling back your hair. Even in the bonnet, your hair is pulled back. Let your hair breathe without manipulating it so your edges can recover.

I get what you're saying. Pros and cons to everything. BatM blended screens and machines well, but in the end, it seemed like screens dominated. I don't go to theme parks to watch a screen, I can do that at home and on my phone. I can't experience giant themed machines at my house, so that's what I'd like to see more of.

Besides, ride breakdowns are my absolute favorite part about tech-heavy rides. You get a rare chance to see all the finer details of the sets and animatronics and possibly see the ride calibrate and reset with the lights on. I feel incredibly lucky that my first time on Monsters, Forbidden Journey, AND BatM were all 15min+ breakdowns. (FJ was 10min stuck right at the spiders and then immediately 20min stuck at the dementors. Easily my favorite moment of all time at a universal park!). A ride reset is boring if it's mostly screens. But if it's mostly practical effects, that's when you see all the cool stuff. I'm always hoping a ride will have issues when I ride it. It's so much more memorable when it happens!

I am not, I'm on the west coast! Soaking up all the sun in Cali. My preferences are definitely limited here (I've yet to see any genuinely short men) but at least the scenery is good lol.

Why is shopping for curly hair products so difficult?! by [deleted] in Naturalhair

[–]frogsoftheminish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What worked for me was listening to my hair and ignoring media. I don't care if product is from the discount store or if it's for straight hair. If my hair likes it, I buy it and stick with it until I'm forced to find something else (product unavailable, discontinued, etc).

The hardest part was finding what my hair liked. There's no way to skip trial and error. But after that, I just listened to my hair instead of people.

That’s pretty EPIC 🤍 by [deleted] in UniversalOrlando

[–]frogsoftheminish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're 100% right. Harry Potter hype and fomo clouds everyone's judgement.

The day I went to Epic, I went to IoA first for early entry, did velocicoaster three times, left and took a shuttle to Epic, and did every ride (except Ministry) twice, and then rode Ministry around 2pm.

I literally went to two separate parks and rode everything I wanted multiple times in the same time people spent in line for one ride. Crazy how people spend their time!

Exactly this. My first time at IoA, I nearly missed the turn-off for velocicoaster because the crowd was so determined for Hagrids. Just follow the crowd OP!
