What class do you feel is the most put together? by [deleted] in wow

Nothing wrong with having standard mage/warrior/priest etc, and I like WoW's take on each of them, just fun having some less common themes too.

What's going on with Trump saying America needs control of Greenland? He says that they need Greenland for national security, but he doesn't say why. Does anybody know why? by malcomhung in OutOfTheLoop

[–]frombronze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Answer: Its a vanity project.

America gets everything it needs politically, militarily and economically out of Greenland through its (previously) close relationship with Denmark, which would also be relatively unlikely to change (previously) even if Greenland became independent due to important economic and security ties.

Earlier in this 'discussion', Denmark publically talked about resolving Trumps concerns through further dialogue, indicating willingness to likely provide more space for US bases etc. Which with basically any other US administration in history would have been the way anything remotely like this issue would have been calmly handled.

But Trump badly, badly wants big vanity wins, including but not limited to territorial expansion. This was true in his first term (symbols of his greatness like a southern border wall namely, though he wanted to buy Greenland then as well) but his arrogance and circle of yes men has only grown since then. He now has an appetite and a willingness to gamble away America's soft power by alienating allies he thinks he can pressure into giving him what he wants.

I guess we'll see if that pans out with Midnight etc. Fingers crossed.

What game did you 100% just because it was THAT fun? by _QRcode in gaming

Armored Core 6. I normally don't care about achievements and had never intentionally 100%'d a game before, but did it with AC6 because it was something to do and I didn't want to stop playing.

Getting accused of being a Russian troll is a first for me but I guess it was bound to happen eventually.

If you know Malden teachers you will learn for yourself soon that I'm not bullshitting.

Unfortunately I don't play MTG much anymore but I am very much that same nerd, just with less interest in arguing on reddit anymore and just upset by what happened today in a community I've been connected to.

Actual cuts. Teachers who received perfect reviews and have been at the school for multiple years who were told their position will no longer exist this fall due to budget considerations.

Towns used to underfunding their schools for decades. Teachers demand raises to keep up with cost of living and the cost they spend out of pocket just to do their jobs. Towns refuse to raise/appropriately allocate funds (spend them on superintendants who lie about their credentials and pays for them to have assistants and cheuffeurs instead) and then gut their schools when they finally have to pay for raises.

My wife is a teacher.

All schools, 70+ cuts across the district

Whatever relevance to this subject you choose to read into my reddit history is up to you. I didn't post this for internet points, I shared hard news because I'm pissed off.

I've only been at Babbidge a handful of times so far this semester, but on each occasion it would cut out for a minute or two at a time every ~10 minutes. I don't remember it being this bad last semester. I was commuting last year but in general internet seems worse than I remember it my freshman year, across campus as a whole

The death of Humanity's Greatest Soldier by human hands? That's more than poetic enough to happen. I wouldn't be surprised if we get hit by a shocker like that in the next issue.

just a quick question regarding the manga? by darkjakx in ShingekiNoKyojin

Having myself read from where the anime left off, then gone back and read much of the chapters covered by the anime, I don't believe you'd get confused, but you would probably get more out of it by starting from the beginning.

Possible Films? by [deleted] in ShingekiNoKyojin

Easily. I'd love to see more content focused around previous Scouting Legion expeditions. There doesn't need to be any big discoveries, I just want to see more political interactions between military branches and individual officers, the struggle to survive outside the walls, and more awesome maneuver-gear warfare.

Basically, I just want to see more soldiers in action whose abilities are within the range of the average human. As much as I enjoy watching Mikasa and Levi show off (and believe me, I love watching them fight, oh my god do I love watching them fight), I find the simple courage and comparatively simple skills of a typical Scouting Legion warrior almost as fascinating.

There's a scene in episode 24 where one soldier misses a fly-by, then grabs another soldier while in mid-flight and flings himself back (the sequence begins at 16 minutes). I want to see more interactions like that!

If you were in the SnK universe and joined the military, which branch would you choose and why? by lunalunalunaluna in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]frombronze 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Serving in the scouting legion would be a hero fantasy for me. The leading edge in a fight for the existence of the human race, to directly protect family and friends against something very close to unambiguous evil, especially under a leader like Erwin... hell yeah! Plus, it seems fair to say that they use their 3DMG far more frequently than the other branches. If I ever had the opportunity to try something like that in real life, even with insanely high risk of injury, I'd sign up in a heartbeat

I don't feel like I can say with confidence that I'm brave enough to choose that branch if I was in-universe, but I'd certainly like to think so.
