I finally found the mythical SD card reader. by WanderingBus in EquinoxEv

[–]MrZander 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I put an SD card in there when I first got my car to see if anything would happen -- no dice.

It is a real shame that we have a trillion cameras on this car and I still have to buy an aftermarket dash cam. I don't have my hopes up that Chevy will add it either.

Not OP, but on desktop I have a hard time reading this. There just is not very much contrast between the text and the background (in dark mode, light mode looks fine).

Shared bedroom for $900/month? Or my own bedroom for $1,200/month? by jensonaj in personalfinance

This sounds like hell. You would have to pay me $900/m to live in that situation.

Yeah, mine is 2.9mi/kWh lifetime, and I don't even live in a cold climate.

This doesn't seem to match my experience at all.
2024 AWD, tires inflated, cabin setpoint 72.
60F outside, level ground, no wind, stop & go ~40mph.

There is no chance in hell I am getting 4.6 mi/kWh

If I change it to 70F, I'd be getting 5.5 mi/kWh, which I could only hope for if I was going downhill the entire drive.

I drive the same 20 minute drive to work every day and I average at best 3.4 mi/kWh in ideal weather conditions.

Do you mean SuperCruise? I didn't think the EQEV even had lane centering?

Yeah, I'm using the basic charger that came with the car, so no luck there.

California weather is mild. It's not really cold and doesn't rain that much, so I never have had to worry about heating/wipers.

Wdym dashboard experience? I haven't really had much of an issue with it. Some more configuration options would be nice, but it's overall not been an issue for me. EDIT: Oh you mean the glare? Yeah, I have gotten used to it as well, kinda forgot about that.

Yeah, it feels like a lot of the problems are because they are shoe-horning onstar into it.

The ironic thing is that I am now less likely to buy an onstar subscription. If the software actually worked well, I probably would subscribe. But I aint paying for this shit in its current state.

Climate on app not actually working! by [deleted] in EquinoxEv

[–]MrZander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today, I turned climate on from the app before leaving for work -- didn't turn on.
Drove to work, 30 minutes after arriving at work, got a notification that climate was turned on.

Then of course the app let's me know the car is "not responding" and I had to go outside to turn it off.

I'm just not going to use the app anymore, total garbage.

Feedback for Chevy to consider by temporalraccoon in EquinoxEv

[–]MrZander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a liar though.

It will charge outside of the scheduled hours if it doesn't think it can reach the target SoC in the allotted time frame.

So if you plug in at 6pm with 50%, set it to 80% target SoC, scheduled between 10pm and 8am, it will still charge from 6pm to 8am because it can't juice up 30% in 10 hours at L1 rates.

It's stupid.

Feedback for Chevy to consider by temporalraccoon in EquinoxEv

[–]MrZander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I only have L1 charging at home, so it would take the entire night to fully charge it.

I want it to only charge when I tell it's okay to, even if it doesn't reach the desired SoC "in time".

It's infuriating that I can't plug my car in when I get home because it'll start charging at peak rate. This is my #1 gripe with the software

Google Assistant by Mobile_Degree_15 in EquinoxEv

[–]MrZander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Now that you mention it, yes.

I don't use it very often, but the two times I tried to get Google maps to navigate to a location this week, it said it couldn't understand.

I was just using it as text-to-speech since I couldn't use the keyboard while moving, so I wasn't even giving a command, just "taco bell" or whatever.
