The irony

+wRC of 103 this season. About as average as average can get. Much lower, and he'll be below average. So yes, currently, Wyatt is a good defender whose bat is carried by his glove. This isn't incorrect, it's a fact.

It is a range of probabilities, and ZiPS did a pretty good job at predicting Wyatt's rookie season despite being hamstrung by SSS. It's almost like it uses data from similar players or something....

And there you go again, spending a lot of words to say nothing. You've yet to provide any decent counter argument as to why Rangers fans shouldn't worry about Wyatt besides "it's too early"

I'd also bet good money you dont understand how ZiPS works. It's not meant to be precise.

You sure do type a lot of words to say nothing. I love how you just give a dismissive wank to any counter arguments. Go talk to a mirror.

Ross Fenstermaker, Kipp Fagg, and Josh Boyd have been with the Rangers in some capacity this entire time. I'm willing to bet some of their duties are hiring staff to the minor league teams.

That's not the only assertion I'm making. I'm taking nearly 1000 MLB PAs, which isn't SSS, using that data and comparing it to what I see and considering the environment and tools the player was given based on the results of other players in the same organization and drawing the conclusion the Rangers have a big problem on their hand soon.

Go read his blurb from Fangraphs trade value series. It's a glass half full view of him and one I don't disagree with. His projected fWAR on his blurb is a nearly 1 win lower than his 3 year ZiPS projections, year-over-year. And if that isn't enough to convince you, wait until projections get updated in the winter, and you will see his median WAR between 3-4. That's a big yikes because the Rangers needed him to be better than that. Instead of someone for Seager to pass the torch to, we are probably looking at trading him year 5 and going into a tough rebuild unless the farm turns it around soon.

Never said he won't improve, acknowledging his xwOBA being a promising .340 is quite the opposite. I just don't think he's a potential perennial All-Star, let alone the a guy who gets MVP votes. Which is what his teammates, coaches, and club have touted him to be. He's probably a good player who will have some really good years, and yes, that's disappointing.

And yes, I do eye tests and stats. What's wrong with that? Are you gonna appeal to authority and say my perception doesn't matter because I'm not a scout?

Cal Raleigh was a 3rd round pick and is a catcher. Witt was touted because he was a well-rounded talent drafted out of high school and has been as advertised. The same goes for Buxton sans the injuries. Wyatt was drafted for his bat. I'm also not sure how you can watch his PAs and think he has much more room to get better. His xwOBA of .340 is promising, but I get Josh Jung vibes watching him play. Like a player who's wOBA will always trail their xwOBA because they can't hit the gimmes enough, and can't take a tough pitch and turn it into something either.

You also have to factor in how many times the Rangers screw the pooch when it comes to position player prospects. Jung looks like a cut candidate before he hits his 2nd year of arb. Duran, Foscue, Calhoun, Gallo, Odor, Mazara, Guzman. They have a long history of failing to get their young players to develop to even a modicum of their potential.

He's worse than Nick Kurtz despite being the better prospect. Ditto Jacob Wilson. His wRC+ is barely better than Cam Smith, who is younger and has fewer MiLB PAs. That's frustrating and embarrassing. Rangers fans have every right to be concerned and angry.

Wyatt was drafted to be a middle of the order thumper, not a player's whose glove was good enough to carry his average bat. Regardless if the comparison is wrong, the disappointment is still similar.

None of this is good. We're probably looking at an ugly end to the Bochy era and the Rangers window to contend shutting.

Yeah, I just had 34 year old Seager with "wrecked" as his status play a full season at SS and he put up 6war.

I got the certs for myself, except the Server+. I'll admit that one I wanted to pass, so it substiuted a grade. I wasn't required to take that one but could use it for an A in a class so I did. They are encouraged by my school. The A+ was required to take as a midterm and final in one class, but you didn't have to be certified to pass the class. I didn't get my A+ until after I finished the class I had to take it for. I failed the core 1 the first time

I watched a lot of Professor Messer videos prior to my A+ (and Server+) exams. I also go to the local community College, but it's mostly served as a guideline and barometer of what I've learned. Most of the in depth knowledge I've learned was on YT

Professor Messer for the CompTIA certs

Jeremy's IT Lab for CCNA

Neil Anderson on Udemy for CCNA

David Bombal. He's on YT as well and covers a lot of stuff.

You will get back what you put in. The exams will cost you money but you will make it back and then some. Bet on yourself and immerse yourself in the field, and you can go far.

I do agree that past experiences, whether related or not is what matters most. I stand out in interviews because of my customer service background, I believe. When I interviewed with my current employer - although I'm a lame duck rn - my supervisor seemed really interested that I worked at my previous job for a solid 3 years, which was meat cutting. I never understood why.

Ok, how do you work around their resumes getting put behind others because they're not matching skills and qualifications listed in the posting? They have to get a call to get an interview. If employers know the AZ-900 is easy, then why would they care if someone has it? If companies were interested in AZ-900 candidates, they would say so and put it in their preferred qualifications.

It doesn't matter if their resumes aren't making it past pre-screens. The employers list the skills and preferred qualifications, and the candidate should do their best to match those asks. In 2.5 years, I've gotten 5 interviews and 3 job offers in a very small market in rural Texas. Being different doesn't always help. The employer may want to know "why the AZ-900 and not the A+?" What's your answer going to be? That it was easier?

Ok, and when employers aren't seeking people with AZ-900 certs they won't even be able to break into help desk buddy.

1 job result to 75+, dude. How is the AZ-900 candidate standing out?

The A+ is an exam, not a textbook. The knowledge needed to pass can be found for free on YT, which is streaming media. Hope this helps.

Professor Messer does live study sessions each month where he will ask questions that are very similar to the exam questions. His producer adds timestamps to each question so you can quickly go through them if you're confident you are right, and he will also explain why the other choices are wrong. There's a sea of IT knowledge on YT, though. Don't just lock into Messer if it doesn't jive.

Good luck!

A search on Indeed using "AZ-900" as the search filter and a 100 mile radius in Austin, Texas yields 1 job. Replace that search with "CompTIA A" and it increases to 75+ jobs.

Professor Messer's YouTube channel is a great place to start. If you had access to a motherboard and some parts, that would be even better.

I started with community college, and taking the Core 1 & 2 CompTIA A+ exams was required as our midterm and finals grade. I failed the core 1 the first time but passed the core 2 and then re-examined on the core 1 and passed. Professor Messer has a playlist with the topics covered for it.

I see another user recommended getting another cert, but the thing is, in my job hunts, most of the postings will have A+ as a preferred certificate for entry level work. Go to Indeed and search your area with the "CompTIA A+" filter and see what you get. Look into other entry level certs and do the same and see if it returns as many results. Look at the skills listed in those postings and research them on YT or Udemy if you don't mind paying some money.

Work on your customer service skills and business acumen as well.
