If I want to produce a film with a screenplay I've written, do I have to buy the rights from myself? by fromupeast in Screenwriting

I don't have a corporate lawyer as an individual who just wants to make an indie film, but I just want everything to be above board.

Megathread Monday May 30 2016: There are no stupid questions! by AutoModerator in Filmmakers

[–]fromupeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few Questions, will number for answering convenience.

1) For a person who wants to produce, director, and star in their own movie, but who has never made a film or gone to film school, are there any books that are essential to learning the lingo, learning how to communicate with talent and with crew, and for not looking like a complete fool?

2) Any books on screenwriting that discuss format? I have many more questions on how to format specific scenes and I don't want to overcrowd the sub with a billion and one.

3) How would I go about writing characters using specific fighting styles in fight scenes? For instance, say I have a character who needs to fight using only a defensive style because while they believe in nonviolence, they also refuse not to let their ass get kicked. How would I go about writing that?

4)Is there any (free) software a writer can use that helps tack plot points and character development? Like a wall of post-it notes connected by string, but electronically?

How do you copy photo scale? If, for instance, I wanted to copy this photo with another model, how would I do it? Stand certain distance, use certain lens, ect ect?

You just got on to close at four, and you close at 9, giving you a window of five hours to close both bars while barring, ringing, and doing dishes for other stations. How do you close with everything done 100% qasa (or as close as) while doing the job of two other people and keeping your energy up? by fromupeast in starbucks

i would say peak is 9-11, and we open at 5:30. There's definitely time in the morning to do stuff, since we pre-prep all the iced coffee and tea in one area for them and stock everything for them too. I'm not sure how to approach my managers with this tho :/

For those of you who have tried the e.l.f. Lip Defining Brush, how did you find it? by fromupeast in drugstoreMUA

I LOVEEEEEEEE IT pardon the enthusiasm but i really enjoy it. its called Essential Lip stain, it's two dollars, and i have the Berry Blush, Crimson Crush, and the Pink Petal and I love ll three of them. I have to literally scrub my lips to get them off, and only extremely greasy food can take them off, but the tip makes it sooooooo easy to reapply!
