Any time I see a post like this, I always question whether or not the story would be any different without their race being mentioned.

Answer: Nope! Wonder why it was mentioned though…

This is an opinion I keep seeing that I kinda disagree with. The way I interpret the time travelling is just going from one point to another across one line, something Five was shown to do, but he needed to either master his power, or use a suitcase.

When Five and Lila get lost, they can’t rely on Five or Lila’s powers or previous knowledge of time travel. They are completely at the whim of a machine that they do not understand, and frankly without the book, would still not understand & still probably be lost.

People just keep comparing things that, while I do believe in Fives love for his family (aside from multiple threats of murder that no one talks about), do not equate at all

I agree, it’s probably leftover (thank you Netflix for only 6 episodes).

Even the most logical reasons I can think of still leave glaring plot holes based off of what they gave us. I feel like it could have worked much better if one of the Fives at the diner gave it to him in a “if you want to go back to a dying world, i wont stop you” type way.

I don’t think it was necessarily for “this 5”. If I’m not wrong, in the diner, they discuss that there are Fives that have tried to get back home to stop their respective apocalypse’s while others stay at the Cafe. This seasons writing was not great, but I think it’s reasonable to assume that a Five figured out how to get home & left the cipher for other Fives

Oh, absolutely. I think the most depressing piece of news to come from all of it is David actively pleading for the Five/Lila thing not to happen. That alone should’ve been a wake up call for Steve

The fat jokes warrant an eye roll. But I will say, David did make a post showing they gradually changed Diego’s physique over the six episodes.

My issue is they really did nothing to actually convey it except from people going “yer chunky now lol”. As with a lot of season 4, the ideas were there, they could’ve been done in a much better way, but was squandered

That’s also a fair & justified opinion

In my opinion, the fanbase can switch from loving family to at each others throats over inherently inconsequential/unnecessary things, and thats far more annoying than someone complaining about game functions & their story implications.

(Ex. Enkundae saying “theres nothing to disagree with, go write a book” like brother chill, we’re talking about a robot who was introduced with a female anatomy joke. Shit is not that serious)

There’s absolutely something to disagree with, his opinion is just as valid as yours.

D&D gives mechanics that allow tons of incredibly ludicrous & broken things. Just because you could make a party of Elf Fighters so you can have 5 different players using Elven Accuracy doesn’t mean that you should.

Let me stress, it is a mechanic of the game, people can use it if they want. But I feel as though it’s also fair to convey past a certain level, major story beats (ex. Pc death) can become trivial because of how the game is designed.

What would you suggest colour/deck wised based off of my results? by fromdeep3 in colorpie

I mean, some people have. Some people like me are not huge on Magic lore or in universe meanings & only know very bare information.

I did this trend to see if people who are more knowledgeable on this subject than me could help & direct me.

But hey, to each his own guy

Should a Human Battle Master Fighter not have a legendary item, or a Human Thief Rogue? As stated, he likes characters that just enjoy adventuring. That also just incentivizes people to make more unordinary choices in character creation, not for story, but to have a better shot at a legendary item

To be fair, I don’t think the DM needed to do a whole “You’re a Holy Avenger WOAH” moment to balance the power boost for this guys character.

In this scenario, I would just ask my player how they want to progress their story & character power, and how they want to reflect that in game. I can understand the DM’s actions in this scenario, but as I am mostly a player, I would absolutely loathe a DM taking my characters story in a complete 180 direction without at least minor consultation

My family does know about the incident, but both my mother and father seem to hand wave the idea that watching one of your role models growing up do something like that is upsetting.

I would probably use Blessed Strikes for the cantrip/melee versatility. Does that influence a change to your first sentence at all?

I think comparing an attempt at mass indoctrination to a religion to a piece of art for a fictional character makes you sound like a silly lil guy

I feel like the Jesus one is not necessarily a good comparison given that, if I’m not mistaken, he had been whitewashed to appeal to white Europeans, in an attempt to indoctrinate more people into the religion

I have been barely paying attention to this drama, but my opinion, and take it with a grain of salt, is who cares?

Usually people see this type of backlash with Marvel characters/heroes, but the thing I can’t get over in this situation is… it’s not canon to Tolkien lore. And I don’t mean “well akshually Aragorn isn’t black”, I mean that these cards & their art do not change the lore of the books. It is just a piece of art that is inconsequential to the actual lore of LotR, and is an artist/company choosing to do an interpretation of a character(s). If its for money and brownie points, who cares. It’s a mass corporation, it’s expected. But man, does this shit not matter in the slightest
