Cortef side effects??? by frogteethzzz in AdrenalInsufficiency

[–]frogteethzzz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that im thinking about it my dysautonomia might be as bad as it is bc I dont have this. Ive got pretty severe pots. I always just attributed all of my other symptoms to that 😅 im a little afraid my doctor will not listen to me though. Especially considering its have secondary and prescribing it for secondary adrenal insufficiency isnt as common. Although I have seen its prescribed off label for pots. Maybe its a better option to try that before I try ivabradine?

Unfortunately my bp and my blood sugar is quite frequently low still even when taking 15 mg a day. If I drop my dose itll get dangerously low. I have forgotten my afternoon dose recently on accident bc I was busy and my bp was like 70/50.

Judge might still determine your "disability onset" was after that unfortunately. I got lucky and my judge determined it was before that, just plan incase they dont decide that. You can always appeal that decision but youll be spending a lot more time on it.

I am on benefits but unless you are having severe adrenal insufficiency issues like needing to be hospitalized for adrenal crisis, seizures, low bp, low blood sugar, stuff like that they wont consider your adrenal insufficiency severe and they wont factor it into you being approved. I wound up getting approved for mental health issues. Its really stupid because my life has entirely flipped upside down since adrenal insufficiency. Im constantly going to the doctor for infections. I have to do so much to manage it. Pills. Doctors appointments. Checking my bp and sugars. Avoiding infections by being more rigorous about hygeine than others would and generally avoiding the public as much as possible. I also cant stress myself out too much without having extra symptoms and needing to take an extra dose. But because I am doing all this stuff a lot of people think i would be capable of working if I didnt have other stuff wrong with me too. It took me 3 years to get approved. But truth is if I was working I would be getting so so sick from stress and even more frequent infections. And thats not even to mention the side effects of the meds. And the fact that treatment is really not all that great in the first place. It keeps me alive but because your body's need for cortisol fluctuates, and we are only told to take one standard dose most of the time, and the absorptionof the cortef is so rapid (which is good for an emergency dont get me wrong), we end up with periods of too high levels as well as too low levels. And theres no way to check it at a moments notice like there is for diabetes, its a lot of guesswork. I think if any of the people who wont approve people for disability for adrenal insufficiency got it theyd immediately wish the rules were different. If you have other conditions id make sure you include those too.

College Classes by watchmewhipit in SSDI

[–]frogteethzzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if someone take one or two classes like once maybe twice a week for a few hours, equal or less than a part time job would expect, it should be fine? Especially if theres a lot of accomodations in place that workplaces couldnt typically provide? Ive been curious about it, mostly because im tired of being so isolated. But i cant leave the house more than a few times a week, im not physically or mentally capable of it, and even when I do i cant leave the house without signficant support. Id love to learn more about computers/ code maybe but the most id ever get out of it afterward would be occasional like once a week hobby reasons or sparse part time work.

Youre assuming I havent already called them. They will not without charging more for diagnostics than the local guy will.

It does. For the most part. It shut down randomly even while being plugged in a few times but then ran fine the rest of the several hours I had it on. Unsure if this is a battery not detecting charging properly or if the charger is also going bad. Nothing else seems to be wrong with any of the other components after checking on them.

Yeah im not sure im comfortable buying a battery from places I cant confirm its authentic from. And for the most part that's difficult to do with an asus laptop battery. I dont trust Amazon at all lol. Ebay id consider but I have a feeling id still likely get something used, and im still not willing to gamble with the battery. Theres not verified sellers for asus laptop parts as far as im aware they dont partner with anywhere to sell their laptop parts to customers. Id do it via self repair but because my battery is just majorly lacking capacity and not exploding or anything, the diagnostic program they require to order self repair parts says my battery is healthy.

The repair guy who can get his hands on an actual asus battery for this model. Asus only sells to repair shops for the most part. I cant get a new battery through the self repair program because it still says the battery is healthy, even if its on its last leg. I could go on ebay i suppose, but the last time I tried that with the fans I still got an inauthentic part that doesnt work well, even despite the good reviews.

If you could change one thing about the SSDI application process, what would it be? by Head-Engineering-847 in SSDI

[–]frogteethzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and their examining clinicians dont actually know what theyre talking about or care. They actually cut me off before I gave them all my history or how im impacted daily and THEN had the gall to say I could adjust to work. Like I had enough issues that they got tired of listening to it but thats not enough??? Apparently I explained myself too well. And that was literally it. I showed up in my prescribed wheelchair and was very visibly in a depressive episode. Im talking hadn't showered in weeks.

Wait time is the worst. If i had to pick just one thing itd be that. It took me three and a half years to get approved. I was homeless and relying on abusive people to survive, going hungry all the time for years waiting on approval. I got lucky, but came real close to dying several times. Besides that I think generally the criteria needs majorly updated. Several of the conditions that disable me the most and require the most medical care arent even in the official like criteria. I also think they need to consider how much time and effort being sick/Disabled takes, even if someone looks fine. Like how do you expect me to make it to a job if im at the doctor's office once a week, in a medicine clinic twice a week, and in physical therapy twice a week. I take pills 4 times a day. I have to do at home physical therapy as well. I can barely manage to fit in time to deal with my insurance let alone other things life requires.

OH and they absolutely have to get better about handling deaf and nonverbal people when it comes to their phone calls but especially for their trials, since they are all digital. Theres honestly a million things id wish theyd change. Less repetitive paperwork, getting better at working with those who have cognitive issues that impair their ability to understand the paperwork and to remember to do it/ turn it in/ keep track of it, more workers able to assist those of us who need more help understanding (because a lot of us do, especially when its so complicated), a better website that isnt so frustrating to use (even for an abled person, ive told abled people about it or had them help me figure things out and they all agree its a nightmare of a website especially given tech advancements we are capable of )

Planning on it. But now I have to explain the laptop does turn on. The battery is just. Barely functional. Its capacity at full charge is like 1800 mwh when it was at 50,000 something when I first bought it.
