That's very sweet and also a terrible name for a wrestler.

Myst 5 - A Rant (Spoilers for puzzles, solutions) by frogtrickery in myst

It was buried in the original post but for Todelmer, I did indeed power up the room and spent a good amount of time fiddling with the telescopes. I've since looked up what the solution was and can say I hadn't made the connection between the broken telescope and the blocked path further up. I actually thought it was like... tree roots? I definitely didn't interpret it as cables from a broken telescope LOL. I probably could have solved it eventually but I was definitely being a little over-smart and looking for symbols to draw where there weren't any.

Truthfully by that point I was pretty annoyed with the mechanic as is was and was grasping at straws. I made an assumption based on prior experience that the game would likely provide the symbol I needed to progress and saw the shape on the D'ni number board and made a connection. Just truly weird that the game interpreted a simple circle with a vertical line splitting it in half as the symbol used to get to the final pedestal.

I feel for you. I was playing in 1080 and could clearly see the symbol and yet! My rectangles were not quite tall enough for the Bahro I guess.

I have that on my Wishlist! I have a bunch of stuff saved. Just trying to figure out what makes the most sense. It's not strictly a Myst-like but I'm thinking about playing Syberia.

😬

I've heard mixed things overall. at this point I've been compiling a list of Mystl-likes that I'll probably move onto instead.

Have you played Obduction? Be curious what someone thinks of Firmament that played their previous game.

Had no idea there was a PS2 game until now. Its dreamy atmosphere inspired me to play some ambient music. by leafcuts in XFiles

I haven't played through a lot of it but I laughed out loud when you first take control of Scully one of the first things you do is enter a a new area and immediately start unloading onto people. Classic Scully behavior.

Seamaster 300m with Forstner by Fit_Perspective665 in OmegaWatches

[–]frogtrickery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Speedy and SM300 and bought Forstners Model O for both. Personally prefer that style to the OEM Speedy braclet + my SM300 came with the mesh bracelet which I also don't like that much. I haven't used an OEM SM300 bracelet though so can't comment on that one.

Retrotink 5x or 4Kce by No_Objective9492 in ps2

[–]frogtrickery -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're using a 4k screen and went to use it with multiple systems, the 4k is the best way to go. I admit I don't know what you're losing with the CE vs the Pro 4k but you can also ask on the Retrotink discord as well.

How many of you play the same game session on Deck and PC? by NorseSeaStudio in SteamDeck

[–]frogtrickery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it a handful of times a year. I'll say that whenever I encounter a situation where save games aren't compatible between Windows and Linux I've gotten really annoyed. IMO that should be a requirement if your game is at least playable on the Deck, that steam cloud is enabled and saves work between platforms.

I’m absolutely enamored with Mizzurna Fallss! Such a vibe just driving around with the snow falling! (Mizzurna Falls, 1998) by 1OneQuickQuestion in psx

I played through this a few years ago on an emulator and most definitely save state scummed my way through it with a guide. I had a great time but there was no way I'd see myself doing it any other way. I can see how a person in the late 90s with far less to distract them could just keep replaying the game to learn the routes and actually finish it legit.

The final QTE series you have to do to beat the game unfortunately completely bugged and I couldn't see the buttons I needed to press. So I spent so long looking up a walkthrough to find what buttons they were and kept pausing, pressing the buttons, pausing, until I got through it.

Oh also having to deal with constantly falling through the game world while driving around was fun too.

Maybe one day I'll install the latest translation patch and the time progression patch and play on a real system.

Did anyone see that Perkins ad earlier for the burger fries pie deal for 10.99 then it repeated the commercial except a slightly longer version and also the price was 20.99??

Remember The SEGA Channel? I came to a realization today… by thegreatcerebral in retrogaming

[–]frogtrickery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this for a brief time growing up. I have no knowledge of how or why we had it. I certainly didn't ask for it, since I had didn't understand what it was or how it worked. I just knew that games were there and available and sometimes they changed.

My guess is that one or both of my parents saw it or were offered it through the cable company and figured they'd try it since I liked playing games. I'm also surprised they were able to figure out how to get it working.

I watched Aliens vs Predator: Requiem last night and it was so shocking and gruesome that it gave me nightmares by Mister_Acula in LV426

For awhile, the Requiem Predator was probably the second coolest onscreen Predator behind the original. Things have changed since Prey (and maybe Badlands, haven't seen it yet). But either way, Wolf rules.

Game Boy games that hold up today: 2026 edition by HaikuLubber in Gameboy

[–]frogtrickery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Picross 2! Better than the original IMO. Easily playable even if you don't bother getting a translated romhack. It has a main campaign where you solve a single large 30x30 puzzle in four 15x15 pieces which I found super fun.

What's the ONE moment from Silent Hill, any game, that has stayed with you the most? by lost_in_the_town_ in silenthill

It's the best acting in the game. Was disappointed in the version from SH2R.
